After leaving my friends’ camp in Aurora, I decided to take the scenic route back to my hometown. I had done a little research on what wineries would be open and available on a beautiful Monday afternoon in August and this seemed to be one of the only ones in the area. Hooray for everyday hours! When I arrived the wife was outside her rustic home that makes me love my state of Maine even more. Nothing glamorous, no fancy fountains announcing you have arrived at the most amazing winery in the world. Just their home, redone barn, and gardens warmly welcoming you to visit. The wife approached me and asked how she could help. When I asked for the wines she graciously welcomed me into the barn section of their house. She told me about the barn that her husband is in the process of redoing. So far I would like to say, it looks great. She welcomed me to sit and brought out their 3 current wines. She discussed with me how all their wines are organic and the only ones on the east coast to do so. She told me of the harvest they do and how they honey comes from Canada or overseas to ensure it’s organic nature. The first wine was a ginger wine that I just couldnt get behind. It was nice but, meh I am not a ginger type of girl. The second was a cranberry cyser. This was nice but not as nice as the third which was a blueberry wine. Yum! For $ 15.00 a bottle I couldn’t refuse. I love that this is local, organic, and that they love what they do. I can’t wait to visit again.
