This is basically the only Thai place in the area that will deliver to my apartment, which is a large part of what led me to them. Sometimes you just want curry without having to go to the trouble of putting on clothes and moving from in front of Netflix. Is it the best Thai food that I’ve ever had? No. That honor falls to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Chicago, and even in this area there are others that I actually prefer a bit more(but they sadly won’t deliver). While it’s not amazing, though, it’s definitely solid. They’re usually pretty fast at delivery, or at least on a comparative level with other places in the area. The food is consistently good, which is saying quite a bit considering I’ve basically been slowly making my way down their menu. Overall, I definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re ordering delivery or pick-up. I’ve never actually eaten in the restaurant itself, but based on the handful of times I’ve stopped by to pick up my food instead of just having it delivered, I can definitely understand the reviews that say it might not be the best place for eating out.

Enjoyed the Pad Thai with Chicken and Pad See Ew with Beef. Will be back. Glad the menu is now online!

One of my favorite Thai spots and the least expensive one in the area. The pad Thai and pad see-ew are always good. The massamun curry is a good option if you like curry without heat. Only down side is limited seating and food can be a bit too sweet.

My husband and I were thrilled to find this wonderful little Thai place. The food is simply excellent — the vegetables and sauces are fresh and light, there is a wide variety of choices, and you can order tofu or brown rice with any dish. Its in a hard to find location, a bit out of the way, but well worth the effort. Also, its primarily for take out, delivery, or a quick bite; its not really intended to be an in house dining experience. Highly recommend!

I was craving Thai food and wanted something quick. Fortunately, I stumbled on this place while I was« Unilocaling.» I was skeptical about this place, because a lot of the Asian restaurants around the area had great reviews, but were very overrated and underwhelming. I called them for pick-up. I ordered a Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Drunken Noodles(Pad Kee Mao). I was hungry, so I ordered two dishes. It was hard to find this place, because it is hidden behind Panera. Chicken Pad Thai: It was very flavorful and not too salty. The noodles were cooked nicely, and it actually tasted like Thai food. I was surprised how good it was. However, it was slightly sweet. Chicken Drunken Noodles: It was also flavorful with the mint and the hint of spiciness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t spicy enough. I wish I had the option to choose the level of spiciness. Overall, the food is great for the price you pay. It’s very affordable, and they give you a pretty good amount of food. This restaurant is more of a place where you call in to pick-up food or have it delivered. It’s very small and casual. I wouldn’t recommend this as a place to go on a date unless he/she is okay with eating at a small place with the server and cooks staring at you guys a few steps away. Other than that, It’s a great place to grab a quick bite.

Delicious food for a great price. A cozy little spot to enjoy some truly tasty thai food. Lunch specials are all spot on, from the green curry to the drunken noodles. Definitely give this place a try.

Ok quality food. Overall, I’ve had much better. Many of the entrees are fairly bland. Veggie dumplings are a no-no as they were not fully cooked(doughy on the inside) and have a weird taste. They are actually more like dough balls that don’t taste right. However, the fried rice dishes and noodle dishes are slightly better. I recommend sticking with the popular dishes(Pad Thai and similar) as I’ve ventured to the peanut sauce entrees and other dishes which really weren’t done that well compared with other restaurants. I recommend getting the food to go as the atmosphere is cramped and loud due to an open concept with poor design(kitchen, cash register, food prep, dining are all in one open area). Nice staff.

Decent lunch spot but I would not go out of my way for a dinner date here. Flavor is alright but will not wow you. At 7.99 $ for lunch, gotta say, that’s a good deal and I’ll compromise not having the world’s best lunch for a relatively affordable and semi-decent one. Definitely beats frozen food!

New addition to the Kentlands where there has been a need for good, cheap thai. I’ve gotten takeout from here several times and the food is consistently good. Go to orders — Thai Chicken Basil(ka prow), Drunken Noodles(Pad Kee Mao), Lemon Grass Soup(Tom Yum). Glad to have them in the neighborhood, food is of same quality/better than nearby Thaitanium with much better prices.

This is one of my favorite thai spots in the area. The food always tastes fresh and cooked really well! I’m a huge fan of their thai fried rice as well as the drunken noodles. Compared to other sit down restaurants which charge you more for mediocre thai food, this place is WAY better!

Ok I’m being very very generous in giving this place 3 stars. Thai food is my comfort food and when i eat my favorite drunken noodles or pad Thai i want to feel comforted. I placed my order to go and apparently, I was lucky enough to order during lunch time special. So yay. I order drunken noodles and some Thai tea. I go to pick up and the place is very very small. I’m very claustrophobic so this wasn’t good. It wasn’t good that it was 90 degrees outside and inside wasn’t cool. They were mad busy. So i had to wait and wait even though my order was ready. So I pay and make like a tree and leave… I got my noodles, and spring rolls along with my Thai tea. Thai tea was good .one star… Ok I’m About to dive into my drunken noodles and to my dismay they all stuck together like glue… When noodles stick together like that it’s because it wasn’t rinsed throughly to break out the starch or it wasnt cooked long enough… The spices weren’t there it just didn’t wow me like my favorite Thai place. It didn’t have enough meat. I had a tomato overload and that wasn’t ripe and plump as what i used too. Honestly I was deeply disappointed in my dish. My shrimp was dry and it wasn’t deveined all the way! I was biting shrimp tails! Yuck! The spring roll was okay but it almost tasted like I was eating a hollow fried roll. The shrimp rolls were good in the peanut sauce. It was delish. I’m uncertain if I’ll try this place again. But for sure I’ll never order drunken noodles again.

Best Thai food we’ve had since moving to Maryland from California. The Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice were not as I had expected, which was okay. But the Pad See Ew and the coconut milk soup were very good. Prices are very reasonable and relatively large portions(in Maryland standard). I would have to say that the name«Express» is sort of deceiving as it takes a while to get your food. But it comes out piping hot and fresh. Not much compliant, just that you have to allot a bit extra wait time when you order, even if it’s for to-go.

Tried Thai Express for the first time today. The food wasn’t too bad for the price. I ordered the seafood drunken noodles and it was delicious. The thing that impressed me was that although the dish was spicy, the flavor wasn’t overwhelmed by the heat. That is easy to ruin and the fact that they avoided that mistake is a plus. The shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly. What I disliked was the fact that I had 3 average sized shrimps and 3 squid rings on my plate. For $ 10 I wasn’t expecting much, but I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more for a more proportional serving. Also the miso was a bit too grainy for my liking. The service was a mixed bag. When I placed my orders on the phone the guy that answered was okay. The girl that collected payment wasn’t exactly happy when I asked to split checks. When I asked what credit cards they took she said Visa/MC and as she was lying to me I noticed a sign with every major logo on it… not too thrilled with that. No offense, but I’ve come to expect poor service at Asian restaurants. Something like that happens almost every time I visit one(in fact the only asian place I don’t feel taken for a fool is Peking Palace in Germantown). Does that make it okay? Not really, but whatever, I’m not here to make friends, I just want to stuff my face. I just would hate to see a hardworking family eventually lose their local business because of poor customer service. With that said, I’ll be back to try more of their dishes. I just hope they don’t go out of business with them picking and choosing credit cards to take and all.

We’re generally a bit disappointed by Thai food in our area. There are a couple reasonable places, but nothing great. The Penang curry here, though, made me believe in good Thai food again! I rarely finish a whole dish, but I happily consumed ALL of it, rather quickly. Super tasty and flavorful. The prices are reasonable for the portions(which may be a bit smaller than other places, but are good) The drunken noodles were good, too, but nothing like that Penang curry! Mmmmm, is it too early to go back tomorrow?

Thai Express is a very welcome addition to the Kentlands. Thai Express is pretty tiny, as the name implies, but it is kind of fun to be sitting in what is essentially an open kitchen. We haven’t dined in before, so I can’t speak to the table service. I can say that the kitchen appears to be flawlessly clean and the staff all wear gloves and hair nets. To the food! I’m a big fan of Pad Thai and I search it out most places I travel to. Hands down, this is in the top 5 for the best I’ve had anywhere in the US. The portion size is great for the price and they don’t skimp on the protein. The curry dishes have deep flavor and everything is clearly freshly prepared. Their Thai Iced Tea is also a high point. For $ 2, how can you go wrong?! I particularly like that they make it when you get there so that the ice doesn’t water it down. The lost star comes from the parking situation. On a weekend night it can be just about impossible to get a parking space anywhere near the restaurant. I recommend parking on the street and walking over. We are fans. We have been in multiple times and we will surely be back many more.

While it’s not extremely above average, it’s great food for the price! Tucked away in Kentlands lies this little gem of a place(it’s way behind the strip of the central stores). Thai Express is pretty small in size but has adequate seating and seems to be pretty clean. I can’t quite speak for the service but the host(I believe) was really sweet and polite. As I said before, the food isn’t crazy amazing BUT considering you’re paying ~$ 8 to $ 10 for most entrees and ~$ 3 to $ 7 for appetizers, it’s pretty stinkin’ great. We ordered the calamari, «Thai veggie dumplings», kee mao, pad thai, and thai fried rice. Now when I say the food isn’t super awesome, I don’t mean it lacks flavor. The food’s still really good, but don’t expect to be floored. I’d probably skip the calamari and dumplings next time though. Calamari was too thickly breaded(think tempura-like coating), and the dumplings were a tad bit too oily. Overall though, I was really satisfied considering we had a great amount of yummy food for a even greater price! PS they do deliver, but only two miles out for now.
