I first heard about Matt’s Custom Welding by talking with a pal. The welder seemed polite and responsible, and since a friend recommended him, I decided to give him my business. I ordered four custom tire ramps for the dealership I work for. I was told by Matt that the job would take a week to complete. That wasn’t the best time for me but I agreed. The welder asked to be paid in advance. I agreed. That was February 3. I was very patient up until the day the order was supposed to be completed. I didn’t get any calls so at noon I called Matt. No answer. It took multiple calls over nearly three hours before Matt finally picked up. He apologized, said he was overwhelmed with more work than he thought he would be, and he promised the job would be done by 5 pm and he would call back to let me know. When he didn’t call at 5, I called him and of course, straight to voicemail. Beyond furious at that point, I waited until the next morning and called again. No response. Gave it a few minutes, tried from a different number, and surprise, he picked up. I asked about the order and he actually became angry with me that I’d bothered calling at all. I told him I wanted my money back, and he refused and hung up the phone. I explained the situation to my dealership, and escorted by a police officer, went to Matt’s shop. Matt must’ve been expecting me but not a police officer, because an older gentleman who introduced himself as Donald came out and told us Matt wasn’t there. I didn’t believe it, and neither did the officer, who told Donald he would be in trouble too if he lied for Matt. Matt finally came outside, and promised me and the officer that I would get a full refund. As of today I do have my money back but I’ve wasted nearly two weeks on someone who wasn’t reliable and now have to find someone else to do the job. Avoid this guy.
