My husband and I got their shabu. it was delicious. The Veggies were very fresh and the meat tasted great. I got a side of clams that were very fresh too. The kimchi broth was on point. I highly recommend this place. Service was fantastic.

Wow, the food and service has really gone down hill. Garlic noodles was sweet? The recipes are really off… bummer.

Tra has introduced me to how good crispy garlic rice is and now I’m obsessed! I came here on two separate occasions, the first time with some friends who have been here before and the second time by myself. The first time I ordered the fillet minion that came with crispy garlic rice, a salad, and a small side soup but ordered the pork spring rolls as an appetizer. The spring rolls were good but I don’t know if it’s considered a bad thing that the dipping sauce was a little better than the actual roll. The fillet minion was tender and honestly any meat made with sautéed onions, I’m all in! The second time I ordered the spicy thai hotpot which was delicious but the only thing I regret is ordering rice instead of noodles. Overall the service was good, food was tasty, iced coffee was strong, and the closing time was convenient for a late night meal.

Honestly, this place has gone down in quality so much. The last two times I went here, my experience was bad. I waited over 20 minutes for my drink when there were workers just standing around eating behind the counter. Needless to say, I was upset. And the other time I came here, the service was bad. I don’t know if it was a bad day or something, but the cashier was not friendly at all. He kind of just looked like he wanted to get out of there while I ordered. That day I ordered a mango tea and didn’t poke my straw in my drink until I came home. BADDECISION. I ended up with a pineapple tea that was gross. I was already home so I didn’t bother driving back and threw the drink away. I am so sad because I was really hyped about this place when it first opened, but I will not come back here.

Came here 2 times. The first time was for food in the restaurant and the second time was for drinks on the other side. While the servers were attentive in the beginning, as the night picked up, they totally forgot about us. Let’s get real: The squid salad good. The Cajun clam spaghetti dish was horrible. The drinks were watery and bland especially the matcha pandan drink. I found another snack and drink place down the street with better stuff so I will not be returning.

It was our first time here. We had the New Yorker and Mango Perfection but one was too sour and the other too sweet. Meh. The décor is cool though. Will come back to try the food.(To be continued)

I’m being incredibly generous with this 2 star review because I see the potential. Please read below to see point justification. –1 Star: We asked for our crispy rice with sausage and our bot chien to be cooked extra crispy and even told the waitress that we didn’t mind if it takes longer, but we want there to be as much crunch as possible. Both dishes came out soggy and soft. Crisp level wasn’t even adequate for the dish in default form. Both dishes were disappointing and priced high for portion size. Drinks(New Yorker and orange juice) were alright, but nothing to write home about. –1 Star: Service is as minimal as it gets. After being seated, we were expected to order right away and from there only had food brought to our table without any water refills(despite the many requests) and no one who checked up on us – even when we tried signaling to order more food, no one came. There’s a sign saying if we are in a rush to go to the cashier to pay… we stayed there for a long time and weren’t in a rush but no one came to give us our check, so we had to go to the cashier to ask for our bill anyway(seems like default for everyone). Even then, we had to point to the table map to tell the cashier where we were seated. They literally provide as minimal service as it gets. There was a time we went here and tried ordering an OJ and some more food well ahead of closing hour and they had run out of everything we asked for and said they were washing the juicer so they couldn’t sell us anything we ordered — it’s poor planning on their part. If they close at 11, they should serve up to last call and not just start cleaning their pots and juicers an hour in advance – what’s the point of opening until 11 if nothing’s available for sale at 10? It was a waste of gas coming here that night. –1 Star: Ghetto, ghetto, ghetto. There are three entrances, of which, only half of one works. The other two doors looks huge and pretty but both have signs saying to use the next door. The one entrance that works, has two glass doors and the one that has a label for push/pull doesn’t even pull/push. You need to enter through the adjacent door, and its small size makes it inconvenient for large parties that need to enter/leave. They have a stamp card that says«buy 10 drinks, get one free» in which the«free» is crossed off and written as «$ 2.50 off». That doesn’t even cover the price for one drink! On top of that, they don’t offer or remind customers of that drink card! You have to ask for it! Also, you can only get a stamp for drinks you purchase from the to-go section of the restaurant. In other words, if you order a drink while dining in, you don’t get a stamp! That’s SO weird considering it’s the same restaurant. +1 Star: I enjoyed the papaya salad with squid. It’s tasty with good flavor, well cooked squid(a little chewy though), with a great crunch to the papaya. +1 Star: This place is bordering a 1 – 2 star, but I am not food poisoned, so I’ll give this place 2 stars because I didn’t get sick from their stuff. Plus they have wifi. Tip #1: If you want to get the stamp card, get it at the to-go section. You need to order your drinks there to get the stamp. Tip #2: Order the papaya salad with squid. Avoid bot chien and crispy rice. Tip #3: Wifi username: Tra house wifi Wifi password: trahousewifi

Here’s the breakdown of the items we tried: 3.5 stars for the New Yorker– peach and other black tea with strawberry seeds, lychee jelly, and basil seeds. Inventive and not too sweet 3 stars for the taro milk tea– not bad but not noteworthy 3.5 stars for the extra spicy popcorn chicken– light breading, tender chicken, and love that it’s actually spicy. You can pick a dipping sauce as well, tamarind or sweet and sour. Parking– it’s in a plaza with lots of spots. They share the same lot as boiling crab. Verdict– decided to give a 3 star since I’m not sure if I’ll be inclined to come back. They also have a shabu shabu restaurant attached. Could be interesting to check out.

Honestly, this place use to have amazing service and drinks were really bomb! But in the recent times I went there service has totally gone down. I went and ordered a cool tease and I told them I wanted it a large. They said okay and processed the order. When they called my name, they gave me a small. I told the girl that I asked for a large, she said«well the receipt says small» I told them that«yeah but I had already insisted the cashier that I want large.» She said«okay well it’s on the receipt if you want large it’s going to be an extra charge.» I said that’s fine because I wanted large. The girl took my drink opened the lid, poured the drink into a large cup, added ice, and placed the lid and handed to me. That was done for me. I won’t be coming here ever.

Recommend the New Yorker! Best one there! Wished they knew what mild meant with their food. Always too spicy when I ask for mild. Overall, it is a very good place to dine and hang with friends and family.

I’m simply not sold on it. Don’t get my wrong, the lobster with the garlic noodles were quit good, not to mention the combo soup, but as for the rest(snails, rolls, drinks) I can’t say they were memorable at all. Their customer service was on point. The food came out fast and hot and their overall prices were fair. I’ll likely give them another go… maybe I just wasnt in the mood. Their menu is extensive so I’m sure something is bound to blow my socks off.

The first time I went here it was great, but it seems like every visit after that the food just went more and more downhill. Got the popcorn chicken and Cajun garlic fries. Thank goodness I got the small, because the popcorn chicken was so dry and flavorless that me and my friend didn’t even finish it! Bleh! Even the basil leaves were dry and crispy. As for the Fries, they could’ve been seasoned more and I don’t think that they were fried too well. I ordered them to go, but by the time it got to my hungry hands, they were already soggy. It also seemed like I only got a pinch of garlic which fell straight to the bottom. For the drink, I got the Purple Rain with boba. Boba seemed undercooked and the Purple Rain got tiring real quick. Maybe it’s because it was filled with plenty of ice so that my drink tastes like water after awhile. I’m sorry but, boba competition is so fierce in OC, I wouldn’t waste my boba money here.

My GF loves boba, and I never understood why she craved it literally every day. Well, when you’re around someone who has half a boba leftover every day, you end up drinking a lot of boba yourself. Ive grown to like it. I’ve tried just about all the boba places around GG and Tra Teahouse is one of my faves. I love that it’s the perfect mix between sweet/fruity and traditional herbal teas. It’s not too sweet/artificial like Lollicup, nor is it mild and earthy like Trahava. They’ve got a ton of signature drinks to choose from. I really appreciate that the flavors they choose for each drink really balance each other out. And it’s not just this syrup with that syrup. It’s peach/lychee black tea with basil seeds, lychee jelly, and strawberry(the New Yorker) my favorite drink here. Having signature drinks with add-ons already incorporated really makes the ordering process easy. Especially for people like me who get overwhelmed with options to the point where I just don’t utilize them. They’ve recently added a «Crown Pops» fridge with popsicles similar to that of Pop Bar. They look interesting enough for me to try on my next visit. They serve your typical boba-style finger/street foods here like popcorn chicken, fries, etc. I’ve yet to try them as well, but it looks good, and I’ll definitely give it a whirl the next time I’ve got the munchies. I know it’s rude, but I like to check out the food on other people’s tables(I do it for Unilocal). If you’re really hungry, their actual restaurant next door has a nice vibe and at least from the looks/smells, the food looks promising. The boba got me thru the door at Tra Teahouse, and I’ll definitely be back for more. We’ll see if the food is just as good.

I will come here to get two things: the New Yorker and the rice paper salad. The NYer is a peach and lychee flavored black tea with lychee jelly and basil seeds. It’s not overly sweet. I’ve tried a few of their other drinks, but haven’t found one that I really love. The rice paper salad is bomb! It’s just strips of rice paper, tossed with beef jerky, mango slices, crispy onions, quail eggs, and what I’m guessing is some kind of fish sauce mixture. All I know is that it’s very yummy. It would definitely be a dish that pairs well with beer because it’s slightly salty and spicy. The actual place itself is pretty cool. They added a new table with bar stools so you can sit and talk. It isn’t a place I would recommend for people to come study at. They get a lot of foot traffic and the noise from the blenders is pretty distracting.

Tra Teahouse is located in a long strip mall in Westminster which is attached to a much larger full service restaurant. I just stopped in to get a cup of coffee and even though I had no idea what I wanted due to their huge menu, the guy behind the counter was patient enough to help me choose a great coffee. Holy cow. It was feak’n excellent too. I ordered a plain black iced coffee but it tasted like it had a hint of almond or something like that. Either way, it tasted great. Thanks for the great coffee and I’ll definitely be back soon.

I came here with a coworker and two acquaintances for dinner on a Tuesday night. The ‘Maps’ app said it was in a different complex, so my coworker and I got a little lost, but we eventually found it. The décor is very modern/hipster/edgy(??). There is dark stained wood and exposed pipes and a fountain. The restaurant space is pretty large as there are several booths and tables. My coworker and I joined our two acquaintances in their booth. They were eating a young jackfruit salad with shrimp chips, shrimp, and other random things. It was alright, a little too different for my liking. The menu has some pictures, so that’s helpful. It’s Vietnamese food, but some of it is trying to be ‘fancy.’ Like who goes to a Vietnamese restaurant for a $ 70 steak and grilled lobster? Weird. I ordered the pork chop with rice and added an egg for $ 1. Everyone’s food came out before mine so I was awkwardly sitting there for 15 – 20 minutes waiting… and waiting. Apparently the regular food is made in one kitchen and another chef cooks grilled stuff on the other side of the kitchen. The restaurant wasn’t terribly busy being that it was a weeknight, so I didn’t understand why my small pork chop took so long. They need to learn how to time their food better. The server also wasn’t very attentive as we had to ask where my food was twice. When it did arrive I wasn’t particularly impressed. It tasted like a typical pork chop I get at any phở/Vietnamese place. It was actually tougher than I thought it’d be and it was on the bone. The rice was standard, kind of a small portion. I thought the egg was going to be over-easy or at least somewhat runny, but it was fried/cooked all the way through. There was a side of pickled carrots and cabbage, but I only liked the carrots. The meal came with a side of fish sauce for dipping. My coworker had the shaken beef and said it was alright. He likes Tebo’s more. A family with two young children was seated in the booth behind us and their babies were running around EVERYWHERE(smh bad parents). The reason I bring this up is because the restaurant has shelves throughout the restaurant with extra bowls and plates… and the children got into these. This means that all the extra bowls and plates were now contaminated by the children’s hands. One child even dropped a bowl and broke it! I don’t think it’s a good idea to have these items out where anybody can touch them. The workers weren’t really doing anything to stop the children either, which could be problematic for the restaurant if something bad did happen … idk. Overall the food was mediocre and the experience was lackluster. I would not recommend or choose to come here again.

Sorry, but not sorry, Tra Tea House. No one stopped by to take our order. We sat in there and were given eye contact numerous times. You guys were not even busy! We pushed our menus off towards the end of the table facing outwards and you walked by and scooted them back on the table! Wtf. WTF! The food in the past was decent, but service was not great. This time, there’s no service and no food. Why do you even deserve 1 star?! *end rant.
