Korean soul food at its finest! A must go to spot on a cold day like today. All ill say is, my woman loves me more for finding this place.

KOREANSTEAMEDPORKPLATE! **2016 Unilocal 100CA Challenge #11** This place is in the same plaza as the bakery & hair salon that my mom used to go to like every month for 15 years… definitely brings back memories to come into this plaza. We came to have a family dinner before my mommy was leaving for Korea & w/the cold weather we were craving some WARM spicy SOUP! I was also craving some SOONDAE(Korean pork blood sausage) but my favorite joint was closed on Sundays. SERVICE was ridiculously slow… there weren’t very many people & there were 4 servers… the lady was a bit rude which typically I would let it pass… but when the waitress is rude to my parents… that’s a different story! Took about 20 minutes for them to take our order… when our soups came out, it took another 15 minutes to get rice… which also resulted in our soups getting COLD. GAMJAHTANG $ 12.96 — pork backbone spicy soup w/potatoes… this soup had so much freaken MEAT it was amazing… but only one piece of potato. But most people would LOVE how much meat is in here. The flavors were good too! SOONDAEPLATE $ 16.67 — honestly these prices are so FUNNY& random to me… but there must be some reason behind it… the soondae was not very good… it was VERYVERY peppery & the pieces we’re not sliced thoroughly so everything was falling out of it when we tried to pull it apart! This plate also comes w/assortment of pork liver & stomach. BOSAAMPLATE $ 25.00 — this was the BEST dish out of EVERYTHING! The bo saam is basically steamed pork that you wrap w/steamed cabbage & add jalapeño, garlic, spicy faddish, & shrimp sauce into the cabbage. The pork was so TENDER& warm but they definitely could have cut up the cabbage a little more into pieces or thinner strips. Food is 4 stars but the service brang it down… but definitely will be back for BOSAAMPLATE!

I have came here several times. I’ve tried a bunch of different things and they have always been extremely satisfying. I’ve had the ox-bone soup with clear noodles, ox-tail soup, dumpling & rice cake soup, and the #5 which is a spicy beef and veggie soup(similar to yukaejjang, but called something else). SO good. noms. I’ve been so sick the past couple of days with an upper respiratory infection and all I want are soups and they are so good about getting phone orders done quickly. I love that. I have yet to arrive disappointed by lack plasticware/chopsticks, spilled condiments or soups, or even getting the order messed up. They are always on point! All the employees are always cheerful and sweet.

Pork bone stew: hands down ! Love it. Meat fell off the bones, broth is perfect and flavorful. All of their side dishes like kimchi, and another two radishes plate are tasty which I can just eat them with rice.

Good old fashioned Korean food the way it should be done. Recently been on a quest for gamja tang and this place is near a buddy’s office and also recommended by people I trust with food. Great choice for gamja tang. Although I didn’t have any of the gori gom tang — ox tail soup, it looked delicious. The side dish banchan kimchi were also good. Reasonable prices I guess. Not cheap. Definitely worthwhile.

I had Sun Dae Bok Eum and Gam Ja Tang last weekend for the first time and I love it! They give you a lot and was very delicious! I am going back again this weekend with my family. The restaurant is pretty clean and good size. I would recommend this place to my friends too.

I dined here a month ago and the price was increased which I asked the waitress about and she lied and said it was always like that. That wasn’t true because I always came here and I remember the price vividly. If the waitress just said that there was a price increase and wasnt so dishonest and shady about it, I would come here again.

My favorite place for gamjatang! It’s just so good here and so full of flavor. I’ve dined in and also taken out. The food and service were great for both! The best thing about this place is that the servers understand English(for the most part) or will grab someone who does to help you. Every time that I’ve said«No onions,» there really weren’t any onions in my food! Awesome!

I really the pork bone soup with potato, I used to like tofu with prok belly on hot plate but last time I went the price went up like incredible and pork was so tough to chew. I still like their side dishes tho. And the rice is so soft… love it.

Dined here several times already and consider myself a regular diner. Service is friendly and attentive. All the dishes offered are authentic Korean dishes and I have yet to order anything I didn’t like.

Soondae, rib bone soup, meat platter, dumplings. All delicious in their own characteristics, all served promptly after being seated. I almost wished that asian restaurants would learn to space out their service so food doesn’t sit and get cold, but I loved being able to try everything at once. More elbow room, please.

There’s some really good Korean food here that you can’t find easily, particularly in Vegas. Soondae, or Korean Pork Blood Sausage, is definitely an acquired taste. I don’t particularly like it, but I definitely enjoyed their Gamjatang, which is essentially a spicy pork neck soup that you eat with rice. The meat off the pork neck bones was incredibly tender and flavorful. I also got to try a little dukmandu gook which is a rice and dumpling soup. The soup is rather bland and needs a little more depth to its flavor. I can tell that their specialty is their Gamjatang and Galbitang though. Mixing it with the rice was my in my comfort food zone.

This is definitely not a KBBQ joint. So don’t come here expecting it to be one! This is a place that serves many different types of soups. I was originally searching for a place that served good sullungtang and came across Jong Ro Shul Lung Tang. however, after reading Frank S.‘s review on their gamjatang, I decided against on trying their sullungtang. Instead, I went with their gamjatang. It was my FIRST time trying gamjatang. I know. Shame on me. Gamjatang is is a pork neck soup — a bit spicy with huge chucks of pork bone in it. Each bone had tender meat attached to it. It was overwhelmingly delicious. The gamjatang alone is worth the trip. It was also big enough to feed 2. maybe even 3 depending on how hungry you are. At $ 13, it’s a steal. We also got a plate of their soondae, which is blood sausage. It’s filled with noodles rather than meat. I’ve been craving soondae for a while and there are no good places in Vegas for it. The last time I had it, it was at the food court of a super market. Now, I have no idea how authentic soondae is supposed to taste but I liked what I tried in Vegas so I had to try it again here. The soondae was a bit on the mushy side but it had TONS of flavor to it even without having to dip it in salt. The blood in it, however, was a bit on the strong side so there is a bit of a weird aftertaste if you are not used to it. The plate also came with some bossam(pork belly slices) along with some liver, tongue, stomach, etc — it was delicious. Those pork belly slices were amazingly yummy! One of my friends got their galbi tang and unfortunately I wasn’t able to try it. My sister and brother, on the other hand, got the dukmandu gook, which is the rice cake and dumpling soup. I got to try a little bit of that! It was bland. It could be because I had tasted the gamjatang first but my brother had to put salt, pepper, and even msg into it so it’s not just me! Overall, I was stuffed and even had left overs to bring back. I would definitely come back for the gamjatang any time. ANYTIME!

The Gam Ja Tang Pork Bone stew was like a korean party in my mouth. The spicy soup was so gooood. My mom always made pork bone soup when i was young so this was nice. The portions were generous, the meat was tender, the rice was moist, and the kim chi was great. Definitely try the Gam Ja Tang if you like bone in meat.

Came here for the first time. Ordered bossam and pork rib bone soup. Everything is so good. Banchan, especially their kimchi, is excellent. Our order were extravagantly large to two people. Bossam was like $ 25(enough for 2). I don’t recall the price for the soup. Overall, staffs are friendly, food is excellent. It has become my favorite to go spot

Even though I gave them just 3 stars after trying their sullungtang(ox-bone soup) a while back, I was truly surprised at how delicious their food was when I came back to try their other dishes. Despite their business name, sullungtang is not their best dish. Far from it! IMO, their gamjatang is the best I’ve had in OC. Way better than nearby Gamjatang House(formely Gae Sung) if you ask me. You can order the hot pot version of the gamjatang to share or the individual portion. The small hot pot feeds about 2 – 3 people. Even though they don’t do fried rice at the end like most gamjatang places, it’s still a superior gamjatang to anywhere else in OC. Their soondae plate is also pretty bomb, it comes with a few cuts of the bossam(in addition to liver, tongue, stomach) which was a pleasant surprise. I’ve also tried their soondae gook(blood sausage soup), which was also pretty good with loads of internal organs. I also enjoyed their galbi tang and prefer it over Han Yang’s which is over-seasoned with salt. To me, this place is in my top 3 for best Korean restaurants in the OC. Probably the best in Garden Grove. So despite their business name, ignore their sullungtang and give their gamjatang, galbi tang, or soondae gook a try!

What a solid spot for Korean soup! They have everything from oxtail soup, to gamjatang(pork & potato stew) and the galbitang too! I had the Galbitang which is a beef rib soup with scallions, and clear noodles. The soup is very clean and clear with the right flavors. I want to come back and try their gamjatang.

This newcomer to Korean soup houses specializes in Seolleongtang — or spelled shul lung tang like its restaurant name — a rich milky white oxbone with beef brisket soup that you season to taste with salt, pepper and chopped scallions or green onions. Unfortunately, competition is very steep around the area. I like this restaurant because of its variety of soups. Their menu is a bit more varied like a Korean diner. Other popular options to Seolleongtang, $ 8.00, include Gamjatang(pork neck bone and potato stew), $ 12.99, Tteok mandu guk(dumpling and rice cake soup), $ 9.00, Soondae(blood sausage), $ 16.67, Samgyetang(chicken and ginseng soup), $ 15.00, a number of tasty pan fried dishes, steamed pork platters and other staple comfort foods. Its signature dish, however, falls short compared to the seolleongtang prepared by some of its neighboring competitors and more established predecessors. The soup broth is slightly darker and has a more pungent smell.(My thoughts: perhaps less time is devoted to skimming the fat and impurities of the beef brisket and bone marrow during the lengthy brewing process.)

Lover of all soups.sometimes. Haha! Tried their galbi tang, dumpling plate and oxtail soup. I had mistaken their galbi tang for their oxtail soup, so that’s how I tried the oxtail soup! I did not like their oxtail soup at all! It was too game-y for me! Dumpling plate was soo delicious and very flavorful! I’ve never had any dumplings other than Chinese ones, so I was pretty stoked! The skin is much thicker than Chinese dumplings, but it’s their filling that I love so much! Their filling consists of meat, veggies and glass noodles and has a good ratio of all three. Unlike Chinese dumplings, there’s more meat than veggie, so I get sick of eating the same thing after awhile, but they are still bomb! Love their galbi tang! It’s a really simple and clean soup! Literally the soup has beef rib, glass noodles, green onions and other garnishes like dates! The broth was yummy but it could use a tiny bit more flavor! If you have it with kimchi and the seaweed side dishes, that’s all the extra flavas you need! You’re suppose to dip the beef ribs in this mustard sauce which would have probably been so tasty if I loved mustard! The beef ribs were extremely tender and yes, it gets stuck in your teeth! But totally worth flossing afterwards and a great incentive to floss! :) Service was great and friendly! They were pretty attentive! Lower your expectations for service and you’ll be much happier! As long as they give you your food, all good in the hood! Enjoy! :)
