Shoney’s Family Restaurants

Visiting family for the holiday… haven’t been to a Shoney’s in over 12yrs.m.of course bae has never been to a Shoney’s. Yesterday we had an early lunch and It was ok. The selection at this location is very small in comparison to other locations I’ve been to. Them again it’s been a while for me. Today we are here for breakfast and I am very impressed.
We arrived at 8:45 am. I was worried at first because it was not crowded… but and the food was steaming.
They actually had breakfast Potatoes with the onions on the side. Bacon and sausage were fully cooked. French toast, french toast sticks, mini waffles and pancakes were all fresh and hot. They had hot cinnamon apples and a hot banana compote as toppings as well as a nice variety of cold fruit. Real scrambled eggs, not that liquid egg stuff. Icing on the cake… HOT MELTED BUTTER!!!
A very small variety but a very good variety. My only complaint is drinks are not included.
Bae enjoyed it too.

Food was good, waitress did a good job. Bad part of the visit is the management (cashier) informed me that this Shoney’s does not honor veterans. She said there was no reason for honoring them.

Food good, server great. Will come back.

This shoneys has the best eggs for breakfast bar in any in vA or nc… service was okay… but breakfast definitely very good nice new looking building.

This shoney’s was better than average I was pleasantly surprised. We went for breakfast, the Buffet was hot and fresh the service was great our waitress was Kelly she did a great job. The chicken was very good. I’d recommend it if you have time to enjoy a buffet.

I stopped here with a friend during our cross-​country roadtrip. Admittedly when you’ve been sleeping on pull-​out couche/​floorss, eating pretzels, chips, and stale bagels for almost a week ANYTHING will taste good, but wow. We were both blown away by the food at Shoney’s — and SHOCKED to find out it was part of a chain (We’re both originally from NY, where Shoney’s does not exist.)
She had the baked spaghetti and loved it (I tried it too — yep, it was good!)
I was having some serious protein cravings and kept it simple with a burger and a baked potato loaded with cheese, but… that may have been the best baked potato I’ve ever eaten. Wow. The burger was great too, tender, juicy and cooked to order (I’m a medium rare girl and not all places accommodate that.)
The server was super friendly, we were in pretty late while they were getting ready to close but they didn’t rush us at all and kept tabs on whether or not we needed anything without being overbearing…
Now I’m living in California which ALSO does not have Shoney’s and I miss it! Tough luck… Hopefully they end up out here: P

This is a really nice Shoney’s. Always clean, the breakfast /​lunch bar is kept stocked. Service is fast and friendly. If you have ‘any’ complaint with your food, or anything else, they are «johnny-​on-​the-​spot» to fix it … at least they have been with us. (I am unusually fussy about overhead music, but this particular restaurant is not a problem ~ it’s in a «nice» neighborhood :) Parking is not a problem, interstate (I-​95 and I-​295) is close by, so off and on is easy for a quick break. There are a couple of hotels nearby also. Shoney’s is in front of a major shopping mall, ladies … ahem ahem !! … actually between the mall and Target on the other side of the street (Brook Road). … Good Food, Good Service, Great Location … Can’t Lose by Stopping Here.
Be sure to get a slice of Strawberry Pie or Hot Fudge Cake. really the MAIN reason for eating at Shoney’s !!
