So… safe to bet that whoever owns this store is obsessed with Star Wars. Action figures from the 70’s and recently, toy models of the Millennium Falcon, postcards and Lego scenes… lordy. Let’s just say my husband had fun reliving his childhood here for a little bit. I would definitely categorize Blue Shark as much more of a «collectibles» store than an antiques place. Vintage, yes, antiques, no. There are some very nice pieces of furniture to be found here, but I wouldn’t make a trip just hoping to find that special something. If you find something great, good on ya, but its much more a place to find that classic record you’ve always wanted(original Beatles, Stones, Mamas and the Papas, Prince, etc), costume jewelry, china pieces or… you know… a Kermit the Frog phone. Three stars for the quirky variety within and the relatively clean and organized layout.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! OMGOMGOMG! If you’ve never been to my house, you don’t understand why this is such a «SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE» moment for me, but when we came into this store, my husband and I found the perfect turntable console. We’re super duper into the 50’s(and yes, this is before MadMen and all things vintage was cool), but we ended up with an architecturally 70’s house. So we’ve been carefully straddling the line to keep things authentically period for the house, yet still reflect what we love. We’ve been on the hunt for a turntable/radio console from the 50’s or 60’s — and while we’ve found a few, but they were either priced way out of our range, or it wasn’t in working order. But then we wandered into Blue Shark Antiques, and THEYHADOURCONSOLE!!! It’s from 1968 and it’s a full standing sideboard sized full turntable and radio!!! AAAAAAND for the amazing low price of $ 250(OK, I had to talk them down a bit), but the condition was pristine, and the owner/manager had restored the stereo speakers so that everything was working perfectly(he even allowed us to play a few records to show us how great the sound was). But then, that is a reflection of this store. Unlike many«collectible» stores, this one wasn’t packed to the gills with junk. I didn’t have to wade through broken toys and dirty plates to unearth the gem that I’m looking for. This store is large and each item is placed so that you can admire and see it for it’s beauty. No dusty shelves, no gross dead fur coats piled next to cake stands that’s piled next to 40000 broken StarWars toys. Everything has it’s place, and everything has been restored to the best of their ability. LOVELOVELOVE this store! P. S. We didn’t get the console that day because we didn’t have a car big enough — we’re going back in a week to get it… and then OMGOMGOMGOMG, I’m going to put in my will that I want to be buried with this console it’s so magnificent!!!
