Wasabi

Fresh sushi. Fairly priced. The conveyor belt is «nifty» idea. Quick grab and eat. Miso was good. Bowl experience wasn’t great — but good menu otherwise.
If you’ve got an itch and in a pinch, go for it. If you can hold off — do.

A nice place in the middle of the Stone briar Mall. Not fine sushi but good quality compared to most mall food. The conveyor belt is a cool touch.
I wouldn’t drive to the mall just to eat here but I would certainly eat here the next time I am at the mall.

Well– There isn’t much to write about. We went during happy hour on a Tuesday. It is a neat concept, so props to them on that. The sushi obviously didn’t taste fresh, but was still ok. The volcano california roll, spicy tuna roll and kawa something roll were all good, nothing to brag about.
Overall, I would say this is where you go when you want to eat sushi… at the mall. I wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

This was a one time thing for me. The concept of the food moving around was good. My meal was average for mall food.

Really enjoyed my dinner!!! Now get this people it isn’t you’re fancy high end sushi! I wasn’t expecting top of the line and I think that’s what helped.
My boyfriend suggested it after watching a movie. Really love the concept here! The food was ok– again nothing that’ll blow your socks off. I really enjoyed the dragon and california roll. Dessert was creamy and served cold for perfection! The service was ok also for a mall restaurant. I will most definitely eat here again when I’m in the mall!!!

I’m rounding up from 2.5 stars, but the place is really about a 2.5 star joint. The concept is fun; I first encountered it in Tokyo back in the mid ‘90s when I was working there, but it’s watered down a bit here by US health laws. We sampled a number of items, mostly in roll form, but I did ask for an order of tuna nigiri, and what came out was at least slightly above average, as was most of what was on the belt. A spicy tuna roll tasted really strange, so I sent it away, but the rest of what we had was decent.
Probably also prompting the rounding up was the availability of Sapporo beer, one of my favorites, and it helped the food go down well.
Bottom line, it’s a fun place to go once or twice, but it’s not really destination dining. We were kind of in a hurry because we only had a limited amount of time to eat, so it was good for that.

I love me some conveyor belt sushi but the sushi here was pretty bad. It looked pretty and the service was great. I did not actually like anything I ate here though. Everything tasted bland. I also think they overcharged slightly for the quality. We even had a seasonal roll (there was no description). It tasted like wrapped up coleslaw. I tasted it but I couldn’t eat it. The selection was not that great either. I was expecting more special rolls. I wish the food was better because I always have fun at conveyor belt sushi places.

I had the chance to finally try this place out with a friend and the experience was very unique, yet the food lacked in quality and taste.
The location is set smack dab in the middle of the mall, and I actually don’t like it that much because you have to see all the shoppers as you eat and they tend to stare at you. However, it was my first experience with conveyor belt sushi, and I thought it was pretty interesting.
So, basically how it works is you can either grab stuff off the conveyor belt, or if you prefer more fresh food, you can choose to just order the food from the waiters. I had the teriyaki, shrimp crunchy rolls, edamame, dim sum, as well as some dessert to top it all off.
The teriyaki was a little dry, and it seemed more like grilled chicken with some microwaved sauce on top. All of the «crunchy”/ fried food at this place is kind of soggy and not very tasty because they microwave all their food since they don’t have a fryer. You can definitely taste the lack of effort in the food since they heat everything up. The two things that I enjoyed were the edamame and the dessert. I’m always a huge fan of edamame, and the waiter brought it with seasoning on top, and it was very tasty. And my belief is that if the main meal isn’t good enough, try and make it up with some good dessert. So, I ordered the tiramisu, and I feel like it was out of a box, but it was still good. It’s cake after all, and I love all cake: D
Overall, I probably wouldn’t come here again, at least not for sushi. Maybe I’ll stop by some dessert some time when I am tired from all the shopping!

Me and a buddy decided to give it a try after shopping and walking around the mall; it really is convenient and a change from the food court regulars. The concept is cool but the food… not so much. I will start with the concept — I love it. I love the conveyor belt that reminds me of one of my nephews elaborately set up train tracks that loops and winds and just looks pretty coming down the escalators. There was no wait… we were sitting at the little conveyor belt in no time. The colors were all bright and the menu setup was straight forward — grab what you want off the belt — the color of the plate will tell you the price (you have the price «legend» in front of you). Server was friendly and quick with the drinks/​answering questions about the food.
The sushi plates didn’t look all that appetizing. And there weren’t that many in rotation to me. I saw maybe 3 plates that piqued my interest. I ended up trying a standard california roll, a Kazuyo and the Tamago roll. Pretty bland, not much fish/​substance to the rolls, not a lot of flavor… okay I guess. Not memorable, not spectacular, not amazing, not even pretty good, but okay. I also ended up trying a Ramune and I liked it lol — very fun little ball in the drink.
Would I go back? Might. But probably not.

I think the experience is cool but there are some areas of improvement. I got scared because the whole back dining area was empty but dirty dishes and silverware. No one had cleaned. I also worry how they keep track of items on the belt. How do they know when its been out too long? Some of the sushi didn’t look too appetizing. It looked messy, like they were in a hurry and it sat lop sided. Some of the fish looked brown and some rolls seemed like they were shorted on the amount of fish. My server was nice — so no issues there. For the price, you can have better elsewhere. But it was cool and convenient.

Love all the bright colors and how you can people watch while eating. However, the food was just ok. If you need something fast and quick, grab a couple of plates here. I was meeting up with a friend to eat lunch and shop around a bit. We had the sweet potato roll, shrimp dumplings, and another roll that has crab and seaweed salad on top (forgot the name of the roll). It wasn’t too bad — the roll w/​the crab and seaweed salad was our favorite. Service was great and staff is very friendly.
It was fun looking at all the food go around and around, but then it got us to thinking how fresh the food is if it’s been on the belt for who knows how long. It’s a great idea, but not so fresh.

Keep your expectations low and I promise you won’t be disappointed. It’s a sushi joint at the mall that sends out dishes via a conveyor belt. All the dishes are tagged with RFID chips so the chefs know when to take something off if it’s been circulating too long. The plates are color coded based on price, so whenever something looks delicious, just grab it and enjoy. They’ll count up your plates at the end of the meal and charge you based on that.
They do have a few hot dishes like chicken teriyaki that you can order off the menu. Also, if you see a roll you want that isn’t coming off the conveyor belt, you can always order it off the menu. When I stopped by with a friend, we had to wait about ten minutes for something that wasn’t a Philadelphia roll. I wish I had known about ordering the rolls off the menu so I wouldn’t have had to wait that long.
The sushi is decent, nothing too inventive and they serve several classic rolls. I would not go out of my way to stop by here, but I would return for a quick bite while shopping at Stonebriar. Solid Three-​Stars

If you want quick, good sushi, whether it’s lunch or dinner… this is your place. I went for lunch, I had an hour to eat and being that it’s a conveyor belt serving the sushi, there was no wait for anything. I enjoyed the California Volcano Roll, the Shrimp Tempura Roll and the Peanut Butter & Jelly Roll, YES you read that right… they were all freshly made, VERY good!

This is a really fun concept, and the restaurant looks really cool too. However, I’m disappointed it wasn’t executed well in the kitchen. With such cheap dishes, I wasn’t expecting much from the quality, but this was… way below my expectations. Mall sushi isn’t great in the first place, but if you open up a restaurant with service, it’s hard to imagine that the food would be even worse quality than a food court sushi stand.
I get that they are for quick and convenient, but leaving ginger and wasabi out by the hostesses is just lazy. All I can recall is dryness. Dry ginger, dry sushi rice, dry fish.
It speaks volumes when you leave a place thinking, «I hope I don’t get sick.» I really wish I had better things to say about this place. They are definitely doing it right with the tech stuff — conveyor belt, Instagram contest, RFID tags to determine which dishes have been picked up so that the chefs will prepare more — but I can’t recommend this place at all.
I give this place 2 stars: one as a default, and the second because it is very cheap.

Don’t eat here. You get better sushi at Kroger.
The rice is dry, the tuna is black and the sushi all taste similar. The edamame was dry. There was plastic in a piece of sushi.
The hostess was either rude, dumb, or both. Ask for forks but she said there wasn’t any. They had forks. They just needed to wash them. Instead of saying they didn’t have any, she should have said the forks were being washed and she’ll get them to us when they’re done.
Service was slow but our server was very pleasant. She was actually the highlight of our meal. Too bad she works here. I’m sure she’ll make better tips else where.

Conveyor belt sushi is certainly a fun concept but eating in the middle of the mall is a tad strange! Having been to a conveyor belt sushi joint before, I sorta knew what to expect. The sushi moves along the belt, the color plate determines the price of the item ($ 2.50 — $ 5.00) and if it looks good to you, grab it! They do have a menu that you can order from if you want something that you don’t see on the belt. It seems that its mostly the basics (spicy tuna, cali roll, crunchy salmon, etc…), so don’t expect to see an inventive roll on that belt. The sushi is not the best at all, but its decent and edible.
My friend and I went midweek to grab dinner before a movie. Lots of open tables and plenty of staff around. I note this because a lot of the tables were left «un-​bussed» for the entire length of our meal. woof. The crowd was small and since we were helping ourselves to food, someone could have easily cleaned up those tables. This location does offer a Happy Hour. It doesn’t include any food but it did include 50% off drinks. I tried the ginger cosmo and my gal pal had a margarita of sorts. Eh, both were fine.
I won’t hurry back, but I also won’t run in the other direction to stay away. Keep your expectations right and you’ll do just fine here!

Most of the selections are Americanized! Lots of different Philadelphia rolls! They even had a roll with Old bay seasoning. We got it bc it was a blue crab roll, which could have been good, if they didn’t mess it up with an Old Bay seasoning! Seriously?!
One of the selections they had was a small bowl of rice crackers and wasabi pea mix! Stay away. And as I am typing, I am feeling nauseous fr the sushi I ate, and everything I ate was cooked sushi!

Wasabi is one of my favorite places to eat when I go shopping at Stonebriar Centre. Its quick and easy. I honestly think it is a good concept. Given this place has only been open since June? I’m pretty sure in the beginning it was a bit rough on some people which is expected. I love the fact the servers do their best to accommodate to everybody needs.
Here are some tips if you do decide to try this place out.
–I learned the sushi are kept on a microchip which a computer lets the kitchen know how long the sushi has been on the conveyor belt. Once it is passed a certain a mount of time, it’s actually taken off! It was kind of cool watching. Watching the person put sushi out and take sushi off, it looked like it was a game.
–Plates are color coordinated and vary in price. $ 2.50-$ 5.00
–If you don’t see the sushi you want, you can actually ask the server to help or even order it for you.
–There are other options if you do not prefer sushi. ie: salads, chicken teriyaki, miso soup, wasabi miso (my favorite)
–Kid bento box options (peanut butter and jelly rolls, chicken teriyaki, and california rolls)
–I know if one is hesitant of the quality of the sushi, you can ask the server to order a fresh one. (heads up it sometimes does take time to roll sushi — its like that in any sushi restaurant — it takes time)
Overall its fun watching things go by but I am glad I do have an option to order things if it is not on the conveyor belt. I do recommend this place if you are hungry in the middle of your shopping. :D

Finally got to try this place tonight for dinner and unfortunately it was very disappointing.
The concept is good and the place looks great, but the waitstaff is confused and unorganized at best.
Our waiter first took 10 minutes to even come to our table and then came back three times to confirm our order of a coke, a Dr. Pepper an apple juice and a bento box. Not that hard?!
That would have been forgivable, since the concept doesn’t rely too much on the server, but unfortunately the sushi wasn’t great either.
My staple on which I judge the basics of a sushi place is the spicy tuna roll. It’s not that complicated and if they can’t make that taste good then there is not much hope.
Here, unfortunately, it wasn’t good. The tuna was a little dark (older looking) with little flavor, which was overpowered by the large amount of red pepper (or whatever red spicy flakes they use).
The salmon nigiri was better in taste, but the salmon was sliced extremely thin, so the balance between the rice and the fish was off. Oh, and the rice had almost no vinegar taste which sushi rice should have.
Altogether, an expensive attempt that left us unsatisfied.

Good concept for a fast, non-​food court lunch option at the mall. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but it was reasonably priced and above average in taste. Every table is alongside a conveyor belt, on which different rolls, nigiri, appetizers, and dessert options rotate. Different colored plates on the conveyor belt cost different amounts (ranging from $ 2.50-$ 5.00), and you can also order off of the menu if you want something that’s not in the current rotation. They also have a kids menu, and pb&j rolls in the rotation on the conveyor belt. Hubs and I shared several plates for lunch and it ran us about $ 30.
The best bang for your buck is the crunchy salmon roll; 6 pieces for $ 3.50, fresh, with just the right amount of spicy sauce and a cup of tempura crunch bits that you add to the roll yourself. The Philly roll was decent at $ 3. The nigiri (tuna and salmon available) was pretty good; again, not the best, but not bad. There was a special roll that started with a K (sorry, can’t remember the name exactly) with tempura shrimp inside and tuna on top for $ 5 that was particularly good.
Visit Wasabi remembering that you’re in a mall and you’ll be pleased. This isn’t meant to be a fancy sushi restaurant. I’ll definitely come back.
