One of the best places I’ve ordered from. They are always accurate with what we order, neatly organized with a lot of food. Definitely our go to when ordering since we received their grand opening flier. We’ve ordered all the Hibachi lunch items & not a big sushi lover, but I love their cucumber & avocado rolls. Great food & always reliable.

Good portion of lunch special. Sushi was pretty fresh. Took 10 mins to get my order ready. But the check in 15% only applies when you order over $ 35. Beware of that

As previously stated in a few other reviews, the outside is very deceiving. It’s located in sort of a weird place but it’s a hidden gem. The restaurant was very cute and nicely set up. Prices were affordable and the potion size was reasonable as well. Most importantly, the sushi was FRESH!!! Staff was nothing special but there were no complaints. After checking in, we received a 15% off our bill which was fabulous. This will be one of my new fav sushi spots. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Placed my first ever seamless order with them and had a great experience. Food arrived in less than 30 minutes and was neatly organized with all order notes taken care of(sauce on side/extra menus). The seared pepper tuna tataki was delicious as were the vegetable gyoza. Reasonably priced and great service

Fairly good sushi in Mineola :) came here for lunch with Garrett. Very empty on a Friday afternoon. Also very clean :) Service was great. I had the 3 rolls lunch special for $ 12. It included great miso soup and a good, fresh salad. I had the salmon avocado roll, spicy salmon and chicken tempura. The salmon avocado was ok. Quality could’ve been a little better but still very good. The spicy salmon was my favorite! Little crunchies and not overwhelming spiciness! The chicken tempura would’ve been great if not for the lettuce mixed in. Really ruined the taste. Garrett had a sashimi platter for $ 15. It was delicious and really good quality. Very good! Also came with miso soup and salad. Rice was optional. Served with nice vegetable embellishment. Really nice lunch treat :) maybe we’ll come again soon!

Disclaimer: This is for a visit back in early 2014. I’m behind on my posts, I know! I was visiting my folks in Long Island when my sister and I decided to go out for sushi after running some errands. We stumbled upon Otaki Sushi’s grand opening in the New Hyde /Garden City Park area. Upon noticing that there was also a 15% off discount with a Unilocal check-in, I was sold! The space inside is sleek and modern. There are seats available at the sushi bar as well as several tables throughout the restaurant. Miso Soup My sister and I ordered the sushi for 2, which came with miso soup. I appreciated that it wasn’t overly salty, with a nice essence of seaweed and plenty of diced tofu. House Salad The house salad was fairly standard, but still featured a nice mix of grape tomatoes, red cabbage, carrots, and field greens with that oh-so-familiar ginger dressing. Ika Special The ika special featured lightly charred and wonderfully tender squid, wrapped around freshly julienned cucumber slices. Topped with masago, the squid was dressed with some ponzu and a light mayo sauce, This was incredibly delicate and delicious. Spicy Lobster Carpaccio [$ 12] I was somewhat disappointed there was no uni available, especially on a Saturday. However, our server Anna highly recommended the lobster carpaccio and I’m glad she did! While it wasn’t at all spicy as advertised and the tuna actually played the part of the carpaccio in this dish, the briny essence of the caviar melded well with the sweet lobster salad inside the tuna. The crispy shallots provided some savory textural notes I enjoyed as well. Sweet Potato Roll [$ 4] Who can say no to a good sweet potato roll. Creamy within, with a wonderfully light tempura crunch on the outside, it’s a favorite of mine. Sushi for 2 [$ 48] 20 pieces sushi, 2 special rolls The sushi for 2 featured unctuous unagi with a sweet kabayaki sauce, along with plenty of tuna, yellowtail, striped bass, white tuna, and fluke nigiri. You can’t select the two specialty rolls, but I appreciated the passion roll, which featured tuna wrapped with an abundance of avocado. We were also provided with a Tokyo wrap roll, which highlighted spicy crab and sweet mango to create an interesting bite. I believe avocado and jalapeño was also advertised, but wasn’t apparent. Overall, I appreciated that the texture of the rice was tangible and there was a sweet, vinegary essence to it. All of the fish was quite fresh, with the striped bass having especially good snap Deep Fried Oreos The kitchen sent out some complimentary deep fried oreos. Doesn’t exactly creamy sushi, but regardless, the light and crispy tempura batter made this some of the best deep fried oreos I’ve had. Gluttonous and richly creamy within, this was a sweetly American, yet enjoyable end to our meal. So if you’re in the New Hyde /Garden City Park area, I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending stopping by Otaki Sushi if you’re in the mood for some fresh sushi. I would highly recommend venturing outside the standard sushi sets and trying their creative specials as well.

Super quick service after placing my order online. Will definitely be back here again! $ 5 sushi rolls? Not bad at all! Fresh, flavorful and pretty! Our favorites are the denton, shrimp tempura and kani salad. Also had the philly roll and spicy girl naruto style.

I am currently eating a Beef Teriyaki lunch bento box with a spicy crab roll(instead of a California roll, only $ 1 extra) And it is absolutely delicious! The beef is a nice cut of steak, and it’s laying on a bed of fresh sliced veggies(zucchini, onions and carrots) along side a nice little slice of corn on the cob and a piece of broccoli The spicy crab roll is really fresh and yummy and the rolls are nice and meaty(they definitely do not skimp!) The shumai in the box is crispy but not too crispy, just right I hate when you get shumai that seems like it just came out of the microwave Before the box came out, I was served a fresh mixed greens salad with delicious ginger dressing and a grape tomato Along with a miso soup If I have to say one negative thing about this place it would have to be that the miso soup was a tad bland, could’ve used some more flavor but I won’t knock off a star just for that It wasn’t that bad I love trying new places and I look forward to coming back Oh and the décor is very nice and comfy if that helps Central A/C is perfect, not too hot, not too cold Dine in and enjoy! 15% off orders of $ 35 or more as well!

Came with my 2 year old – quick lunch-ordered sushi sashimi combo – really fresh. This is my second time here – last time I ordered the party tray for 20 people and they were good and fresh as well.

The outside is very deceiving. The inside is nicely renovated, but small. Probably all of 8 tables inside but nicely spaced out, and a sushi bar. Food was fresh and delicious. Prices very reasonable. Nice variety of desserts and special rolls. Staff was okay. I got the spicy tuna roll which was good, and the dynamite roll. One piece had a cooked white fish on top and the texture just didn’t go well with the rest of the roll which was raw. That is my only complaint.

We came here very late the other night and I was pleasantly surprised by everything. The service was excellent and so was the food. I had the Fire Roll, which was not as deep fried as I expected, and I had the Pizza Sandwich with spicy salmon which was amazing! For dessert I had the Copa Café — I could eat like 10 of these. T ordered the raw oysters and a couple of pieces which she was pleasantly surprised by. D ordered a few rolls… forgot which one and she loved them. It’s not that they don’t deserve five stars, but I usually go to a few places a few times to make sure they are consistent before a reward higher. I will be sure to go there in the future.

I was an Otaki enthusiast until today. I order lunch here every week and dine-in frequently. Today I came home to find that my tofu teriyaki came without teriyaki sauce, and the employee seemed very inconvenienced. One hour and 20 minutes(and 4 phone calls) later, I’m still sitting here with cold tofu. This surly employee has totally turned me off. I don’t think I’ll be ordering Otaki again any time soon. It’s a shame as the chefs are outstanding and I love their food. Perhaps she’s the same one who forgot to seal the lid on the sauces on numerous occasions in the past. If you’re ordering Otaki, I recommend eating it there. Two thumbs down for takeout.

The food is amazing! I ordered the shrimp hibachi and it was on point. The calamari is also delicious with a spicy duck sauce :) this place is a great choice for sushi, hibachi and teriyaki dishes! The restaurant is also very cozy and staff is friendly!

Brought my extended family here for New Year’s day. There were 11 of us, no 10 of us, no — 11 again. Didn’t trip them up at all! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinner. The pizza sandwich is a must! Their special rolls are also fantastic. My favorite(this month) is the Rock Shrimp Roll. The service was also fantastic. We were never rushed, even after realizing we’ve overstayed our welcome due to their small size. From the moment we sat down until we left, anything we asked for was brought quickly and with a smile.

Otaki was a great choice for lunch today. Had a nice lunch with my husband and it hit the spot. We got a good deal with their lunch specials. I ordered a salmon Lunch bento box and my husband ordered the two roll lunch special. The Bento box was very filling. Loved the fried shumai and the corn on the cob which was included. The orange dressing on the salad tasted really good and the tofu soup was very fresh tasting. I think I will bring my friend here next time. The only thing that I didn’t like was the taste of the ikura sushi that I ordered. It tasted off to me. It had ikura juice at the bottom of the rice which gave it a gooey consistency. Other than that the place is really clean and nicely decorated.

Only tried the sushi and the fish was a-okay. Relatively thin slices of fish on top of the rolls. Tuna in spicy tuna rolls were ground up to be a bit mushy. The ginger that was brought out to us the second time was awful — opposite of crisp and crunchy. We got 4 rolls(3 specialty and 1 regular) and one order of king salmon sashimi and the bill came out to $ 50 including tax and tip after using Unilocal’s 15% off deal. Not bad. We were also served a complimentary appetizer(meh) and hot green tea(yum). I’d return for the price, not so much taste.
