Crepes!!! I’m a fan of this place, growing up near there, I actually went when they were just opened, and very tiny. This place is now much bigger, with a lot more options on their menu. Very sad that they closed.

We had an average experience here. The staff was very friendly and seated us right away. However, it was difficult to get their attention afterwards. We ordered two 5 item crepes which included nutella spread, banana, mango, chocolate chips and other goodies. The crêpe itself was very dry. Authentic crêpe is supposed to be a little bit doughy but I guess they wouldn’t be able to use it as an «ice cream cone» anymore like they do it here. The items we chose to fill our crepes with tasted just about average except for the Nutella which was delicious as usual. The price of $ 7 for a crêpe with 5 item seems fair to me but I would really love it if they didn’t cook them so long. I will go again if I happen to be in the neighborhood.

I use to love coming here when they were at the smaller shop 3 doors down. Now that they’re at a larger location there are many problems. Service: service here is slow. I ordered a simple Nutella, strawberry, and kiwi crêpe. It took 20 minutes for me to get my crêpe. If they were busy I would understand but they had 2 tables occupied. They’re over staffed but understaffed if that makes sense. One or two servers while the others are in the back doing who knows what. Menu: the old store’s menu made sense. Short and sweet. The new store’s menu is confusing and busy. Granted their crepes are delicious. They just take a long time. They should have kept the old store. Why fix something that’s not broken.

Came here on Sunday but finally getting a chance to update my review. So here it is! Too bad Unilocal doesn’t do half star ratings because honestly I feel like they really are trying. I was greeted and helped right away, they asked for my name. They took my order and most importantly. My cup was filled to the top! But honestly. The taste of their drink is starting to lack & the wait time to get my order just took waaaay too long! So basically the Half star is for the effort, but not quit there. So couldn’t give you guys 3 stars! Sorry! Anyhow came in to get the usual. My almond milk tea and was craving something sweet so decided to get a crêpe. The crêpe was good! Nothing to complain about there. But the drink… That’s a diff. story, maybe they read my review before because I do notice my cups are always to the top now.(Thank you! Love that!) but the taste isn’t the same. Also the drink comes out a lot darker than usual. Trust me, I drink it enough. I WILLKNOW. If there any changes or not. It used to be so much better. I don’t even bother getting two cups anymore because it’s loosing the taste that they had before and I end up not drinking much and giving it all to my bf. THATS A PROBLEMGUYS!(We never share!) Did they change their recipe? Almost seems like it. please go back to the old way?! You guys were my fave! Also, about their wait time. I feel like this really is something they need to work on. I literally waited 20 mins for my crêpe. I ordered a «build your own crêpe» w. Nutella, custard, strawberries, green tea ice cream and whip cream. I don’t understand why it took so long for the crêpe! We got our drinks almost right after we ordered…(Maybe this is why it doesn’t taste as good) but we had to wait another 20 mins just for our crêpe. We only had one group ahead of us but they only ordered 2 crepes and they too were waiting a long time as well. Idk about other people but when I order Togo… It’s because I don’t have time to sit down and eat there. And the worst part is. The guy who took my order(could have been the manager) went to the back after he finished with me. & didn’t come back for awhile. And when he came back he saw me sitting there still and he looked surprised that I was still there and luckily then, was when my crêpe came out. If he noticed it’s long. It’s cause ITIS! I noticed people eating there also waited forever to get their food and they did not look happy. So yet again. 2.5 stars. Better luck next time?

Crepes are the japanese style crêpe– crispy and thin. Not the french style in thicker batter. In which, I like it the balance with all the filling you put inside. I had the nutella, banana, strawberry, mochi ball and ice cream crêpe. Its pretty good. Never go wrong with nutella crêpe with fruit. Also, they have this happy hour meni for $ 3.50 takoyaki. Good deal. Its a place close by with decent crêpe and snack. But nothing extraordinary. Have to say love their little vintage suitcase chair. Gonna make one for myself too! Such a great little interior touch. Comfortable seating without feeling overly crowded in beyween table. Nice staff.

This review is based on what we got: Popcorn Chicken, Fake Poutine Fries and 2 Green milk tea. With that order with spent over $ 20. Chicken was great. Crispy and fatty. Sauce was good but portion was small. Overall they did well. Now the fries. It was a disgrace. How can you use shredded cheese from a bag and canned gravy on fries and called it Poutine. That being said they were not bad just not good either. Just there. The green milk tea was a little on sweet size. Boba was bad don’t add it. Also waitresses are not very useful. I had tea and not water this time so no comment.

There is a Genki’s in San Francisco that doesn’t compare to this one. A large group of my cousins and I came here just to hang out and we ordered various crepes. We couldn’t get enough! The interior was cute too! Let’s just keep it simple and say we had a very difficult time leaving the place… haha

Haven’t been here since they made the place bigger. Walk in on a Thursday night and was asked if we wanted to dine in or get it to go. The place was about half full so we were seated right away and given our menu. The last time I’ve been here I had the Club Crêpe, but this time I went for a dessert crêpe! What we got: Octopus Takoyaki($ 5.50): it came with 5 pieces, but it didn’t have a lot of bonito flakes! But even without it… I thought it was pretty tasty. Be careful to not just pop it into your mouth! It had pieces of octopus in it and I could taste it! I’d get this again when I come back… Popcorn Chicken($ 4): it comes with a side of sweet & sour sauce. The chicken was crunchy and crispy, but the pieces were way too small in my opinion. If the pieces were just a little bit bigger, then it would have been perfect! We asked for it to be mild, but it was more like medium. Not a problem to me, but my friend can’t handle spicy food that well… so too bad! That just means more for me… Condensed Milk, Strawberry, Mochi, Green Tea Ice Cream Crêpe($ 8): condensed milk made the whole crêpe sticky and it started to drip everywhere when I tried to finish it up in my car. The strawberry pieces were sweet so yay! Mochi soft and chewy and it wasn’t getting hard from the ice cream. They gave me a lot of green tea ice cream too! A lot more than I expected, which is no problem to me either! Service: The lady that seated us was nice. Since I haven’t been back in sooo long, I took awhile to decide what I wanted, but she didn’t rush us to make our order. She was kind enough to ask me if I wanted a plate to put my crêpe on since I was just holding it as I was eating the other food. So overall… yay! I’m a fan! I’ll be back to try the okonomiyaki next…

One of my co-workers invited me here for happy hour for her birthday. I had never been here before so I didn’t really know what to expect from it. Located in a shopping center on the corner of Brookhurst and Garden Grove, the store is actually quite roomy. There’s lots of tables to sit at and they offer larger picnic style tables too if you’re with a big group. They have a pretty big menu with lots of things to choose from, ranging from appetizers, sandwich type crepes, to desserts, and even alcohol. I was in the mood for crepes, so I got one with green tea ice cream, grass jelly, and pineapple with caramel and whipped cream on it. I definitely liked what I got, but I didn’t realize I could have added bacon too! I’m going to have to add that next time. Service was good. The server was always coming by to check on us and see if we needed anything else. I would come back again just to try something else because everything sounded interesting and the prices aren’t bad at all, but the crowd that comes here would sort of deter me from coming back often.

Fan of the product. Stopped here after an Angels game and picked the crêpe w/strawberries. Let me tell ya, its certainly a great dessert item. My taste buds were«like whoa». I would certainly return and order the entrée items next time because they look real good. Cashier’s CS skills were meh. She looked good but just your typical SoCal attitude.

Went back here for the first time in years and realized why I don’t go here often… The service was incredibly slow on a Sunday night! There weren’t even that many customers so I don’t understand why it took so long for our crepes to come out. The waiter seemed like a nice guy but that didn’t make up for the fact that it took over 20 minutes for 4 crepes and 1 drink to come out. Maybe they should think about hiring more workers! The crepes themselves are decent but they can get pretty pricy if you decide to get«premium» items, like strawberries, nutella, and green tea ice cream like I did.

Edited my rating to two stars… some of my concerns were addressed by the owner which is always appreciated. I definitely should have mentioned what I saw that night. I hope that if I ever do venture back here, I don’t see a single roach. – This place always has customers when I drive by but I won’t be back for sure. STRIKE1: I got here at 10pm(about an hour before they close) and it took a good while before anyone took our order(for the takeout area). The service was a bit all over the place(different workers were giving us different instructions on where to sit). STRIKE2: The drinks were decent(mango strawberry slush is better than strawberry slush) but they did mess up my friends order… she didn’t want any whipped cream so we had to send it back. Then we had to wait a long while before they brought out the fixed one. STRIKE3: Cockroach, enough said

Where am I? Animated Cupcakes? The signs at this place are so confusing. There are two different names on either side of the building. One says«Genki Living» and the other one says«Genki Restaurant and Bakery.» If that wasn’t confusing enough, there’s a sign on the wall when you walk in that says«Animated Cupcakes.» What the? So I heard this place recently remodeled and expanded. I have no idea how it was before because it was my first time. They have a display case filled with cupcakes, so I guess they made the place into a cupcake shop as well. My boyfriend took me here because I was craving crepes and LOVE the crepes at the Genki Living in Rowland Heights, but this wasn’t the same. How disappointing. I already had my heart set on the strawberry banana with nutella crêpe until I saw how ridiculous the prices were. For the price of one item, I could have everything I wanted for the same price at the other location. Even nutella counted as an item… No thanks. With everything it would have came out to be more than $ 7 – 8. Since we were there already, we decided on sharing the Taiyaki Club. It came with three pieces and were basically fish-shaped pastries with filling. There were around six flavors to choose from, so we went with sweet custard, taro, and red bean. It was just alright. Sweet custard was our favorite. We also ordered a couple drinks to-go, since we needed a $ 10 minimum to use a card. I opted for almond milk tea while my boyfriend got the matcha float. Both were mediocre at best. Sorry to say I won’t be coming back. I’ll just stick with the Genki Living I know and love in Rowland.

Pros Popcorn chicken — probably the best I’ve tasted. Comes with side of sweet chili sauce. Cons Large Jasmine Milk tea — way over sweetened, had to ask for dilution and apparently they put too much sugar Service — absolutely horrible. The waitress made no attempt to smile, even after she messed up our tea. No apologies whatsoever and made it seem like we were picky about our tea instead of them messing up. Popcorn chicken — gave one skewer when we obviously had two people Price — way overpriced for the portion sizes

I came in here with my sister. She always wanted to try this place, but for some reason every time we went they were never open. So we finally made it into this Genki. The décor was pretty busy, there was a lot going on. one side feels like a travel sections. There were suitcases everywhere. The seats were like an opened suitcase with cushions. One of the speaker was a suitcase. Weird… The other side of the restaurant had the tvs and the walls was painted. But anyways when we entered one of the workers greeted us at the door and asked if we were dining in or to go. We said to go and she handed us a menu. anyways We got a Egg salad sandwich crepes, An ice cream one for the kids, and a fruity one for the sis. They were ok. the texture of the Crepes was between a waffle cone and a normal crepes. It has a slight crunch to it.

After reading some of the reviews and my friend’s huge craving for a crêpe, we decided to give this place a try. Saturday night. 10pm. Kind of rainy so it isn’t super busy. We were seated within 5 minutes. Lots of parking this plaza so no problem. I ordered an oolong milk tea with tapioca while my friend got a nutella crêpe with. I wanna say chocolate ice cream? The milk tea was pretty good. A little too sweet for me but I forgot to ask for less sweet. The boba was good. They make their crepes more crispy than soft. My friend is a bigger fan of soft crepes but she said that the quality of the crispy crêpe was actually pretty decent. Their prices are bit expensive… Her crêpe was about 6 bucks? My milk tea was cheap but because with each crêpe order, a boba drink is only an extra $ 1. That was super nice of the waitress to do that.(: Some people charge orders as separate so I would’ve paid around 3 – 4 bucks. The décor is cute. Japanese animé/manga drawings. Lots of large flatscreen TVs. They also serve alcoholic beverages, cupcakes, waffles, etc. Happy Hour too.

Came here on a Sunday night since I’ve been craving a good crêpe for awhile. It was pretty empty inside, got seat and started deciding on what we wanted to order. Interior is nice, there’s a random snowboard bench, which I thought was cool but out of place. There’s also a huge mural painted on one of the walls and some mini polaroids clipped up on some string that’s hanging from the ceiling, a nice touch. As I was looking through the menu, I noticed almost all the items I wanted in my crêpe had an asterisk which meant that there was an extra charge, so I figured I might as well get the 5 item crêpe to avoid the extra charge. Wanted to get mochi balls, but they were out, wanted to try out the oreo cupcake, they were also out. The server was nice enough to give us suggestions though. Ended up ordering a crêpe with nutella, strawberries, kiwi, lychee jelly and green tea ice cream. My boyfriend got the Taiyaki with ham and cheese. My crêpe didn’t take too long to come out. The crêpe itself was a bit too crispy for me and got too soft towards the end, other than that, the combination of all the fruits, nutella and ice cream was delicious. I really liked their green tea ice cream! The only problem was, I was almost done eating my crêpe before the server came to see if my boyfriend’s taiyaki came and we said it didn’t so she went to check on it for us. When they finally brought it to us, my boyfriend wasn’t very happy with it, there was only a small slice of ham inside. Overall, I would probably come back for the crêpe but they actually do have a lot of things on their menu that looks interesting, maybe I’ll try something else beside the crepes next time too!~

I like crepes that are kind of crispy but man the crêpe pancake I had here was too thin, hard and crispy. It tasted like eating strawberrys, bananas, ice cream, and whip cream with crispy flakes sprinkled on top instead of a crêpe pancake wrapped around it. Crunch, crunch, crunch. Everything else inside was just ok. Fruit didn’t seem that fresh but it was still alright. I’ve heard a lot about this place from my OC friends so I thought it was going to be super new and trendy but it was actually really small, dilapidated, and empty. The only other group of people here were some 30 year olds that just came back from Avec. The workers were really nice and patient with us, so no complaints about service here. The crepes here aren’t that bad, I just didn’t enjoy eating them all that much. I probably won’t make an effort to come back but I wouldn’t mind if I was dragged along.

Ice cream crepes I came in yesterday with 2 other girls to share some ice cream crepes. Not surprise, the place went to shit. By looking at my last review I expect it. The ice cream crepes were good but there was no one there. All the other business next door were also looking like they were not doing well. This place was such a fad. Your time is over genki living. If you wanna survive your gonna have to do something. Oh and those Animated Cupcakes(Ana’s cupcakes), I cant believe they advertise that shit. They look like a child made them and has been siting out for days. Two stars for the decent crepes. Everything else, eh.
