This Mexican restaurant took over for the Bobby Salazar’s that was in the Galleria shopping center at the Fresno Civic Center. They advertized a chile verde plate, so I decided to give it a try. The chile was mild and tender. The new owners did some minor remodelling to have a small bar area with a flatscreen TV. A small bowl of chips and salsa arrived as soon as I thought, «Hey, we do get chips and salsa here, right?» Some of the chips were dyed green — for Christmas perhaps?
While I wouldn’t call it as authentic as Castillo’s, for those downtown or on jury duty, you could do far worse if you were in the mood for Mexican. I cleaned my plate, so I can’t give it any less than four stars.
