Pass. A «Pub» should know how to serve draft beer: in cold, clean glasses that allow the beer to hold a nice head of foam. Instead draft beer was served in warm glasses(possibly unclean as well) with no foam head. Not a good start. Next, server spilled a drink on one of our party and didn’t even try to really clean it up — just kinda ran off and we had to ask for the floor to be mopped. Beyond that — food was so –so — and while the place has charm it somehow just didn’t make it even with atmosphere. I would recommend trying somewhere else.

While I applaud the staff for being very friendly and attentive, the food is absolutely horrible. My family and I go to the Commons for convenience, nice staff and nice atmosphere, however, our last experience in regards to the food was our final experience at the Commons. I ordered the Commons Cobb Salad recently, when we decided to give the food«one last try» after a string of disappointments. It’s hard to put into words how horrible my salad was. I’m not sure if they refrigerate their avocados to extend the freshness for months, or if they let the avocados rot at room temperature, but I’ve never seen such a brown, rubbery, pitiful fruit in my entire life. The rest of the veggies in my salad were equally as terrible, and the chicken I added to my salad for $ 6 was dry, barely edible. I won’t go into detail about everyone else’s disappointing meals but the overall consensus was to grab a pizza after having dinner at the Commons.

This past week they supposedly changed management, but not only did they change a few staff members, they changed the beloved menu and the consistent, excellent quality of food I craved when I had dinner there tonight. Unfortunately, within the span of a week, marble rye was burnt, burgers were overcooked, mussels were served unopened and the waitress didn’t know the difference between a mojito and a daiquiri. Service was remarkably slow, too. My party and I were extremely disappointed, and tonight was our last night at The Commons… ever. Shame.

It took me a while to write this review, mostly in hopes the disgust would wane and the owner would rectify the unfortunate situation. Unfortunately none of this occurred. Having to experience what The Commons passes as «food» is unfortunate enough for a party of one. But having 25+ friends and family gather from all of the country to partake in The Commons’ «special» rehearsal dinner menu was incredibly embarrassing and regretful. We were celebrating a very joyful occasion with some of the most joyless food possible. We were served iridescent, grey, hard, and tepid beef(although the debate is still out as to what it really was), rock hard whole potatoes, and a mushy, tasteless vegetable medley from a can(there is no way the vegetables we were served were fresh). And all to the preposterous tune of ~$ 30 a pop. .. . I did call the owner to share the experience. I articulated that the food was inedible and I had asked some of the personnel to try it at the time. he seemed very unconcerned but assured me he would call me back after finding out what happened. This, he never did and so the disappointment continues with this establishment. I was always fond of this venue when it was the franklin club and was excited to see what it had to offer as The Commons. I could not, with a clear conscious, recommend this place to anyone, ESPECIALLY for a wedding, rehearsal dinner, etc. You would have a more satisfactory dining experience at Villa Italia or even McDonald’s and spend ¼ of your money all the while.

Loved the atmosphere in this old building, had a great meal in this out of the way town. Chicken piccata was done very well and recommend this place to all.
