Their green sauce is the least water’y in the area and they have an additional orange colored one too. Tallarin Verde is my favorite, as it’s steak and spaghetti. Their rolls are often warm and more fresh than El Pollo Inka. Their fettuccine is bland mush and their breaded chicken or fish is gross. The batter is really nasty and comes right off like a coat. I’m giving this 1 star because I’ve had times where staff were easily annoyed by people I took along with me and how they handle take out via phone. I am either hung up on or they leave the phone off the hook leaving me wait 10 – 15 minutes for nobody to ever pick up and take my order. You can’t call back either because of the busy phone sound. No free desert or anything. They don’t want my business and I’ve given up on them.

I love their Asian fusion cuisine, tiradito con Leche de Tigre is to die for. We always come and never leave disappointed. Family friendly and it has great service even for a party of 15(like us), their servers help eachother you can tell they really know what team work is all about.

The atmosphere is comfortable/casual. They are zagat rated for the past 3 years! The fish is fabulous and they didn’t skimp on the serving either! The server was very nice and attentive. The girl that seated us should smile and at least seem like she is happy to be at work.

This is our«go to» place when we have a hankering for Peruvian food… It doesn’t matter how far we have to travel to get here, but it is always a treat to eat in El Rocoto. We tried everything and everything is so yummy… Your eyes will feast on the well put food and your palate will be happy as well as your stomach will be satisfied… From seafood to the meats, you will want to come back and try something new… The ceviche is awesome and other sides and starters are a must… I would have taken photos but it’s hard to take photos when you are hungry… The kids always order the lomito saltado and the fried fish… and they happily eat it to and empty plate. The hubby loves his fried fish and I love all the seafood dishes…

Best Peruvian restaurant by far I’ve had it is quite a drive from us but worth it. Ate here fri night dinner with some friends, wait times is pretty fast prolly 10mins or less when we went. Lots of parking outside. Nice roomy and big tvs on each side to watch while waiting. Their bread is sooo good with two sauces one hot green and one reg sauce which is the orange color. They gave those breads and are free while waiting. Breads are nice and soft on the inside and just right of toastiness on the outside. Thats just the bread… I ordered the arroz con mariscoz– mixed with seafood and sauce simmered rice with onions. Cant describe the goodness of this dish. U have to try this dish if your craving seafood. It has shrimp, clam, calamari squid. Also ordered sweet potato chips and fried bananas. Go here u wont be disappointed

Most ridiculous incident. Went in to grab drink with my girlfriend, after seeing a advertisement outside their restaurant stating«Full Bar». Upon entering I notice they only have 3 bar seats and 2 people were eating there. When I asked to have if we could grab drinks at a table the host went and asked if that would be ok. The ridiculous part is that there was no wait, open tables, and was told we had to wait until the bar top opened up. For a place with a «B» rating they shouldn’t be pushing paying customers out. Obviously this place isn’t interested in making money or health codes.

I think this might be my new favorite restaurant. Having authentic dishes and a staff that can recommend them makes a huge difference for me. I’m not sure what is in the green and orange sauces that they bring out with bread, but its awesome! Drinks were really good and freshly made. I was so stuffed that I didn’t get a chance to even try any of their desserts but as I mentioned earlier this is my new favorite spot so I’ll be back!

Had dinner with a couple friends who had never been to a Peruvian restaurant before. They were very impressed by the food. We ordered to share: chicken fried rice, seafood soup/chowder and a classic ceviche looking dish… it had a more complicated name. The fried rice was really good, although I’ve had it slightly better at one other Peruvian restaurant on Hawthorne, and the seafood soup was very tasty. There were lots of shrimp, fried fish n fried eggs… huge bowl. The«classic ceviche» was perfect. Lime, minced red onions, giant corn kernels, roasted soybeans… perfect. Service was excellent. Our waitress kept checking back, brought us refills without prompting and the other wait staff were awesome with keeping an eye on our table. Very cool service. I saw many other Asians dining here so I believe we dig this cuisine. For sure.

This restaurant is the true definition of a 5 star restaurant, and it really can’t get any better! I drove an hour away from Rowland Heights just to go get real, legit, Peruvian food since there is none near my parents’ house and I was pretty impressed. Parking is easy to find, there’s a big lot and not too many cars even though it is located in a relative big shopping center. The restaurant itself is very big too. It’s spacious and nicely decorate– it has a touch of Peru but it also manages to look classy and modern inside. I really liked the atmosphere. The menu is a great selection and prices are average. I highly recommend the Maracuya«Peruvian Passion Fruit Drink». It’s sweet and tangy– perfect flavor. I went with a lomo saltado and paid around $ 15 but I was certainly pleased because all my meat and veggies were marinated so well. The meat itself was tender and juicy– al dente. I would say that I did expect a bigger portion of rice for the rest of my meal. Service is fast, friendly and helpful! We only waited less than 15 minutes for our food– cannot complain!

Visited the restaurant on Friday evening and we had made reservations in advance, but the place wasn’t too busy, surprisingly! Its a slightly more upscale Peruvian restaurant with mediocre service, as for the food however, it was delicious! Highlights: — Dipping Sauces — They serve two sauces, a green sauce and a orange spicy sauce. Both are delicious and go well with everything you order at the restaurant! — Mixto Cebiches — Sooo delicious! The halibut and octopus combined with the glazed sweet potato yam… just perfectly balanced and light. A great appetizer to share and start the meal. — Parihuela Salvaje — A Peruvian seafood soup… the broth is so delicious! I added some limes to the soup and it tasted even better! — Helado de Lucuma — Tried this Peruvian ice cream for the first time and it was interesting. The ice cream is made out of the lucuma fruit(which was my first time trying). I was expecting a fruity taste, but it was actually on the more savory end… tasted a lot like hazelnut and i would definitely recommend it! I also tried the Lomo Saltado and flan for dessert, but they were not memorable. Also, don’t get the Yuca… it tasted overcooked and microwaved, so overall disappointing. I think there are more unique things worth trying here rather than the typical dishes you can get elsewhere. All in all, the food was delicious and I can’t wait to come back and try the other things on the menu!

I stopped here on my way home. I picked up a rib eye for my little girl. I really do like the sauces. As for the rib eye… It was okay. I do plan on trying El Rocoto again. A Peruvian girl said that this place has one of the best Lomo Saltado. The wait was less than 10 minutes.

After a trip to the paintball store, I was craving some steak– so we found this place, saw the pictures and wanted to stop in. We were sat quickly around 6pm. Friendly servers, and prompt service before the place was packed. Light, crisp rolls arrived promptly upon seating, including two dipping sauces, and butter. We started with the tuna ceviche– $ 15. It was a generous serving but too strong on the salt/soy sauce. I was surprised to have the ceviche be the asian influence instead of the Mexican version, but then read more about traditional Peruvian cuisine and learned of ALL the influences– including Asian in certain dishes. I wouldn’t order this dish again, as the texture of the tuna indicated it had been thawed/frozen, as it was very mushy– the color was much darker than expected as well. Not a lot of avocado. My steak was an expected size, somewhere between 10 – 12 ounces, thin, but cooked as ordered. My dish was paired with french fries(subpar– McDonald’s or a fast food place makes better fries), steamed rice topped with a fried egg, and side salad. The chimichurri for the steak was the best chimi I’ve ever had– the olive flavors were robust, spices balanced, and salt, spot-on. The side salad was drenched in dressing, which turned the lettuce soggy quickly. Friendly servers, tasty sauces, but a bit overpriced, and aside from the sauce, which was a small component of several, nothing seemed to be truly memorable.

This place is pricey, but the food is good. I was shocked to see that appetizers were over $ 12. It’s not your typical hole in the wall Peruvian place. The lomo saltado is good. I prefer Chicken Shack and Mario’s, but the one here tastes less greasy. The picante mariscos was very good. Specifically the sauce with rice, calamari, shrimp, and clams. It’s a very rich dish. Service is decent. Place looks very nice, but it’s comfortably casual. Overall a very good option for Peruvian food.

Juicy Peruvian food I’ve been coming here for awhile and it is one of the juiciest Peruvian restaurants I’ve been to. I personally think it’s better than El Pollo Inka, but they’re both up there. The place is clean and ambiance is classy. The prices are decent. The servers are always pretty good and attentive. The food is excellent. I always get the chaufa especial. It is a mixed fried rice with meat and shrimp. It is the best thing on the menu and a must try. Another item on the menu that never disappoints is the lomo soltado. Recently I tried the lomo soltado with the noodles and I must say its not as good as it is with the rice and fries. The noodle doesn’t complement the sauce and doesn’t soak in the sauce. There is happy hour from 3−6pm and we were able to try the ceviche and it was ok. The fish and shrimp was excellent but the other things on the dish didn’t complement it like the nuts but some people like it. So to each their own ;) you won’t be disappointed visiting this restaurant. Has the best bread and green and red sauce.

For those of you who don’t speak Spanish, El Rocoto means… The Rocoto. The service here is amiable enough and the food portions are quite large and match their $ 12+ fee. I personally love the fried rice though you can never go wrong with the lomo saltado. Be sure to try out their special green sauce that comes with your order. Also, you get complementary bread. Excellent food all around.

This place exceeded all expectations. Usually places like this that are tucked inside a strip mall have tacky décor and greasy food. Not El Rocoto. The ceviche and arroz con mariscos was BOMB. Ceviche was a little sour, but you get used to it. The halibut in the mixed ceviche was fantastic. But actually, the best part of the meal was the baguette and green sauce(chimchuri?). It tastes like it’s avocado-based with a creamy texture, but it’s got a nice kick to it. I could literally just eat bread and green sauce and call it a day. Only bad part was the service. I’ll chalk it up to them being busy, but if you need something don’t expect a waiter to come over; you’ll need to flag one down.

My aji de gallina was good. My fiancés saltado de mariacos was so dry it was hard to swallow any of it. On the menu it says + shrimp $ 2 more. However, when the bill came it had a $ 5 plus charge. I talked to the waiter about it and he said because of the fries. My fiancé didn’t say he wanted extra fries! We thought it was part of the saltado. I dislike extra unknown charges. Will not be coming here.

I was craving Peruvian food on a Friday night, so my boyfriend and I made our way over to El Rocoto. The restaurant was pretty full, but luckily there was one last table for two open, so we were seated immediately! Service was friendly, and our food came out pretty fast. Bread: This deserves its own category! As we looked over the menu, our server brought us a basket of warm rolls, slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. With it, came two dipping sauces: Aji Verde(Green) and an Orange sauce. The Aji Verde is a little spicy, and the heat builds as you keep eating it. The bread was so good that we couldn’t help asking for more! Food: — Arroz Con Mariscos — Rice simmered in saffron wine sauce with squid, mussels, shrimp, octopus, and scallops. This dish has an excellent flavor with a surprisingly large amount of seafood! They give you a lime and lemon slice on the side to squeeze over the rice, if you desire. I really liked the hint of citrus combined with the seafood. — Lomo Saltado — My first time having lomo saltado, and I thought it was really good! This dish consists of stir-fried beef, onions, tomatoes, and fried potatoes(fries) with rice. The flavor of the combination of ingredients was on point, but the beef was a little tougher and chewier than I would have liked. Maybe I’ll try the Saltado de Pollo next time! I will be back for sure!
