The windmill is a unique historical sight in Geneva, and a cool spot to check out if you’re visiting. There’s a parking lot next to it, and you can’t miss the entrance if you’re driving down the road(it’s the turn with the big windmill). We used to go on field trips here every year, but it’s been awhile since I was in elementary school so I’m not sure if they still go. Our big fancy windmill was originally located in Lombard, but was moved to the Fabyan property in 1914 because who wants to live in Lombard? Not even a windmill. It was built by a German craftsman in the 1850s-60s, and is now one of the best examples of an authentic Dutch windmill in the US. If you’re into authentic Dutch windmills — watch out! You’re in for a treat. You can also take tours of the inside of the windmill in the spring and summer for a small donation, and learn some great information about its history and uses. Otherwise, it’s a great spot to stop and take photos, walk around the park area, or feed the ducks and geese by the river. A cool little windmill near a preserve/park area. Nothing you should go out of your way to see, but if you have ten minutes to kill, go knock yourself out.
