This is one of the best donut shops in the area. I think that they are still family owned and operated but I could be wrong. They usually have a good selection of you get there at a good time. If you get there late in the day, the selection will be bad. The donuts are constantly DELICIOUS. I much rather eat these than Dunkin any time.

A co-worker brought donuts from here to work. They were really good so I went here myself with my wife. The donuts were ok but the selection was terrible. They also sell odd things here besides donuts. There are better options out there.

John’s Donut and Ice Cream shop is a tiny little place situation in a strip mall off of Bloomingdale Road in Glendale Heights. Having tried a few other somewhat nearby independently run Donut places and having found their donuts to be substantially better than the giant chain that is Dunkin Donuts, I figured it would be a good idea to stop into John’s and give it a try. The first thing to note is that John’s is very tiny. There’s one small counter, a cooler and a random display case with merchandise in it. Behind the small counter is donuts, I asked for some recommendations and picked up a dozen donuts for my co-workers and headed off to my office. The general impression on the donuts was mixed. A few people complained they weren’t as soft and fluffy as they’re used to. They generally were favored over trips to Duncan, but they weren’t as happily received as donuts from some of the other independent donut hole in the wall places I’ve hit before as well. This was my only visit to John’s and I might visit again at some point in the future. While it’s definitely a better place to pick up a dozen at than your local Dunkin, I donut(get it) recommend it over County Donuts in Schaumburg or Sweet Mornings in Carol Stream. I’ll give it three stars and rate Johns Donut Shop as A-Ok.

Went there on a Saturday evening and received good service. Both ice cream and doughnuts were good. This place is however definitely a hole in the wall. Could use some upkeep and cleaning.

I have only been going to this place for 2 weeks now about three times a week. Two times I have showed up between 10am-12am and they have had their doors locked with their OPEN sign on. Perhaps, being a small business, they break for lunch around that time but that does not distract from the fact that they should have some signage indicating why the doors are locked and when they plan to reopen. Not good business practices. Their donuts are great and the people are nice but its hard to get dozens of donuts a week if they dont allow their customer in the door.

I have been living here for years and I strongly disagree. This little donut shop has a fantastic quality products. One of the best donuts around!!!

Had a coupon… Friendly nice Indian man/owner working there. Shopped at 8 am, donuts seemed day old or stale. Good selection. OK tasting– just not fresh, barely any filling. Would not buy donuts again from there.

Ever since Dunkin Donuts’s coffee quality disintegrated, I’ve turned to independently owned donut shops. This was the closet one I found close to home and their coffee is actually decent! Their donuts are pretty good, too, but nothing to scream about. The staff is friendly and helpful. The shop doesn’t look like much, but I’m not there for the scenery(to go please). This is where I go for my coffee and donuts when I’m in town(even though DD is 10 minutes closer).

If you’re looking for a prime example of what it is to pay someone to both give you an inferior product AND demonstrate bottom of the barrel customer service, you need only make your way to Johns Donut Shop. Cardboard slathered in motor oil would taste better than what they sell here. The bright side is that you’ll get a great workout opening up the spring loaded front door. Just be careful it doesn’t swing back and take out a limb.
