What a little gem of a breakfast spot. My partner and I stopped here on a recent visit to Whidbey and our picky Portland palates were quite satisfied. When I saw the location I considered getting back in the car, but the huge blackboard covered in gluten free and vegetarian items enticed me to enter. We both had the frittata, which was much more than I was hoping to get out of what otherwise is «just a coffee shop» and I forced down a big piece of mango sour cream coffee cake. I haven’t had coffee cake in several years but it was just as good as I remembered! Big chunks of mango. Super moist and delicious. We brought home some paleo granola he was selling on the side but haven’t tried it yet. Looks pretty yummy. Everyone we mentioned our breakfast to from the island agreed, Timbuktu is a great hidden spot. Check it out if you’re nearby!

I like it when the other reviewer said just drive on by. I went into this place after visiting H&R Block to get my taxes done to try the frittata that everybody said was wonderful. I’m not sure what people’s taste buds are tasting but mine say blah on the frittata just go home and make yourself some scrambled eggs and put some cheese in it that be better in addition to the boring frittata that was dried out and lukewarm hopefully it wasn’t full of bacteria cause it certainly wasn’t up to temp. The owner or the older gentleman behind the counter was rather rude when I just wanted water instead of coffee. Needless to say I’m not coming back on to the next place please can some place on Whidbey Island have a decent place to eat it’d be nice to go out for lunch sometime. I remember when going out to lunch was a special and nice treat now is just full of reviews and mediocre slop

Best frittata ever. You have to stop here for breakfast or a coffee if you’re on the island. The owner is delightful and it’s a great interior!

Absolutely fabulous like all the previous reviewers say. The owner is great and his food is unbelievably good. We tried the chili, coconut carrot soup and the frittata. All of them were delicious! And so were the coffee drinks! And the décor is fabulous!

Great coffee. Try the French toast casserole or quiche. They are great! Quinoa salad is also good.

This place is amazing if you are Gluten Free or Vegetarian/Vegan. The man who runs it makes everything himself, and is so accommodating. I highly recommend the vegetarian frittata, and any of his Guten free pastries. Also the lentil soup or any of his homemade sandwiches. My friends and I loved the spot so much we went back 2x in one day. He apparently also makes a killer cornbread(didn’t get a chance to try since he ran out). But great place for a light lunch or a yummy coffee. Love it here!!!

I enjoyed this so much the last time we were in the area, that we drove out of way to come again. They had even more gluten-free items than the last time and they were soooo good, no one would ever know they are gluten free. The espresso’s were awesome too. We’ll be back for sure the next time we are in town!

When on Whidbey Island, this is your new must stop coffee shop! The owner takes great pride in his daily menu and delicious cookies that are available. And Intelligista coffee to boot. Try the Black Cat blend! Hard to find — look behind the gas station.

Stopped by Timbuktu this afternoon. The owner, Chris Jacobs, is super hospitable. The coffee was decadent and Timbuktu Rockin’ Chili truly tasty. I highly suggest that you stop by Timbuku and enjoy the great hospitality, food & drink.

Fantastic! Scrumptious Frittatas, stuffed french toast, coffee cake, oatmeal carmelita, and Americana. Really cozy, clean, and well-managed café. Friendly service! Downside if dining in, the setting is on the highway in a gas station complex. Want to return for soups and chili!

Love this place: incredibly friendly, and their homemade food is SO tasty. We couldn’t help but get everything they had on the menu for lunch that day: coconut milk/carrot soup, chili, and quinoa salad and did not regret it!

I’ll start off with the positive, their Italian Sausage Frittata was amazing. It was fresh and delicious. The ambiance was chill and unique and made you feel welcome. Now to the negative, the Chai Tea Latte I ordered was the worst one I’ve ever had in my life. It had zero Chai flavor. Order another drink and I’m sure you’ll be fine.

We stopped in after the weekend on Whidbey. The food looked so good we had to try it! I got the veggie frittata and my boyfriend got the Italian sausage one. He also put a little of homemade chili on my boyfriends… Wow it was so delicious! We both also got pastries too which were amazing. I’m stuffed and so happy a place like this exists!

Timbuktu is a destination unto itself. We happened to stop by after a weekend stay on Whidbey and had their veggie frittata(which was delicious). The small café has a great atmosphere with strings of lights from the ceiling and nice art on the walls. Well-worth the stop!

We found this place when we were going to the San Juan islands. What a great find. Everything was fresh and tasty. The frittata was amazing. Our friends had the French toast. Wow. It was great. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We would defiantly recommend it We will be back here on our next trip to the NorthWest.

Lovely little café on Whidbey Island. Went to lunch there with my family of four including two kids. While the food selection was somewhat limited(breakfast casserole, frittata, chili and smoothies and baked goods) everything was very fresh and delicious. I have a gluten-sensitivity and this café has all their GF food clearly labeled which is AWESOME! There is a couch and cozy chair section which is great for people that want more of a coffee shop experience but they also had three tables that could seat parties up to 6 so it was comfortable for a meal as well. The gentleman running it was very kind and helpful. So glad we checked Unilocal and found this little gem. We did miss the sign at first — know that it is on the same property as a gas station– that might help others find it.
