We stopped by there today only to see that they are closed. It looks like they went out of business.

I took my wife for sunday breakfast at Spadra. Since I’ve been bugging her to try this place, I was happy she finally agreed to go. I was so disappointed. Service was terrible, they gave us utensils that had food particles in them and the coffee cup was dirty(YUCK) and when we told the waitress, the only explanation she gave us was Ooops…(Ooops ?) The Food was average, nothing special. I had better breakfast at Kimmie’s The interior is dark and it smelled like wet rags. My wife was so disappointed that every time I try to suggest a new place I want to try, she always reminds me of Spadra.(Ooops !)

Nice cozy restaurant in downtown Fullerton. Restaurant was fairly quiet with just a few other couples dining. I tried the Capellini Giardino and it was okay. We sat in the northern part of the restaurant… everytime the waiters have to go up and down this little staircase… couple times I though the waiter was not going to make it… Service after the meal was served was slow. Thus my drink refill was long overdue. Its one of those places that was good at the moment, but it didn’t leave you with that OMG I have to come back feeling. I’ll put it in the queue for one more try.

its a huge bummer that i have to give this place 1 star… a really good friend of mine comes here all the time and finally got me to come check it out for brunch. i was diggin it… you get to sit outside on a cute little patio, not too crowded, awesome prices, great food. i was ready to come back every sunday. UNTIL the owner came over. hes an old guy with white hair. he was making his rounds sayin hi to everyone which i thought was rad. he reminded me of an old boss i had back when i was a server. so he says hello to us and proceeds to tell us a joke. no big deal… until i heard the joke. i wont share it because i dont want anything to do with it but the punchline pertained to hanging the president. i was shocked. we stared at him like«are you F***ing kidding??» my friend shook her hand and said…“no…thats not good.” i was beside myself. its 2009, REALLY? maybe if it was 1860 and i lived in alabama it wouldnt have been so shocking to hear but in CALIFORNIA in 2009??? i dont know what he was thinking to make him think it was ok to tell that joke to his customers but BIG F***INGMISTAKE idiot. i’m stubborn about things that are important to me and something like this is a guarantee that i will never step foot in your establishment again. i heard that the restaurant is for sale… if and when it sells to a new owner i would love to go back. in the meantime dont support this racist f***.

The Fried Mozarella here is great and they have a nice sunday brunch, but I am unimpressed otherwise! Everything here was ok, don’t get me wrong the food here is not bad. The food is A-Ok. However, they market it as a Fine Dining establishment but its really not a fine dining place. The food here is good, My friend ordered the steak with rosemary sauce and she said it was pretty tasty. My pasta dish was ok, but not great. The food is decent and its not bad if you are in the Fullerton area. However, if you live far away you may be a bit disappointed. Spadra is good but not great if you are coming from a far away distance.

It’s ok. We were there to have Mother’s Day Brunch. We sat outside, 11 of us. I was happy to be outside, as the interior décor was a bit dark. Food: 4.6 Price: 3.5 Service 2 We finished lunch and were in the car @ 1:45. It took forever! You would think it was the Mother’s Day crowd, but I walked through the restaurant around noon and it was only about half way full. The food was good. I had 2 scrambled eggs, bacon«extra crisp, tomato slices and 2 slices of french toast. I would go there again, but live close to Arthur’s.

Food: 4.5 Price: 3.5 Service: 4.5 Décor: 4 Not quite a fan from trying this place, the only two things that would not take me back is the crazy amount of time it took to make our food. We must’ve waited 30 to 45 minutes, and I swear there were only 3 – 4 tables of people there. It was fine because the food was worth it, but when you consider the price also, there are a lot better out there. We had a lob-sided table, which the waiter did help fix without us asking. We were enjoying a nice patio atmosphere… until crows started cawing incessantly around the area for the course of our whole meal.

My bf and I came here for an early dinner and I have to say I am not impressed. It says fine dining on the sign, but fine dining it is not. For starters, the meal came with a small side salad. Dressing was okay, but several brown bits of lettuce? Definitely not okay. The bread was stale and the butter that was served with it was cold as ice. At this point I’m thinking«Oh crap, I hope the main course will be better.» I ordered the Spadra Rigatoni. Rigatoni pasta with a red sauce and ricotta cheese. Simple, right? How can you mess this up? For starters, the sauce had way, way too much basil. The pasta was overcooked and the worst part– there was a huge heap of ice-cold ricotta in the middle of the plate. My boyfriend ordered the special of the day– the seafood fettuccine alfredo. The seafood was not fresh and the sauce was a watered down, poor excuse for a cream sauce. Shrimp was overcooked, the mussels were mush and the scallops were definitely frozen. When our meals came out and our waitress asked if we would like some fresh parmesan cheese, I was amused to find this guy ready with spoon in hand to spoon grated, store bought cheese onto our plates. The waitress we had was nice and attentive, so that explains the two stars. Seriously people, I’d rather eat at a crappy Olive Garden.

Came here with a group of ten for a sendoff dinner and if it weren’t for the free flowing alcohol, this place would have been a one-star. First off, the service is decent. Not great, but not bad either. But the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered some calamari and salmon for appetizers and neither was very memorable. I ordered minestrone and chicken cacciatore as my main course. The minestrone was so bland but tasted very, very healthy. I think most of you know what that tastes like. It tastes like raw veggies but you eat it because it should be good for you and don’t want to cause any drama at someone’s sendoff dinner. The last time I had chicken cacciatore, I remember it being fairly hearty, with a sizable piece of chicken with abundant sauce all around. This was served on a thin piece of chicken(breast?) which was about as thick as a deli sliced piece of cheese. The sauce was OK, but again, nothing truly memorable. Candidly, very bland. The good thing was that since we were seated right by the bar, we had good drink service. I think the alcohol made everyone forget how forgettable the food was. If someone is buying, I’d go again. I wouldn’t spend my own money though.

Went here for a girls brunch and while the company was great, the restaurant left me wanting more. Breakfast served till 2? I love breakfast, but after looking over the menu, I was sort of hoping for the possibility of a lunch menu. I had a scramble, and to be quite honest… it was tasteless. For all of the components in it – there was little to no taste. Salt didn’t help much. One of my friends got the huevos rancheros — it was eggs with a slew of salsa all over the place, she barely touched it. Service was okay, the waitress seemed disinterested even though we were the only people eating there. Looks like they might serve better dinner.

I have been going to Spadra’s(I have always called it Dave’s) for around 6 years now. I enjoy the outside dining. Whether it is for dinner or Sunday Brunch. The servers to the menu will satisfy any pallete.

We went to Spadra for breakfast, and we really enjoyed it. They recommended their. I think it was called Southern Style French Toast, but I found it a bit dissapointing. It sounded really decadent,(coated and deep fried, etc.) but wasn’t flavorful enough not to order just regular french toast. My brother, by the way, did order regular french toast(dont worry, I pointed out how lame he was for it.) and he enjoyed it. I ordered their mushroom crêpe, and forgave them forever for the toast. It had such an awesome blend of flavors and textures I wept a little. Service was good, waitress was really nice, generally a good place. I was surprised though by the number of older OC’ers gettin smashed on a sunday morning. Holy cow. They must have a mimosa well in the back. Made it more fun for me.

For no particular reason, we had not been here since they were called Il Ghiotto, so thought we would try it again. Nice interior ambience. We ordered rigatoni with salmon in a tomato cream sauce. My wife had a shrimp/scallop dish with the same sauce. I thought a tomato cream sauce would be light and more delicate, but this sauce was heavy enough to sink the Titanic. It had nice flavor, but completely overwhelmed the fish. It would have been much better by itself. Service is a bit slow, as if the waitress had too many tables to cover, and we waited for quite a while after we finished for her to appear and ask if we wanted anything else. FYI, Spadra is the former name of nearby Harbor Blvd, the main drag in downtown.

Spadra’s is located in a historic building in Downtown Fullerton. The ambience is relaxing. I have been to this establishment many times over the years. The food and service has always been excellent. I recently had the cannelloni. It is the best I have ever had. The creamy marinara sauce they baked it in is simply delicious. They have an excellent selection of wines too. I completely disagree with other comments about the waiters and waitresses. I found them friendly, efficient and made me feel special. I would also recommend the lemon cheesecake. It is like and airy and taste divine. The weekend brunch is the best bargain in town. I would highly Spadra’s.

Myself, boyfriend and 20 friends came here last Saturday to celebrate my birthday. Let me say it was fantastic! From the way Shannon situated the tables on the patio, to the impecable service. It was great from beginning to end. Breakfast is great here too. It’s a lot of fun to get a group of friends together for brunch and mimosa’s on there patio. Thank you Spadra!!! By the way the owner Dave Rocks and tells funny jokes!

Maybe I just chose unwisely, but I was unimpressed with Spadra. The potato and cheese gnocchi was horribly bland and uninteresting. The only thing that seemed to liven it up was the additional basil that I asked for, as well as the red pepper flakes that I very liberally dumped on top. Only then did the dish have much flavor. One of my friends ordered the gnocchi with white sauce and wasn’t overly thrilled with it either. The service generally was pretty decent except for a slight snafu where one of the waiters mistakenly brought a friend’s chicken salad(which was meant to be her entrée) about 5 minutes before our gnocchi entrees were ready. Our waitress quickly swept up the salad and apologized immediately. One other thing to note is that almost everyone in the restaurant was well into their 60s(and we’re in our 20s and 30s). It was an odd feeling that we were surrounded by white-haired diners.

Good wine, great small town feel, and patient waiters, its a great place. I tried the fried mozzarrella; and everyone is right, it delicious! The sauces are fresh, great wine list, and my angle hair was light and tasty. I need to visit during breakfast however, I’ve heard that they Although, I wouldn’t come here if you have a large group. My group was 7, and and it almost seemed unmangable compared to the small groups of 2 – 3 I saw around.

One of our favorite breakfast joints. One — it’s across the parking lot from the Fullerton Train Station. From their patio, you can see the trains go by — a big plus for our preschooler. Two — they serve a darn good breakfast. Pancake is good — light and fluffy. Good omelets — especially the Fullerton omelet — more similar to a fritata. Also have eggs benedict, breakfast burrito and many others. Lastly, service is friendly and efficient. If you’re looking for a quality breakfast joint with casual, outside seating, this is it.

I went here when it used to be called Il Ghiotto, a far nicer name than the totally bland Spadra, but I digress.(They decided to change the name to pay homage to something about the city’s history, can’t remember exactly.) It’s a sleepy but quaint restaurant located in downtown Fullerton. The clientele skews toward mostly older couples and families. I will maintain that Spadra serves up a fried mozzarrella that will challenge what you thought you knew about fried mozzarella. We’re not talking about those lame battered sticks found at other establishments. We’re talking about a block of gooey choose fried in a light and airy batter that’s absolutely heavenly to eat. Everything else is solid, but nothing mindblowing, like the fried mozzarella.
