We went in late Saturday morning @ 11am. Peak brunch time for most restaurants with this type of menus so we did not mind waiting for the quoted 20 minutes. As we stood there, noticed an entire section with no guest. After 10 minutes or so they started seating that section. So we did not have to wait that long to be seated. That’s were it ended! We waited for someone to take our drink order. The hostess delivered our drinks a few minutes later. Then we had a «just short of walking out» wait(~20 min) before our waiter took our meal order. They had pancake bites so we ordered them as an app. That was 30 minutes ago… At almost 40 minutes, our waiter asked if we ever got our pancake bites. He came back with an update on the bites and our meals(2 minutes on the bites and 6 – 8 on the meals). At least them comp’d the bites. Finally, almost 50 minutes from order to table. The one good thing, was the food was fairly good(for Denny’s). Definitely, not worth the wait but good.

We got here Saturday morning for breakfast and were seated quickly, I’m guessing Bc the place was pretty empty. 25 minutes passed by before someone came by to ask about drinks. Another 20 passed by before someone took our order and almost one hour before we got our burned and cold food. I’m not sure if it’s lack of proper staffing or lack of proper managing, but what a horrible experience. You could tell we weren’t the only ones who were less than pleased as you saw the angry faces of other customers in the restaurant

People walking out after waiting too long. Waiter giving milk because out of cream for coffee and thinking it wouldn’t be noticed. Short staffed in kitchen. Dirty bathrooms. Etc.

I ate here twice. Slow service and less-than-dennys quality. I’m surprised this place is still open.

I ate here a few months back after not having had a Denny’s meal since 1998(due to moving a lot and being unaware there was a Denny’s here in Gainesville.) I decided to drop in for the first time in over 17 years to see how it is. The waitress was good, polite, and helpful but that is where the good review stops. I ordered a cheese burger with fries and I must say I was very disappointed. Flavor was bad, the cheese looked awful, and the fries were not too tasty. The only good tasting thing was the honey mustard sauce. Customer service was good, no problems there, but the food quality was just not there like it was in 98. Hopefully they get better with the food but good customer service. The 1 star rating is squarely for the food not the staff or customer service I got.

Waited 45 mins and was told that our order hasn’t been even put in. Employees weren’t properly trained, and looks like everybody is busy for nothing. I feel bad that I have to give it 1 star.

Saturday morning and a Belks 70% off charity sale led to four hours of shopping and a breakfast emergency. I say emergency because I had been shopping and doing the bag carrying routine on nothing more substantial than a nice mug of PG Tips tea. My stomach was approaching my backbone! So we took a break to grab a quick breakfast at the local Dennys. Big mistake. Sure they have food. Yes, they applied heat and made things warmer and crispier. But the portions were so small I had to order double hash browns, double bacon, and double eggs(that means 4). The combined size of this order was about that of the box a Whopper used to come in. Pretty tiny. I asked to see the manager, thinking that maybe my order had not been doubled. Nope. That was the double! She said, it was the cost of living and inflation! Really? The only thing that they couldn’t downsize were the eggs, and they were smalls to mediums at best. I gave two stars instead of one, simply because of the niceness and attentive attitude of Tony our server. For breakfast food in Gainesville, try Longstreet Café, Waffle House, or IHOP. P. S. I changed my mind. One star only.

Came on a Sunday where they were short staffed. Took waitress 10 mins to acknowledged us at the bar which she later apologized. 2 couples walked out while we were waiting for food. Breakfast overall was good. Coffee kinda blah.

Great food and rustic like atmosphere. Love that they have calorie counts on the menu. Free Grand Slam on day of your birthday. Plus it was customer appreciation day and I won a free shake that is delicious.

The good news was that we found a restaurant that didn’t have a long wait at lunch time on a Sunday. The bad news was we learned why. Upon entering, we were led past several empty booths to a booth right beside a booth occupied by a family with a infant that was crying. Loudly. The server was friendly, and asked almost immediately if we were ready to order. We asked for a minute, since, although they seem to have a pretty clear-cut menu, it was our first time at a Denny’s. While my husband and daughter opted for breakfast fare, the pot roast caught my eye and I ordered that. I asked if I could get some kind of bread with it and the waitress explained it was served on a slice of toast. That sounded good, so I waited, anticipating a yummy reminder of home. Meanwhile, the child in the next booth continued to cry and whine«owwww». I know there’s nothing the staff could do about the little one, I just ponder the reason we were assigned that location in a half-empty restaurant. When the food arrived, we asked for some silverware, which the waitress had to go to the back to bring. She did so quickly and courteously. Though the food looked appetizing, I quickly noticed something unexpected. I have never had pot roast with mushrooms in it. This had a LOT of mushrooms, so much that it was a prevalent flavor. I tried to pick through it and eat some, but the potatoes were thick and pasty, almost like instant potatoes. I finally realized I could not eat 9.99 worth, so I asked if I could have something else. The waitress told me there were mushrooms in lots of their stuff. She stood at the table waiting while I looked at the menu for other options. I chose french toast and bacon, which was what my daughter had eaten(she and my husband had already finished). The toast edge was burnt and the bacon was flabby, like that which has been cooked in a microwave. Even the orange juice tasted watery. No manager came to our table, and we were charged full price for my replacement, which was an opportunity for customer service missed. It was an utter disappointment. Even the checkout procedure was awkward, with us having to write the tip amount on the check before she ran the card. Awkward! Perhaps ours was an exception and others have had great experiences. Denny’s might be America’s Diner, but our family will be eating somewhere else in the future.

Yes, it is Dennys. So what? I’m not too proud to admit that I like a good burger, or an occasional skillet of home fries and eggs for supper! This Dennys is a little nicer than most, and the staff is very friendly. We have eaten here twice now, and the food has been very good both times. Love that Dennys has turkey bacon as alternative on the breakfast menu. Can’t understand why the restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday night when IHOP down the street had a wait. Dennys has a better menu, better coffee and this location has a MUCH better décor and atmosphere. Come over to Dennys, folks! Let’s give them some business and keep them in business! Gainesville needs decent late-night dining available!

At 6:30PM during what should be dinner rush there was only one single person on the floor who was supposed to be a waiter. Poor guy had only been here 3 days and had to act as a host after we were left standing at the front for 5 minutes. Then he didn’t even know if there was a sperate kids menu(we had two toddlers with us, twins) so we had to look up the kids menu online with our phone. Then there was only a place seeing for two and there were 4 of us. So far not a good visit. Haven’t received our food yet. Hopefully it’s better than our experience so far.

It’s Denny’s; you already know if you like their food or not so you don’t need me to review that. Personally, I do like their food and I very much enjoyed the Eggs in a Basket I had. The service was just kind of okay. There was a guy there who looked like he might be the manager but he didn’t appear to me to be a service-first type of person; in other words, I don’t think the leadership was good on service and consequently it’s no shock that the staff was not great on service either.

Denny’s is one of those franchises that you can count on, like waffle house or McDonald’s you always know what you’re going to get. This Denny’s may be the exception. This was our first visit to this location today, and we were less than impressed. To start with the hostess walks over, without greeting us at all, just barks«booth or table». I ask her to repeat herself so she practically yelled«booth or table» so I said booth. She proceeded to just walk away without another word. She was halfway across the restaurant before she realized we were NOT following her and she came back and just rudely told us to follow her. This was about 12:30 on Sunday, October 5th so managers please take note, this young woman has no business being the hostess. Perhaps a kitchen position would be better suited to her talents and abilities. Here’s the really disappointing part though, the food was not great. I had eggs that i requested to be scrambled hard and they were gooey and runny, pancakes were very bland and syrup was way too sweet, even for pancake syrup. It was like pancake syrup on steroids. The bacon was good. My dining partner had the veggie omelette and it actually would have been good but the cheese in the omelette was Velveeta. The nasty tasting velveeta just ruined any goodness in the omelette. He did enjoy the pumpkin coffee. There was a sign n the restaurant stating«free wifi» but it wasn’t working today. We like Denny’s so we will continue to patronize their other locations but not a fan of this one.

We tried to go here at 11:10 today. We came in right behind another couple and overheard the cashier/hostess tell them she’d be with them in a moment. She then cashed out a ticket instead. When she finished that ticket, another customer came up to pay and she helped them instead of seating anyone. Then more people arrived waiting to be seated. But instead of seating anyone, she checked out another ticket for a customer who had just gotten to the register! There were about ten people at this time crowded in a tiny area waiting to be helped. The cashier and hostess should not be the same employee! And if they were short handed, then there should have been a manager up front helping.
