Wing Wah is the closest Chinese restaurant in my new area. D likes getting takeout here and for the most part, Wing Wah does fill that Chinese food craving. We’ve strictly done takeout but the restaurant inside looks clean. A lot of the space is dated but I don’t imagine they’ll remodel given the outside surroundings. A lot of the food portions are huge. For example the sweet and sour chicken ordered has plenty of fried chicken pieces. Their veggie soup has more veggies than soup, which D likes. However the shrimp with garlic sauce I ordered the other day could’ve used a few more pieces of shrimp… I’m Just Saying. It did have plenty of onions though…*LOL*. Sometimes when calling I find myself having to repeat my order but so far everything that’s been ordered has no errors. So we’ll definitely be back.

GREAT service! The food is REALLY good too! Best Chinese restaurant in the area. My husband has been coming here for years. I tried the steak today and it was cooked perfect. The décor is cute and I felt like most of the people that came in were regulars because the employees were super excited to greet all the customers. This may have been one of the friendliest restaurant staffs ever.

Wing Wah Chinese food has been around for a long time. Owners are real nice down to earth folks. My husband and I get carry out or eat in 2 – 3 times per week. Love the smoothies and lunch specials.

Food Was ok! I have eat better fried rice in my life, the prices ok too, but what I don’t tolerate it’s that they added their«15% tip» on the total amount, without even telling anyone about it! What if they just give me the option to do it on my own! I must stated that I don’t have anything against tip at all, I even give more than 20%! sometimes double the check! When the servers are nice. They weren’t on my opinion.

I always get delivery and the good is relatively good if you get what you ordered. There is a very aggravating language barrier so you must repeat your order an abundant amount of times. Delivery people are wonderful and extra polite. They always call before arrival. Always have to check my order upon receipt, especially for condiments. Over all good!

I started going to Wing Wah when I was ten years old and, after moving to Indianapolis, was super bummed as I couldn’t find one Chinese place here that makes crab Rangoon, kung po beef or pork chop suey the way Wing Wah does. I was visiting this weekend so in my way out of town I called in my order for fine cut pork chop suey and extra white rice and threw in a bag of Winnie’s fortune cookies for dessert. I love this place, the food is always excellent, my single negative is the girl who answers the phone, she was very nice and polite but she didn’t speak English well and it was difficult to understand her

I love this place. There are a couple places that are comparable but not quite. The family that runs it are good people and their portions are HUGE!!! It is good food also. The only bad thing is their egg rolls are not that crispy any more. But everything else makes up for it!!!

Not so great. Had carry out tonight Governor’s Chicken Soggy not crispy no spice at all like mcnuggets. Egg roll like from frozen section supermarket. This place was good 10 years ago not so much tonight.

The only thing I’ve had from here that was good was the wing wah lo mein. I’ve tried the egg rolls and they were very greasy. The fried rice was quite bland.

Desperate is not even a good enough reason to eat here. Their egg rolls hold more grease than a carafe of oil. I thought«how bad could this be?» when I went in and found it hard to keep the contents in my stomach by the time I left. I don’t know where the people that reviewed the food here ate Chinese food before, but, wow. People were nice at least.

I consult Unilocal reviews frequently, and write my own when I am either pleased or disappointed in a dining experience. I must say my wife and I were pleased with our Wing Wah Restaurant experience. The other reviews are accurate; the restaurant is located on a stretch of US20 dotted with ruins, strip clubs and heavy industry. Don’t be put off by the location! What you are going to get here is plentiful, tasty, inexpensive Chinese food. Chinese owned, Chinese operated, and Chinese staffed(kitchen too). It always gives me confidence when an ethnic place is staffed by those with the same heritage. Lots of choices on the menu. We ordered the Family Meal for two($ 19.95) and got plenty of food. Actually we have enough left overs for a good sized lunch tomorrow. The meal came with a bowl of egg flower soup(probably the most mediocre thing we had… it was ok, not great), an appetizer plate for each of us which had an eggroll, a piece of foil wrapped boneless chicken, and a full pork rib. Nicely cooked, fresh, with flavors of five-spice powder. We both felt almost full after the soup and appetizer! Next came sweet and sour pork, beef chop suey and chicken fried rice. Nothing earthshaking… just good quality, hot, tasty and plentiful food. This plus a Tsingtao beer came to $ 25.00. YES, they serve beer and wine. Thanks Wing Wah. I will definitely be back! Especially since I only live about five minutes away. :)

Solid Chinese! Don’t let the deserted strip mall scare you off. The place is very clean and so is the bathroom, Friendly people.

This place has been around forever. I had not been there in a very long time but was taken there for lunch a little while ago. Good food, great service and the place was full. That in itself tells me something. You won’t be disappointed if you visit.

Orange chicken was good… food was done in 5 minutes so I have to question that… they didn’t give us white rice with our order… everything was extra and the portions were small compared to other restaurants that all serve the same thing… other than that the food was good. It came out hot and fresh.

Solid Chinese food. Had almond beef and shrimp kung poa and both were pretty good. I got the food as take-out but the dining room was clean and looked like a nice place to eat.

There is a saying that the worse the neighborhood, the better the Chinese food. The person that coined that phrase must have done so at Wing Wah. The food is delicious and the portions are superhuman. The price is very nice.

Don’t let the unpolished exterior fool you, the food is excellent and interior is super cute. I always carry out because they don’t serve wine/beer and don’t allow customers to BYO, but it’s a nice spot for a quiet lunch or dinner if you don’t require any adult beverages. I absolutely love the Mongolian beef, steamed pot stickers, egg rolls, chicken rice soup, and shrimp fried rice. This family-owned authentic restaurant consistently provides a delicious meal for a great price. Booyah!

I’m kinda thinking that Lea needs a laxative or some relaxation techniques. Wing Wah will never win any awards but it offers up really good and dependable Cantonese«specialties» for a good price. Not sure what Lea is talking about regarding portions, but I usually bitch b/c the cartons are so over filled that they ooze onto my counter. We’re in Miller Beach for Christ’s sake so Charlie Trotter is not likely planning on swinging past and serving up dinner. By all means go to Wing Wah for as lazy Friday or Saturday dinner. Wing Wah is a good, dependable, reasonably priced place close to home. Check em out.

For over a year, after each great dining experience found by the help of Unilocal,I have been toying with the idea of writing a wonderful review. With that being said ~ it saddens me to the core that I will break my virginity like this… After moving from my beloved city of Chicago expensiveness to the humble Gary area, I constantly seek delicious and nutritious cuisine. Needless to say I find myself back in the city. And that brings me to my first review… at 8pm ~ hungry and lazy the family opted for Chinese food. Oh what to do… we know consult my trusted Unilocal app! I tend to set my filter for highest rating ~ and up pops Wing Wah and only 6 miles away. Great! No NOT great! I’m not one to complain about service cause my main objective is to fill my belly. But this was insane! My husband ordered ~ he’s easy ~ my cousin and his wife ordered and then I checked out menu and opted for the combination special of kung pow shrimp ~ but I despise those boo-boo shrimp so as with all Chinese places I get veggie rice. Don’t you know those bums told me it was a $ 2 up charge ~ I say cool just plain rice please ~ still $ 2 up charge. WTF! Okay whatever ~ but don’t eat beef or pork so may I just get a veggie eggroll? ~ no we only have chicken, beef, and shrimp eggroll. WTF! This should have been my que to hit the door and reconsult the great Unilocal.I didn’t want to be the cause of every ones hunger pains so we stayed and proceeded to get nickled and dimed to death. Extra sweet and sour sauce ~ that’ll be 25cents for a tumble May I have some hot mustard ~ that’ll be 50 cents a thimble May I have a few more packets of soy sauce ~ they will be 10 cents each. May I have some hot pepper flake chili sauce ~ cost you 50 cents a thimble Fine F it. Pay this awful rude man and let’s get home and eat to deliciousness. Got home ~ opened the containers and was like ~ Are you kidding me! The portions were the tiniest, stingiest, most meager portions I have ever witnessed from any Asian spot in my entire life! That sauce was runny and watery. And by some chance I would’ve wanted the chili sauce with the rooster and green top(you know what I’m talkin ’bout) I would have pulled mine out the fridge. These people are getting over cause there isn’t nothing else in the area. The food was decent ~ I’ve had better from black cooks using recipes off WTTW. The value absolutely sucks! The people are rude and nickle and dime the hell out of you I hate I lost my Unilocal review virginity like this. The shame. Well my stomach is asking for some more substance so I guess I will whip up a pb&j. Oh the shame!

I agree with the other reviews about Wing Wah! The food is good and the portions are large. I had the orange chicken. Good service also. The interior is outdated; don’t come for the ambiance, but the food is good! My friend in Gary mentioned this restaurant has been in its location for decades!
