Thank you for reaching out but I doubt it is under any type of new management. Your posts about being an attorney and threatening legal action against negative or mediocre reviews has gotten unwanted attention to your business through Unilocal. My original review wasn’t even bad. It was just ok with a bit of humor. I see the overall consensus through your other customers have been… Mediocre at best. Overall bad management and this failed attempt to reconcile has failed miserably.

If you liked reheated chicken, then this is the place for you. I was hungry in Gaithersburg and dropped in. I had the the lunch special which was a leg was small and as I said reheated or just kept warm. Definitely not fresh. The skin was not crisp. The fried plantains were«meh» as my my son says. I definitely will not go back unless I am desperate. Sardis is so much better.

Stopped by here on a whim on a Friday evening. The chicken is delicious. It was definitely seasoned — maybe a bit much for me, but I’m not a salt fan, so probably perfect for everyone else. The sauces are very good(and no, I don’t want to know what’s in them). It took less than 5 minutes. The plaintains were a treat and I truly enjoyed each one. Sounds like when they had a groupon they were a small business overwhelmed with too many customers — totally their fault, but I think you should not overlook this gem. Hopefully they will stay away from offering groupons. It was more food than I could even eat alone… and yet, I managed. LOL. I’d call ahead next time I go and not even wait the 5 minutes.

As I no longer work as close to Old Town Gaithersburg, it took a Groupon to encourage me to revisit this old favorite. Reading some of the unfavorable reviews that have accumulated in recent years, I was curious to see for myself how things had evolved. This review summarizes what I discovered. First, the chicken was generally as good as I remembered, although broader experience now tells me it lacks the seasoning you may find at other Peruvian rotisseries. I was a bit surprised, as some have noted, that their signature product was essentially cooked to order. While this is certainly more favorable than chickens sitting around in a warmer, it took almost 20 minutes to get in and out at dinnertime on a Monday night. Be sure to call ahead if you are ordering chicken and think it could be a slow night. Minus one half star. NOTE: While waiting for my chickens to go, I opted to devour a plate of arroz chaufa pollo. Tasty and cooked-to-order, but a bit on the oily side … and light on the pollo. Second, the potato salad is NOT the same recipe they were using in 2007 … and the new recipe truly pales by comparison. Gone are the fresh, crispy veggies and eggs. In their place is what appears to be some sort of butter substitute. They looked almost like cold mashed potatoes. While the taste was ok, it was not the grand recipe that used to set the local standard for potato salad. Loss of one star for replacing a menu gem with a menu dud. All other things remain about the same, including the loud dining area(which seemed almost noisier than before). The spicy aji yellow sauce and spicy green sauce are still among the best in the area, but they strictly regulate exactly how many cups of each go out with each meal … and they do(as others have noted) charge extra for add’l sauces. Minus one half star. Unfortunately, charging for extra sauce … and not having sufficient customer volume to warrant keeping chickens in the oven … combined with a complete misunderstanding of the value of online promotions like Living Social and Groupon(which they offer, but then renegotiate the deal when you arrive) … tells me this is a restaurant in steep decline. Local competition offering quicker service, free sauces, and a better overall experience is one thing. But running promotions that ultimately ANGER potential customers is another thing entirely. They can do better. And until they do, you probably have better options, as well.

Terrible and dishonest business… would never go back again… I’d give zero star if there’s such option. Got a Groupon deal to go… ordered a Super Family Special with 2 whole chicken and 4 large sides… waited almost half hr for order to be ready. When I checked the order, all 4 large sides were only about half filled. I asked the manager and he said they fill the side by weight? I was thinking like«What the f*ck???» I’ve never heard such thing before… it was very obvious they got cheap with the coupon deal and tried to cheat? I told them this is not the way to do business and they didn’t seem to care. Their location has no designed parking and food is not that good either. There’re many other good Peruvian restaurants in Gaithersburg\Rockvile area… please don’t waste your money and time at this place.

The only reason they get two stars and not one is the food was good. This place is terribly run. We got there and tried to use the Groupon we got today and they claimed they couldn’t take it because they didn’t have the scanner to take it from my phone, I didn’t take«no» for an answer and made them write down the info from the phone, they eventually agreed to take it. Then we ordered 2 lomo saltados, and a family chicken meal. They then told us that they didn’t have any chicken. This was at 5pm at a Puruvian CHICKEN restaurant! I asked how long it would take to cook and he said 45 minutes, so we decided to eat the lomo saltado in and take the chicken to go. In the lomo saltado they used cheap beef, not tenderloin, and it was chopped up like the meat in a steak and cheese sandwich, it did taste good though, so maybe that’s how their mamma cooks it. We waited for the chicken to be done and while they were packing it up to go, I asked for green sauce only(yummy!) and they told me they didn’t have any more! I told him to go in the back and just get me a big container of it, that I didn’t need it to be in the little cups it comes in, he did this upon request, but only gave us a very little. Overall, we did get what we asked for and were allowed to use the groupon, but if I had been nicer and taken«no» for an answer we would have paid $ 48 for dinner, not gotten any chicken and not gotten any green sauce. So unless you are prepared to go and be pushy to get your dinner, you are better off going to Sardi’s.

Great lunch special. Quarter chicken for under seven bucks with drink and one side. Delicious tasty charbroiled chicken cooked to order in five minutes while you watch soccer on the big screen. In the heart of Olde Towne Gaithersburg with plenty of free parking. Friendly staff. Lots of other stuff on the menu besides chicken. Proof its got good food is that the place was busy in the late afternoon on a Saturday with family crowd.

I visited this spot upon the recommendation of a friend. I ordered a whole chicken and large french fries. It didn’t give me a foodgasm like it does for her, but it was good enough. The mild white sauce is spicy for what it is, but I wish they had given me the hotter green sauce, so I could have mixed them. For Peruvian broiled chicken tho, I gotta say I prefer Pollo Rico in Arlington if you’re in the area.

I tried Junior’s for the first time recently and I can’t wait to go back. The Aguadita(chicken gizzard) soup we started with was so comforting — perfect for the cold winter day it was. We ordered one to share and I was wishing I had ordered my own… until I the rotisserie chicken came out, that is. It was close to perfect. The flavor was great, not over or under-seasoned, the meat moist, and probably most importantly to me, the skin was crispy!!! I am so excited about this. I have been struggling with other Peruvian spots’ soggy skinned chickens(which is especially bothersome when«crisp» is actually in the name of the restaurant — check my other reviews if you don’t know which one I’m referring to). The sauces were delicious as expected for a real Peruvian restaurant. The sides were the only thing I didn’t love. Very basic salad with underwhelming dressing — but it provided a bit of the contrast I needed to go with the chicken and rice & beans. Overall, it was a satisfying experience and l’m looking forward to many more.

When I drove past this restaurant I was so delighted because I have been looking for a peruvian chicken place in the area. You order at the counter and wait for the food to come out. I had half a chicken with fried plaintains and yuca. The chicken is average, a little on the salty side and kinda dry. The plaintain was average didn’t have a sweet taste and the yuca is good. The platter came with two little containers of dipping sauce — medium or spicy I got spicy but it was a creamy yellow sauce and it was not spicy unlike the usual green sauce. Anyhow I asked for extra and the server told me I have to pay $ 1.50 for extra sauce I was like– is this for real? I stopped eating my food and threw the rest away. What a turn off. To the owner of this joint I doubt you make more money charging $ 1.50 for sauces.
