Even tho their beers are not what I like… I’m a beer snob… Their food is better then any«bar food». Their way of making their food always amazes me. I have yet to have something bad from there. I wouldn’t recommend bringing smaller children with you… But pre-teens and teens are ok. Also, they make mixed drinks with their beer, which is awesome!!!

This place has some excellent beer. I’m partial to the Back 40 Hefeweizen, a darker hefeweizen made with a dark wheat. As far as food, I have only tried the Mahi Mahi tacos which were very good, but those dining with me all enjoyed their meals as well. I would give it five stars but they lose a star because there is nothing to deaden the noise and it gets almost to loud to have a conversation during the meal.

A BIGFIVESTAR rating from this girl on all aspects of this awesome Brewery/Restaurant! First and foremost, the overall experience is outstanding! If you want great atmosphere, food, fun and a huge assortment of great tasting craft beer; then, this is the place for you! I have had most of the brews but my favorites are the Blonde, Peanut Butter Back 40& Dark King Oatmeal Stout. Food wise, my fav’s are their wood fire Carnivore pizza, chopped chicken salad & Hummus — YUM! They also provide complimentary milk chocolate malted milk balls after dinner that are to die for. Did I mention the service… it’s outstanding! I was even provided a tour of the brewing facilitates. Don’t forget to purchase a Crowler of your favorite brew for later! Can’t say enough about this place! Will go back again & again! Cheers! Jillene — Coal Valley, IL

Great beer selections and food! I recommend a beer flight so you can sample all the great house brews! I’m a big fan of the IPA’s and saison. Beer«cocktails» for those who aren’t beer drinkers. The regular menu has good selection with fresh ingredients but I LOVE the weekly food specials — always clever and delicious!

Good food and atmosphere. I am not crazy about their drinks like a bloody mary having their beer in them. I get that it is unique, but the taste is not great. The beer on it’s own, GOOD stuff. Definitely glad to have them in town!

Beer is ok but better at other brewery in town. Food is decent. Décor is more industrial and seems be a young crowd — early 20s group. Closed on Mondays which is disappointing for Monday night football.

After months of fanfare, I was finally able to try Lionstone Brewery over the Thanksgiving break. Anytime you anticipate something this much, there is always the possibility of a let down; there’s no chance of the establishment meeting your sky high expectations. It’s safe to say, however, Lionstone not only met my expectations, but managed to exceed them! A few things help this place stand out including inventive new brews, a menu that is both unique and sumptuous, great«barchitecture», and excellent service. We tried the beer flight after our server went over all of our options, and they brought us the turnstile type rack, complete with labels, and properly sized beer chalices. The peanut butter brew had a flavor unlike any other beer I’ve ever tried, and the vanilla porter also impressed. There were more options than we could handle, and I eventually settled in on a couple nice pints of Hefeweizen. We sampled a number of different plates for our meal, including both appetizers and their wood fired pizzas. A table favorite were the truffle frites with pork and saison cheese; our server gave us an extra plate to turn the perfectly set up portions into a delicious, indulgent heap. The beer pretzels were my personal favorite with the pork dust and aforementioned saison cheese making this a must have. The woodfired pizzas came out at the perfect time, and were not flimsy as some neapolitan pizzerias tend to offer. The entire time service was terrific; attentive yet without becoming a nuisance. Overall, my first experience at Lionstone was exceptional. It is a unique and refreshing option for Geneseo that manages to hit every mark. There is not a chance I will be skipping this place next time I am in town.

Growing up in Geneseo, it would have been great to have a place like this to go eat and hang out with friends. We tried this place for the first time while visiting family over the weekend. My husband and brother had a flight(nice sizes and good prices). We had the shrimp pizza, truffle fries(didn’t realize that there were jalapeños, so I would order again without those) with shredded beef and mushroom pizza. The pizzas were deli sous — light and flavorful. The truffle fries were delicious. We got there on a Friday night around 6:00 and had about a 15 minute wait. Not bad at all. They do move people in and out, so don’t expect to just sit at a table and talk all night. There is plenty of room @ the bar to enjoy your time there as well. Overall, order impressed with this place and that it is on Geneseo. Two thumbs up!

Excellent food, great staff, and amazing beers. Best in the QCA. We had a sampling of the pizzas, the cheese fries, and had a few samplers of all of the beers and they were all great. There aren’t many restaurants that have this quality of food in the area, let alone Geneseo, and it was greatly needed addition. I come back every time I’m home.

This was our first time trying this restaurant. The beers were literally ALL delicious. The peanut butter beer is DEFINITELY something to brag about! The food is great if you’re willing to step outside of typical bar food. The service was outstanding especially considering how busy they were. We will be back!

Can’t say enough about this place. The beer is fantastic, with many unique varieties that are sure to please even a non-beer drinker. The food is extremely well done. My personal favorites are the Mahi Mahi tacos and the burger, but you can’t go wrong with any of the wood fire pizzas either! I also love the appearance and décor of the brewery. It’s very cool that customers can see into the actual brew house and learn how the beer is made. Lastly, the staff is so nice and attentive that I will go back simply to be around the great people. Highly recommend Lionstone Brewery! It’s going to be a staple in Geneseo for a long time to come!

I’m going to start with the positive of this brewery and gastropub. I love how you can see into where their brew tanks are, it’s even more entertaining to watch actual workers in there! It’s like watching a mad scientist at work. They also have Bloody Mary’s, I didn’t have one but they looked DELICIOUS. We started our meal at Lionstone with their meatballs appetizer. That was FIRE. The woodfire crisps were absolutely delicious. If I went back to actually eat a meal at Lionstone again, I’d definitely get the Meatballs. Their staff? EXCELLENT, OUTSTANDING, PERFECT. Great customer service and really made sure they listened to complaints and compliments. Kudos to the hiring managers/owners at finding a great staff. Now I’m going to get critical, like laying on a deathbed critical. My mom and I were so excited to try their woodfire pizza. We’ve had woodfire pizza before(many a times) and having this type of cuisine in Geneseo of all places, is pretty cool. Yeah, first bite? Not so cool. We had the Margherita Pizza. The sauce had no flavor, the tomatoes were overcooked and squishy, and it was just disappointing. The only flavor I got was the basil. I’ve had the Margherita za at Woodfire Grill in Davenport and that was MUCH better than Lionstones version. This pizza would have been better with a little more sauce, salt and pepper in the sauce, not over-cooking the tomatoes and possibly a balsamic vinegar drizzle. Now to the beer. My mom tried the Blonde and I had the Hefeweizen. We shared. We were not impressed. The Blonde was bitter, almost like you were drinking a hoppy Miller Lite. Gross. The Hefeweizen was smooth, but had nothing that made me say«WOW». It’s definitely not a Bent River. My opinion on Lionstone is this is a gem that could be better than it is. They might need to focus on perfecting one thing at a time rather than having a brewery, a restaurant, a sponsorship of Travis Pastrana. But that is my opinion. Maybe things will get better when they get their kinks out? But I’ll be back, I don’t just say«I’ll never go again» because of one bad experience. And to mention again, the staff really does want you to come back. And that means something to me!!!

The Lionstone menu has a nice variety of good selections. The group I was with had the pretzel sticks and truffle fries. The house made dipping sauces that go with the pretzels are very good, and the truffle fries are awesome. We had two styles of the brick oven pizza, carnivore and tiger prawn. Both were excellent! My wife had the salad and was very good. We finished with the desert pizza, that was unbelievable!

Their food is amazing. This is by far the best place to eat in Geneseo. Order their fungi pizza and Mahi tacos. They serve beer and beer inspired mixed drinks. They also allow customers to bring their own bottle of wine to enjoy(there is a corkage fee).

First time out and tried quite a few things… The beer was great! Very consistent! Also had the gastro burger so good and tried the pizza that was good as well. Super simple one page menu. Great beer options ! Also family friendly! The only thing I could say I wanted more of was eye contact and service from the bartenders. I was there long enough to see four or five bartenders the girl was great very polite and conversational but I forget her name but the other four dudes always had their heads down and weren’t to into answering questions on food and beer or noticing when we needed refills etc. eyes up! And the busser was the most polite person Ive ever met this past Sunday! Otherwise great place will recommend to all and definitely return!
