China City Restaurant

Was driving home from my moms in Rockwall back to arlington and wanted chinese we decided to stop off the highway at china city and im in love. We ordered sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoons. The amount of chicken (white meat may i add) they give you is enough to feed 3 people and it had diced peppers and pineapple to give it a great flavor. I would rate them 10 stars. Best chinese food i have had for awhile wish there was a place like you in Arlington. Two thumbs up if yall are in the area deff a must have.

Yuck the China city in mesquite sucks so I’m pretty sure this one does too especially after reading most of these reviews I don’t see how this place is open and there are multiple locations

The ironic thing about my visit to this restaurant was I spent a good few minutes ensuring there would be no animal products in the vegetable bean curd — no fish sauce, chicken broth, dairy products, beef bouillon, etc.
I didn’t ask if there would be a wadded piece of brown bag in my meal.
Which there was.
It must suck to deserve such a bad review. But this is what happened to me, and I think that’s unsafe and gross — yall deserve to know. Also, the entryway DOES smell FOUL. And when I drove back for a refund, (which is pretty inconvenient! I ordered pick up) the managers weren’t even apologetic; they looked at me with suspicion and did not refund my drink. :D now that’s customer service.

Just picked up A Philadelphia Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and the 2 piece Eel sushi. As someone who has worked in higher end Dallas restaurants, I think the very poor reviews were wrongfully given, especially of the sushi. I have eaten at some of the most expensive high end to hole in the wall sushi restaurants. For the price and location the quality was quite good! Let’s be real, there are very few places in Garland to get sushi at all, let alone decent. Yes, it does have a bit of a fishy smell in the restaurant but people need to save an open mind for the food.

Several years ago this was a great restaurant. But new owners have ruined it. The place now stinks. The food is bland. The service is slow, at best, and typically non-​existant.
The sign outside says the lunch special is $ 4.99, but it is much more than that. Mine was $ 9.21 with tax and I had water to drink. The $ 4.99 price was what the previous owners charged years ago and the new owners have not updated the sign.
Not recommended.

The food doesn’t taste very good. Full of sugar and low quality meat. Pretty sure the people who run this place wouldn’t feed this to their children OR their pets. Tried the crab rangoon based on other positive reviews, and I can see why: it’s flavorless, which is better than bad flavor. Will not be coming back.

I order take out from here pretty often! Love the sesame chicken, although it is a little sweet sometimes! The restaurant itself is definitely not very «clean» in appearance. There’s a lot of clutter, but I’ve never been dissatisfied with the food itself

We’ve been ordering from here for a while now… and last night’s order was our last.
First off, the people aren’t very nice. Some of the food is really bland — the combination fried rice isn’t worth it (dry, no flavor, big chunks of dry beef and chicken, no pork, also didn’t chop it up so it was a big lump in the rice). I’ve had better! The teriyaki chicken however is great, with lots of good veggies. The egg rolls are good. We love the moo shoo chicken and even the orange chicken.
Now for the kicker… I packed my partner’s lunch last night to take to work today. She found a dead cockroach in her leftovers. Eeeeeek!
We’ve only ever ordered the food for delivery to our home. Now that I’ve come onto Unilocal to read about how disgusting the restaurant itself is, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

The food is nasty and this place is very dirty. there is stuff all over the first two tables. Smell very dirty the floor in the ladies room is very sticky. I so Glade i did not eat here.

I will start off by saying that I will never go back to this place EVER again. First, there is false advertising on the window of the restaurant stating they have lunch specials for $ 4.99. This was not true. Second, the lady that was taking my order apparently did not understand the English language very well. I ordered my meal and said that I wanted a bottled drink (the only thing they offer because the fountain machine was broken. which is overpriced for a 16 oz. dr. pepper). Third, when the food was brought out, a very rude guy that worked there was very demanding stating I owed him $ 1.50 extra for the drink because I hadn’t paid for it yet when clearly I stated that I wanted one when I paid. Fourth, the food was the worst Chinese food I have ever had before. I ordered the orange chicken and it hardly had any flavor to it. Fifth, the fried rice was also bad. it looked like it was brown rice that had been steamed. It stuck together in huge clumps and was very bland with no flavor whatsoever! There was no egg or vegetables in it either which I found was very odd coming from a Chinese restaurant. Sixth, the meal came with an eggroll that had a weird smell. I tore one open and it smelt as the cabbage in it was old. Seventh, this place was not clean. Over half of the tables had some something on them. From boxes of spilt fortune cookies to menus scattered all over the table. Eighth, the music was very annoying while you are doing the best that you can to eat this awful meal. Not only annoying but turned up so loud that I couldn’t even hear myself think. Ninth, my most favorite part of eating chinese food is the fortune cookie. well it was stale. How can you screw up a fortune cookie? oh wait maybe because it had been baking in the sun next to the window as many of them was spilt all over the table. Last but not least, the place smelt like sewage.
I gave it one star just because I had to on Unilocal.This was overall a terrible experience and I do not recommend anyone going here.

This place was horrible. There was a sewage smell upon entering the front door. The staff was both incompetent and very rude. Food was very bland and the fried rice was horrible. It really wasn’t even fried rice. The egg roll smelt like it was rotting. I couldn’t even try it but we ripped one open and it seems as if they are using out dated product. You practically have to walk through the kitchen just to get to the bathrooms. Wasn’t surprised to find those dirty as well. I don’t even want to think about how dirty the kitchen is going to be. I am just hoping this food doesn’t make me sick. The music was obnoxiously loud and didn’t even make sense. Pretty sure they just went to Walmart and bought the cheapest cd they could find. I’ve never heard a Kenny G sound track in a Chinese restaurant before.
On the plus side they do have a Christmas tree and some samurai swords in the back.
I will never be coming here again and I highly suggest no one else does either. I would give this place 0 stars if Unilocal would let me.

It was a friday night at 9:20 when my girlfriend and I decided to eat chineese. I asked her what places she knew around here that would deliver to us. She mentioned this place and I really wish she didnt. We ordered the food which was a poo poo platter, won ton soup for 2, shrimp fried rice and calafornia rolls. When we got the food delivered to us, we attempted to eat the severely overcooked poo poo platter. It was so hard that literally if I bit into it, I would have broken my brand new veneers I just got placed in. The chicken was so dry it was worse then leather. the wonton soup was like drinking brown water with no flavor at all and the shrimp fried rice was overcooked and the shrimp smelled off. The calafornia rolls were ok though but not the best. I called the restaurant back to let them know that the food was very bad and they a lady got on the phone. SHE was so nasty and wouldnt even let me speak to her, instead she was telling me that I was a liar and that she would not refund my money nor make me another dish properly and redeliver it to me and pick up the old one (which was not edible). She also would not stop yelling and I said mam I want my money back or you to pick up this food and replace it with food that I can eat. She then said that she was going to call the police so after that I hung up the phone and called my bank. I disputed the charge and my money now has appeared back into my account. I then went up there to the store this morning and returned everything I ordered since it was non edible. The gentleman there at the store asked me what I was doing and I said I m returning this food and it was terrible. I said to him that if he wants to do the right thing he can refund my money. He said to me no sir no refund… I then said as I was walking out the door «Sir I will have the bank give me back my money dont worry about it.» I now looked at the back kitchen when I was there though and noticed why I felt so sick this morning from even trying a little of the food we got. The kitchen is dirty and no one is wearing gloves. They have flies in the back and the oil they use was so brown and nasty it just made me sick to look at it. I called the health department on them and also reported them to the better business bearuo. Anyways, I really was hoping for having a nice chineese dinner on my friday night after working hard all week. Instead I got poisoned, yelled at, had to spend 20 mins with the bank to get my money back, gas to drop off the food that they wouldnt come back to pick up, and was left hungry for the night. I suggest no one EVER eat here but buyers beware! You couldnt pay me to eat their food… last but not least… when I spit one of the pieces of food out of my mouth with the bad tasting shrimp, I dropped it on the floor next to my dog and not even he would eat it. My dog will eat his poop once in a while but he would not even eat that food.

Food is AMAZING and people there are very nice. Sushi is especially great! Jason Nan were spectacular! :)

I was wanting sushi tonight and wanted it delivered, so we tried this place. Never again. This is so freaking nasty. I read lots of reviews, but rarely make one, but I feel I need to warn people.
First, we ordered the volcano roll. It’s a California roll with a thick layer of mayonnaise on top. Not spicy mayo, no scallops, not even baked like the menu says. SO GROSS. We also ordered the caterpillar roll, the Emily roll, and the eel cucumber avocado roll. It was all so nasty. This is the worse sushi I’ve ever, ever had. We did not finish it; I feel sick.
I can’t speak for their Chinese food, but if you’re wanting some sushi, run far, far away.

I don’t even like Chinese food but I love this place! We’ve only ever got delivery, and it’s always arrived reasonably fast. I prefer ordering online due the the language barrier it’s hard to understand them on the phone. Very tasty :9

Had fried rice yesterday. It was pretty good.
FYI. No wifi.

Food is cheap tasting. Prices aren’t! SLOW delivery the time I used them. AND the lady on the phone can barely understand me. Ugh! I choose King China instead!

This place is very good but they are not very helpful if you do not know what you want. Ask for extra spicy and they will kick it up!
