We hired Bill Viands to build a screened in porch on our house this past year, while also were having other jobs done by other contractors. Bill and company did a great job. If I had met Bill before I had hired the other contractor who did the larger job for us, I would have definitely hired them to do the larger project as well, as I found them much easier to work with than the other contractor — they listened more to what we were looking for and showed much more care for the details. He and his team are trustworthy, thorough, knowledgeable, have great attention to detail. The work was excellent and the prices fair. We ended up having Mike, who works for Bill, do additional work for us and he did an excellent job on that as well. They were able to give us good advice about the work, left the worksite clean and were easy to have around. We were very happy with the work and would definitely hire them again.

If you are looking for a General Contractor than avoid Viands Construction. If I had to sum up working with Viands Constructtion, it would simply be that Bill provides a lot of promises and NEVER delivers on those promises. He charges an extraordinary amount of money and delivers ordinary quality and he certainly does not honor warranties. Here are a few examples of what I experienced: 1. Bill Viands hired his brother at a premium price to work on my project. I came to the job 26 times(random times) while Bill’s brother was supposedly working and he was sitting in his car all 26 times. He had a pile of books in his cars with him. 2. Bill provided no change orders and made expensive substitutions without providing any guidance on cost impact. Rather he told us that we would be able to keep it within budget. In addition to not providing us change orders he did not require his subs to provide them until the work was done. At the end of the project, he surprised us with a bill for $ 165,000. 3. Bill failed to pay some subs for almost a year. Even his sub contractors don’t like working with him. Metropolitan Fire and Tristate say they will never work with the company again because they view him as not professional. You will hear every excuse possible. Before anyone has the opportunity to work with Bill, I would be happy to provide additional details of my experience so you don’t make the same mistake I did.
