This would be my favorite little farmer stand anywhere, but thanks to its location, it’s got the huge added bonus of great Eastern Shore tomatoes and corn-on-the cob! It’s a mandatory stop now on every Autumn return trip from the beach. They really pack a lot in such a small market– great produce of every kind, baked goods, fresh honey from their own hive and lots of great pickled items from Jake & Amos including buffalo eggs. Of course the corn doesn’t last forever but it is truly some of the best and sweetest I’ve ever had.

On our wag home from ocean city, Md… We came across the red barn farmers market. The strawberries were so fresh and sweet. The blueberries were sweet and soft. They also had homemade breads and honey. There were flies around the produce, which is expected bc the produce is outside. I didn’t see anything rotten, the only downside was the flies. Overall, I spent $ 20 and it was well worth it. I will def be back.

This place has really gone downhill since the last time I was there. Bought two melons, some cherries, some tomatoes, and a few muscadines(never had them, curious about the taste) the other day, and the tomatoes(which we ate the same day we bought them) looked OK, and were ripe, maybe even a little overripe, but had that tasteless slightly mealy texture of tomatoes that were shipped in, not grown locally, which is inexcusable at this time of year. The watermelon was also really disappointing. The canary melon and the muscadines were good, but everything was also pretty overpriced compared to Fifer, where we usually shop.

I have been stopping at Red Barn since I was a kid. It seems as things are always better in your memory. The vast majority of the produce here is so over ripe, it would only be worth eating if you planned on consuming it within the day or maybe the next day at the most. They had a pile of rotting fruit covered in flies for the super low price of 1 dollar per item! WOW! here’s a dollar — go throw that stuff out because it’s gross to even see it sitting there. Peaches were tasty and large, cantaloupes were very large and over ripe. Watermelon was pricey — only item that can be enjoyed 2 – 3 days from now. I will be back… but I really hope things improve.

I just passed here on Rte 1 on my way back to Philly from Rehoboth Beach. This place has a great variety of fruits and vegetables. I got a bag of 6 husked corn for $ 3(that’s a real deal– same as with husk). There was also a deal for cantaloupes which was 2 for $ 5– ripe and ready to eat. Plus, I got fresh broccoli stock bunch for $ 2 as well as a couple of sweet potatoes $ 0.99 a pound. Wow, that came to a total of $ 11 and everything was fresh. You can’t get better than that!!! Plus, they had samples of cantaloupe and watermelon slices.
