John is probably the best guide on the in the Nehalem/​Tillamook River. He’s a retired firefighter who’s been fishing for over 30 years in the area. He knows the Nehalem river Chinook run better than anyone else. He took us out in the ocean in 200 feet of water for some great Coho fishing. The best reason to go out with John is that he’s a hell of a guy. He has an incredibly distinguished client roster – the who’s who of Portland – who keep coming back again and again. In the summer, he takes anyone from 11-​year olds fishing with their dads for the first time, business people, or experienced fishermen looking to learn a few things. He fished with us for over 8 hours until we got our fish.
