Spent hours trying to locate the place. No signs and eventually realize they no longer exist.

Great place. Just went today to get some tree collard. Also picked up a black mamba pepper.

I am a gardener and I love going to nurseries. Ran down to Compton for work and passed by this place, knowing full well, I was going to have to stop in on the way back home. I’m so glad I did. It’s not a big nursery, but I have to say, it’s probably the best nursery I’ve visited from Santa Barbara down to the Mexican border and we have a lot of great places here. The people were nice and friendly. The two men I spoke to know their plants and one guy gave me tips on mine, completely understanding the differences in our microclimates. The plants were all just stunningly gorgeous, much better looking than the plants in my side of town(NELA) and the prices can’t be beat. I plan to go back tomorrow to pick up a few plants I haven’t seen anywhere else and to show my family this gem.

One of my all-time favorite nurseries in Southern California, this place is a family-owned gem. It’s so homey, all the original handlettered signs are still in place, and many of the plants are handlabeled. Open since 1954, this place is run by people that(a) know plants, and(b) know SoCal’s climate and ecosystem, so everything is perfectly selected to grow well here. They specialize in vegetables and fruits, but also has a wonderful succulent garden and a great variety of landscape plants as well. They offer hard-to-find tree collards, unusual food plants like jicama and peanuts, and a diverse selection of peppers, tomatoes, herbs, melons, okra, alliums and more. They also have fruit trees, berry bushes and grapevines, all lovingly tended. Last but not least, the prices are amazing. On any given plant-shopping day, I get a great deal more quality for my dollar from Centrose than from any other place I go. Centrose is fantastic!
