Wow! What a disappointment after all the reviews. The food was barely even warm, I could have gotten better food from the freezer section at the grocery store. Go somewhere else if you want a good seafood dinner this is not the place. We have been to this restaurant many times in the years past when we come to Galveston. There must be different owners or cooks.

Great food. Fast service. Value priced. We tried several things to see if they were consistent. We tried fried shrimp, coconut shimp, crab balls, and stuffed shrimp. All were cooked and flavored to perfection. Had 4 entres, 2 drinks, fries, hushpupies, and Cole slaw for under 40.00 including tax. This place is off the beaten path and a must visit when on the island.

Food was great! I had shrimp salad and boudin balls. My husband had fried shrimp. Everything tasted Awesome and very reasonable priced! FYI there is a parking lot in the back and an extra whole room for dining. There is even some covered outside seating.

Went for the first time and ordered coconut shrimp. Delicious and comparable to Gaido’s only at a fraction of the cost. The coleslaw was really good with shrimp in it. Definitely will be back!

I liked the vibe as I walked in, very ‘mom n pop’-kinda feel. Ordering was simple, there is a big board above the register, I went with a shrimp po-boy and my boyfriend got a crawfish po-boy meal and we got an order of 3 boudain balls. It was almost $ 30. We waited about 25 minutes for our pager to buzz and get our food. It was sub par. The boudoir balls were pretty good, but the fries were frozen out-of-bag, and the po-boy bread wasn’t anything special. I will say the crawfish was pretty good and big, but my shrimp wasn’t anything special. 2 stars for flavor of food. 3 stars for service(guys cleaning tables were very on top of their game, kitchen and order takers were a little slow) 4 stars for vibe and set up of the place.

Had a horrible experience at joes crap shack & left there soon after we were seated. Found this place on Unilocal and decided to come check It out. Friendly staff, food and drinks got to us super fast. Once we got the food everything was cooked textbook perfectly. Superb, fresh, great! Prices were very affordable. If I was local this would be a frequent stop for me!

I had fried shrimp, oysters, catfish and crab balls. The shrimp were delicious! I wish I would have tried the coconut and stuffed! I didn’t care for the oysters, but I don’t think I like oysters. I keep trying them and never seem to like them, so I can’t really be trusted as a good judge. Cute and casual atmosphere. Good service. I’ll be back!

We discovered this little out of the way place because of Unilocal and we come here anytime we come to Galveston. The food is really wonderful and they have a lot of variety. Try the coconut shrimp! I’ve paid twice as much for seafood that want as good. If the weather is nice we like to sit outside under the screen coveted area.

The shrimp is comparable to the more expensive restaurants in Galveston, but more relaxed atmosphere and slightly cheaper. Example: the night before, we went to Cajun Greek. The food was good, but our bill was $ 46 for two adults and the kids split a kids meal. At Shrimp N Stuff, we order similar meals, but paid $ 25 and the kids DEVOURED the popcorn shrimp(they ate maybe three bites each at Cajun Greek). Highly recommend this for cheap, easy island food.

I actually think the biggest drawback is expecting too much for a cheaper price. Place– comfortable, nice atmosphere. Parking– nice, you can park along the street. Setting– plenty of table, so far I’ve never experience waiting for a table to become available. Coconut shrimp is a punch here, flavorful and bit spice that push you to indulge more. My fave by far! Oysters are fine, nothing special just a typical atste you get from other restaurant. Cheap. Filling. Satisfying.

It’s not New Orleans. I ordered stuffed shrimp, fried oysters and something called fajita fries. Here’s the breakdown: Stuffed shrimp: soggy Stovetop-like stuffing wrapped around a decent sized but rubbery shrimp. Not my cup of tea. I’m used to butterflied stuffed shrimp with a rice/creole stuffing and a crispy outside. That’s not what you get here. Fried oysters: very disappointing in size, truly tiny. Over cooked. Severely dried out. Breading is very thick cornmeal and overwhelms the tiny oysters. I ordered 12 and didn’t finish them because i felt like I was only eating breading. Fajita fries: what’s with the name? These are just seasoned French fries. There’s nothing«fajita» about them. They taste similar to a frozen bag of seasoned fries you can get from the grocery store. I recently spent two months in New Orleans, a food heaven, so maybe my expectations were too high, but this was a regrettable meal.

Perfect for cheap fried seafood, but AVOIDTHEBACKROOM at this location. This was my first time in Galveston and my first time at S&S. As far as the food goes, this is exactly what I’m looking for in a beach vacation meal. Reasonably priced, perfectly fried, southern-style seafood and fries. Delicious with lemon and cocktail/tartar sauces. Top-notch hush puppies. I had the coconut shrimp dinner and my SO got the fried catfish — both delicious! Things only went south in the back room of this location. Here’s a breakdown: The front room is action packed but not too shabby. There are people ordering, servers/bussers running around, and a few communal tables to share and the smell of the food is great. Then there’s the outside dining are in the middle — this is the prime real estate. It’s really lovely setting, shaded, fresh air, nice wooden tables and metal chairs. There aren’t even birds bothering you for scraps like at most other places. But the back room is disgusting. This is the extra room on the other side of the outdoor seating. It was a dirty, loud, concrete box and it reeked of some sort of bleach or cleaner that was not appetizing at all. There was no ventilation and all of the furniture was old and dirty compared to the other rooms. It was like being in a completely different restaurant. Thankfully, we were able to move to an outdoor table after we got our food and weren’t forced to eat in that stinky box. Once we escaped, everything else was fine. Not a bad restaurant, just a bad section.

Great gumbo and fish tacos! Love the black bean corn salsa that comes with the fish tacos. I also ordered a shrimp po boy. It was ok. The bread was a little on the cool side so it made the bread a little hard. I took the rest home and ate it later and by then it had softened up and the po boy was quite yummy. Very relaxed atmosphere. You order the food at the counter and then they«buzz» you when your food is ready. Looks like a great place for large and small groups. We will come back again. I forgot to mention they have a gluten free menu too.

We evaluated the: $$$ places, steak & seafood($$$) joints, touristy sports(still $$$), low-starred/low count of reviews against what we wanted… Shrimp & Stuff got the greenliight. [Food] Asked straight up what’s the best thing they had. Answer was the po boy combos & gumbos. Ordered: Po boy + catfish+ shrimp+ hush puppies(side) and crab balls from a la carte. I liked it. Very filling. Hush puppies had a kick. Fish/shrimp was not as large as I expected. [Service] Little slow, but it was the hour before closing. [Getting there] If you’re at the beachfront/Historical Pleasure Pier and plan to walk est 1.7 mi to get to S&S…you should probably reconsider. Depending on particular streets, a majority we traveled on lacked walkability. Some side walks were present, then gone, then you’d have to run. The experience was neat in observing the elevation of the sidewalks/what a residential area looks like with storm prep décor. Be safe and just take the car. [Our Plan B] S&S and«The Gumbo Diner» were our top two.

Went to Galveston for a few days and wanted to try the local cuisine. This place popped up as a dive to try and we did. For the appetizer, we ordered the boudin balls and the shrimp kisses. These were divine and the reason for the overall 2 stars. The shrimp kisses are shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuff with cheese. While that sounds typical, the kiss comes in when you bite into it and the melted cheese ever so delicately comes out and completes the experience. Comes on a bed of french fries that were much better than I thought they would be. The Boudin balls were a great balance of flavor and cajun spicing. After our appetizers, I was ready for my seafood combo of oysters, fried shrimp, and catfish. Well, that’s where the party stops. The shrimps were overcooked, the oysters were tasteless and with a thick blah coating… the catfish was ok as the corn meal batter saved it. I was really hopeful for a complete great experience, but was left wanting. Aside from the appetizers, the in-house made ranch was one of the best I’ve had in a local dive. The tartar sauce was meh… couldn’t really determine what the flavor was supposed to be. Bottom line: The food was served quickly, service was good… but the food experience/taste really left me with not wanting to return. unless just for appetizers. Don’t think I’ll be back.

After taking the aquarium tour 2÷28÷2016 at moody Gardens my Wife and I decided to grab a bite to eat before seeing the 3d movie. I hopped on Unilocal and went looking for some place that fit the bill. While other places were rated better they were however closed for the day. We hopped in the ride and headed over to Shrimp and Stuff. I darn near got rear ended by some yahoo in a hurry as I tried to park in the rear of the building. Be careful turning in their because as is the case in most cities these days everyone is in a hurry and a speed limit is just a posted sign. We got parked and went right in without much of a wait. We both ordered the special with catfish and shrimp. After about fifteen minutes the buzzer went off and I picked up our order. Let’s just say it didn’t look as if the grease was fresh which was my first though. Once we began eating it was nearly a confirmation. Additionally I am huge on my food being seasoned but not drowned it so much you can’t enjoy the food. The food was bland and you can tell the«cornmeal» batter for the fish isn’t mixed to well with spices. I mean come on a bag of zataran’s is better than what we dined on that day. The fries were… edible to put it nicely. A $ 30 donation without a drink and that was a lesson learned. Next time I’ll just go fishing off the side of the road and cook my own food. I truly believe we would have come out better.

This is as good as the five-star goodness gets in the Galveston area. The shrimp Po boy that I ordered was absolutely perfect and served with really fresh quality ingredients. The staff is super nice and always helpful making decisions with the menu selections. The best thing is they have outdoor seating and it’s open to sky with the nice bright sun shining over your head while you’re enjoying the chilled beer with a nice sandwich. Don’t let the outdoor appearance fool you, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. This place is far off from the touristy traps and is just what you want to experience in a place like Galveston. Soak in the sun grab a chilled one and Dig in! Cheers!

This place is listed as one of the top places to eat at when visiting Galveston. It’s hidden amongst some houses and other eateries, but it’s a great place when you’re craving some fried food. The line was not too long, but the seats were definitely limited since there were a lot of people already eating. I ordered the shrimp platter. Everything tasted really fresh and crispy. The only drawback was that the shrimp had a very fishy, ocean aftertaste that I could taste even with the Tartar sauce. The portion is quite large, and I definitely could not finish all of the french fries. We also ordered the catfish platter, and the catfish was absolutely huge. I was very surprised to see that the size was so big. We definitely over-ordered, but it was a great place and we really enjoyed the experience. Definitely worth stopping by and trying out their food if you are ever near the area.
