Today was my second time visiting this salon. I was greeted by a very pleasant front desk receptionist, I received an AMAZING shampoo and Judy did an AWESOME job on my hair. I wanted a fun color and I received just that! I highly recommend Aurelia.

I love this place! The shampooing massage is so relaxing. My hair stylist (Margie) knows my hair and how to make a style work for my ultra fine hair. I have been coming here for over 17 years. They make me feel so special.

Love, love, LOVE this salon! I love the décor (so unique… it’s gorgeous), the atmosphere, and the people. Everyone is so friendly here. It was my first time going to this salon and I already felt like one of the «regulars.» Erin is an amazing stylist… an artist, really. She did such an incredible job on my hair color. I really think the prices are very reasonable too, given the level of service you get here. Also, they don’t try to push a ton of products on you either, which is nice. Not that I wouldn’t love to buy everything they have here (Erin used some kind of vegetable texturizing protein on my hair that smells AMAAAAAZING), but sometimes a girl’s got to pick and choose where her money goes, so it was really nice to be able to go in and get my hair done without feeling like I was committing a crime of humanity against my hair for not buying $ 200 worth of additional product.
I’d been looking for a new salon for a while. I’ve definitely found it!

I tried this salon because I needed a haircut and I had a few hours to kill in Gaithersburg. I called the salon and asked if they had a stylist available who specialized in curly hair. They said they did so I went in. I explained to the stylist that I wear my hair curly and let it air dry. After the cut she started to blow it out w/​a round brush. I asked her not to b/​c then I wouldn’t be able to see what the cut would really look like on me b/​c I don’t blow dry my hair, I let it go curly. She then put a diffuser on the dryer and began vigorously rubbing my scalp with her hand. It looked like I’d just been riding a motorcycle without a helmet for five hours — my hair was frizzing to such an extent. The owner or manager stopped by and said, «This looks great!» and I said, «No, it looks horrible.» (I have never complained in a salon before.) The manager/​owner then explained to the stylist that w/​curly hair «less is more» and she shouldn’t rub my head. THAT IS WHY I ASKED FOR SOMEONE WHO KNEW CURLY HAIR. They ended up having to re-​wash my hair and start styling again. That’s when I noticed she’d cut my hair so it was a big V at the bottom down my back. She cut the back over again to make it a halfway decent cut but really only halfway. I was so disappointed. Despite my obvious lack of satisfaction there was no offer of a discount at all, and I didn’t ask for one, I just wanted to get out of there. And the cut was over $ 50. I then had to have my hair re-​cut at a salon where they have more training.

I went in with a coupon on a whim. I desperately needed my hair cut and styled for an event that evening. I loved the atmosphere and met Barbara, who immediately impressed me with a quick consult of what I wanted done and what I expected. From there I was amazed. She did my hair EXACTLY how I wanted it, offered great suggestions and showed me how to style it easily at home. I seriously was so impressed with her and the other staff at the salon. Never in my life have I had my hair cut and done exactly how I was expecting/​wanted. She was so great I can’t stop raving about her. Usually stylists don’t even listen and just do what they want and are comfortable with. She even perfectly styled my unmanageable bangs and gave me tips how to style at home. Thank you for a wonderful experience! I will definitely be back soon & already referred friends :)

This is a great salon, but the best part about it is Erin, my stylist. Like one of the previous reviewers, I have been going to Erin for years and I plan to follow her wherever she might go.
The salon itself is great — relaxing, trendy ambiance, comfortable chairs, lots of styling magazines, unlimited coffee and tea… and there’s usually some chocolate sitting out, too. :) The hair washing station is very comfortable with barcalounger-​style chairs and the girls who wash your hair are incredibly nice and give great scalp massages. Everyone at this salon is incredibly friendly and the prices can’t be beat! It’s the least amount of money I’ve paid for the best cut and color since I moved to the DC area.
As for Erin, she’s the only stylist who consistently gives me great cuts, colors (and I’ve done it all!) and tips on styling my hair myself. She’s got great ideas, is very talented and is a lot of fun to chat with. She’s great for product and tool suggestions, too.
Give Erin a shot… you’ll never go to another stylist!

This place is fantastic! Everyone was super nice and the first thing they asked me was if I’d like something to drink. My hair stylist was awesome! She gave me the perfect haircut and gave me tips on how to do certain hair styles. I’m definitely going back.
