Old Mexico Cantina & Grille

Great chicken soup! Served with fresh pico and avocado. also had the mushroom quesadilla. Came with a nice guac salad. Quesadilla was very tasty with a generous filling of mushrooms. Service was friendly and fast. Prices comparable to similar Mexican restaurants. Very convenient to several hotels. Quite, relaxed atmosphere. A good place.

I called in a takeout order and asked for a couple hot sauces. They then charge me for hot sauce and then a take out fee? I asked the lady why you charged me and she said it’s because I asked for hot sauce, not normal salsa? And a take out fee? Seriously? I told her I’ll never return.

OMG great. We even arrived in the middle of the loan around 330 in the afternoon. Great service and great food. We ordered the Caserola grill for my son but it was enough food for three people. All of the meet was perfectly cooked.
I tried something different… The Cocteau de Camaron — it arrived in a huge cocktail dish. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and submerged in a rich yummy yet somehow light tomato and slightly sweet sauce. It was amazing and fun to eat.
All of the appetizers had generous portions too.
Even my daughters meal for children 10 and under was huge and well prepared.

I would really like to take stars away from this establishment!!! Had to assign it at least one star to post. This place was a HUGE disappointment! We tried it out traveling through to Destin based on previous reviews… Should have known that we were in trouble when there was only one other table occupied. Hands down the WORST Mexican restaurant we have eaten at and that includes Taco Bell!). Service was terrible! Food was barely edible and very scarce. My chimichanga had maybe a teaspoon of cheese… that’s being generous! We were NEVER offered refills after receiving our food, we were NEVER checked on. Had to go to the bar and request a refill. When we received the check, we were charged 3.50 extra for requesting some guacamole for taco salad which only had a sprinkle of cheese, lettuce, and chicken and ONE small cherry tomato slice. We were also charged adult prices for three kids drinks and gratuity to boot. We had three adults, three small children… DINERS BEWARE! This place is a NO GO!!!

Ordered the poblanos. Did it like the cheese sauce. Made the food taste like cheap nachos. Ordered a simple tostada instead. They still charged me for the poblanos. Tostada wasn’t good either. How do you mess up a tostada?

The service here is really good. I got seated immediately and before I knew it a margarita was at my table. The margarita was the best thing I had. The food was ok. It came out really quick. I had an enchilada and burrito combo. They were identical other than size. The beef didn’t have much flavor and both were bland. The rice and beans were better. I was disappointed as this was the highest ranked restaurant in the area.

Food is delicious, service fast and what could be better than a server with right attitude and great smile? Probably one of the best restaurants experiences ever! Def ll be back!

Just typical beans and rice. Tasteless meat wrapped up in a shell. I’ve had way better. No love in this food. Servers were great and outward property appearance very nice.

Food is good. The menus were dirty, I don’t like the auto taxation. 15% tip added if 6 or more. I tip by service. Auto tip usually guarantees fair service but not good or great service. This proved true here. The auto tip amount line was there but it was not very noticeable. I guess they hoped I would double tip. Sorry the service didn’t warrantee that

We love the authentic Mexican food-​tamale in corn husk, wonderful chili relleno, generous guacamole, heavenly shrimp salad. Also great, friendly service. Love the décor and music which makes you feel like you are in Mexico!

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS GOOD!!! Service and food… outstanding! Food for the money… AMAZINGLY large portions. One can easily make a meal off the app list.

Good local Mexican food. Was in town on business. They are set up for take out. If I come back to the area I’ll be back. I had the Poblanos and they were awesome

Took the husband out for his birthday weekend and we came here. The atmosphere is really nice and tonight they had a live band!!! I told the waiter that it was my husband’s birthday and they came and did a big song and dance for him. This place is a good place to go and throw a few back!!!

Came here for lunch and split the shrimp fajitas flaming cheese. It was pretty good, but nothing special. Not a lot of flavor. Sweet tea was on point though haha

Great prices and they give you a lot of food. As long as you aren’t expecting authentic Mexican this is a good place to fill your stomach that will keep the tastebuds happy. Service was fast and when you sit down they give you a huge plate of tortilla chips and plenty of salsa which will be more than enough for two.

Since most people only seem to write reviews when they are not happy, thought I would write when I was happy. Good service, friendly greeting. Great margaritas. Food was good but not outstanding but large quantity for the price so good value. All 3 of us liked it fine.

This is not where you want to go if you are a fan of authentic Mexican food. This was very Americanized. If you prefer your salsa on the bland side and queso (cheese) on everything, then you will be happy here. I was craving Mexican on a long drive home so stopped in.

Great chicken quesadilla! The mexican rice was good too. A lot of mexican places’ mexican rice is always dry. This wasn’t, it was perfect! I sat at the bar and the bartender was real cool and attentive. Got a chicken quesadilla, side of rice, and a dos equis for under $ 10. Great value!

Service was good. But I barely made it back to my hotel room (right behind the restaurant) before I threw up. Don’t do it folks.

Old Mexico has been on my «To-​Do» list for quite some time, so Girlfriend and I stopped by here for dinner the other night. I really enjoy Mexican restaurants and I was really pleased with this place!
The restaurant is decorated with a lot of «old wood» and lots of items reminiscent of Mexico There’s a huge fan over part of the bar and dining area and by huge I mean ginormous. The booths were big and comfortable and the air conditioning was nice and cold (especially considering how hot it was outside).
As soon as we were seated, we were brought some tasty warm chips and salsa. We immediately dug in. Our waiter was very friendly and came over right away to take our drink orders. After we got our drinks, we placed our food order… I had the steak fajitas, and Girlfriend had the Mexican Lasagna. It didn’t take any time at all for our food to arrive. I was surprised at how quickly it showed up!
I got three plates of food with my steak fajitas. There was the standard plate full of sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, rice and refried beans. All the toppings were fresh and very good. I used some of the rice and beans in my fajitas too. Plate number two consisted of a small foil wrapped package of three tortilla shells. Plate three is the «hot plate» and had a huge heaping portion of steak, green peppers and onions. It was so much food that I needed more tortilla shells (which you can get for free, all you have to do is ask). The steak was moist and tender and was seasoned well. It had such a great flavor, that I could have just eaten the steak! I ate all of this huge meal that I could, but I couldn’t finish it all…
I did manage to steal a bite of Girlfriends Mexican Lasagna, which consisted of meat and veggies wrapped in a pasta like shell and smothered in cheese. It was cheesey-​greasy heaven. Someone at your table should definitely get it so that you can all steal a bite!
This was a great restaurant experience. Our waiter kept up with the drink refills and was very friendly. The food was good and if you are looking for some good Mexican food, you should give Old Mexico a shot!
