Frank H. Ball is an old city park in the heart of west Fresno. Many of Fresno’s famous athletes grew up, playing here, in this very old neighborhood. Not only are there playgrounds and ball courts and diamonds, but there is a large gymnasium, one of the few at Fresno parks. The park has a wading pool and swimming pool which are open in the summer months for the neighborhood. This is a place where people walk from their homes. There is only street parking. The playground has a climbing wall. The picnic tables are shaded under a pavilion. Because the park is so old, the trees are large and provide shade. The city takes very good care of this park, treating it like the historical treasure it is.
