Been here a couple of times now and loved it. This review is for my visit last night. Ordered king crab legs and crawfish. I can taste that they have been frozen. I think that they should have informed is that these have been frozen and sold it at a lower price. Boiling Crab makes this disclosure, why shouldn’t Crab Boil? It was a bit underwhelming and disappointing, having that«frozen» taste in your mouth :/I would come back but would never order crab legs and crawfish again.

This restaurant is similar to Boiling Crabs. Went here couple of times with friends and coworkers. Got here around 6pm no line, got seated STAT. We ordered shrimp and clam, sausage mixed with Cajun sauce, I would say the Cajun sauce taste the same in boiling crabs, that’s good! Other good stuff grilled mix veggie. Yumm! The disappointing part their calamari, calamari looks like an onions rings from Burger King. I wouldn’t recommend getting the calamari, just go to grocery store and buy the frozen calamari taste the same and cheaper. Overall I like this place. Good thing they have this in my area don’t have to go all the way to Alhambra or Ktown and be in line for 2hours when I can just go here, 10−15mins drive and no line! Also they have more food selection. Great costumer service.

Went on a Sunday evening for a family birthday; no wait for five of us. The place started filling up decently as time went on. Waiter(wish I could remember his name) was helpful with feedback given it was our first time and he was patient with all our questions. Clam chowder to start– just the right consistency and richness and chock full of clams and a good amount of potatoes. My parents couldn’t get enough! Half a dozen oysters– also good. We ordered two pounds of shrimp and a pound of clams; potatoes and corn in each bag; and one order of king crab legs(two giant, meaty legs), and a separate entrée for my sister– we were STUFFED. I was worried because of some of the reviews I’ve seen on here but we had absolutely no problems with quantity or quality. The shrimp just took some time to get used to peeling, which is half the fun/experience of it all anyway. The clams also came right off the shells and were so meaty and fresh. And I couldn’t believe the total bill at the end. I was expecting way more damage and would have happily paid more for the quality of the food and the service. Waters constantly filled, extra gloves brought no problem. No fuss when we asked if we could clear the table and have another sheet of butcher paper laid out to cut a cake we brought in– they even offered plates. Thanks for a great family dinner Crab Boil Ave!

I’ve visited Crab Boil Ave four times now. It pains me to leave a bad review for this place! While the food is absolutely delicious, my last few visits have left a bad taste in my mouth(pun intended). The customer service was a disaster! I went on a Sunday morning for brunch. We ordered 2 Crab & Shrimp Omelets. The waitress took our order, however, we noticed she never wrote anything down. A few minutes later our food comes out and it’s a sausage omelet instead of the Crab & Shrimp omelets that we ordered. We bring it to the staffs attention and the waitress comes back and says, «Oh I thought you said Sausage omelet. Are you sure?» We insisted that we wanted the order that we asked for and she took the food back to the kitchen. When she gets to the kitchen we can hear her conversation with the cook crystal clear because the doors are open. She proceeds to tell the cooks«they say they want Crab & Shrimp but they told me sausage.» My fiancé and I are both dumbfounded and can’t believe she just tried to blame us for the mistake she made. To make matters even worse, the cook shouts back at her«how do they even know it’s sausage?! They didn’t even try it!» 1) We could clearly see the bits of sausage all over our plates. 2) What happened to «The customer is always right?» 3) If you’re gonna talk about your customers behind their backs, at least have the decency to do it where they can’t hear you. I’ve never been so disrespected in a restaurant! We spoke with the manager and decided to leave.

I was indifferent about this place because I’ve been to similar places of the-like(SGV, hello!!) and I wasn’t a fan. We decided to give it a go anyway because unlike the more well-known places in the SGV, this place had no line and a 5-minute at minimum for the wait. If it does get busy, there’s a little game room on the side for entertainment. Now the important stuff– Yes, the seafood items were surprisingly very, very fresh and their Cajun mix seasoning was not at all overpowering that you don’t taste the shellfish. One great thing about this place was that they had lunch specials, and other«clean» items, like sandwiches, burgers, and fries(great for people like us who need to head back to work and did not plan on getting messy). One of my friends got a white fish sandwich and she was telling me how she looooooooooved it. They also have a wide selection of seafood brunch menu, which we were really intrigued about, along with desserts and drinks. Desserts and drinks!!! Wheeeeeeeeeee… Fun and friendly atmosphere. Great service. Welcoming and attentive. If it wasn’t for our messy hands, we probably would have taken some photos. Next time when we come back for brunch. Wheeeeeeeeeee…

New favorite spot for brunch — for tastiness of meal, ambience, and service. Gluten-free options include: build your own omelette and cheesy grits(tasty!) For diners not on a gluten-free diet: * crab Benedict features crab meat and perfectly toasted English muffin as well as perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise that compliments the crab meat

I’m mixed about this place. I came here twice and the first time I got 1 lb. shrimp and 1 lb. crawfish with Cajun Garlic Butter and 2 corns($ 27). More than ½ of my shrimp texture were powdery or gummy. Fresh shrimp should have a «snap» when you bite into it. So I only ate a few pieces of the shrimp. The flavor was great, I would have loved to dip bread into the sauce and just eat that as my meal. The crawfish was good, decent size. The second time I went, I got the dozen Chicken Wings(cajun style) plate, it usually comes with fries and cole slaw but I got steamed vegetables to substitute the coleslaw and it came out to be($ 16). The steamed vegetables were boiled with a lot of salt so it was very salty. The wings were awesome! Crispy with tons of flavor and they were decent size. Next time I’ll just get the ½ dozen wings appetizer for just $ 6.45. I’ll probably go back again to try the shrimp and crawfish but if I get gummy or powdery shrimp, I might just stick with their chicken wings and crawfish.

My fifth time picking up to go in 2 weeks… food is good, flavor is good, and not too over powering. Customer service is ok but it depends on who you speak to. My friend owns cracking crab in montrose and there is another cajun crab place 1 mile away from my house but i like going to this place so i drove 6 miles to pick up 1lb shrimps(it is not that big of difference but i am a loyal customer and i appreciate good food) but tonight, everything has changed! I got 1lbs of shrimps again like usual, it was literally 13 little shrimps … I dont think 13 Shrimps equals = 1lb. I have had so many boiling cajun seafood, i know what i got was not right. More, i understand i called 15 min before closing time but flavor was totally off. I asked for mild like always but what i got was super spicy instead. I am angry this is how they treat a loyal customer who is willing to drive 6 miles for 1lb of ahrimp at 10 pm on weekdays when i can go to another boiling crab place which is only a mile way from. I feel so cheated and i m disappointed that i was happy to find this place I was so upset i had to call the restaurant when i really wanted to just chill and rest. I spoke to manager and he wanted to give me a refund… I refused to get a refund because that wasnt the purpose of the call and now looking back, he tried to do what was right and i appreciate it but im still not over it. I guess im too sensitive. im disappointed that they had to disappoint me enough to leave a bad review. If i had to review this place before tonight, I would have reviewed them way higher. Not happy !! Sorry for being so brutal since i know how difficult it is to satisfy all customers at all times, but please dont let this happen again.

Came for a late evening dinner with my husband and as usual, we were met with friendly staff and a nice comforting meal. Dylan was our server tonight and he was as nice as they come over there. Had the Cajun trout and Cajun catfish dinner with an order of the whole shrimp we shared… Cajun style of course. That sauce the shrimp is bathing in is sooo good. We took home what we couldn’t finish eating and I’m looking forward to putting the sauce from the shrimp tonight on top of hot steamed rice tomorrow. Tip: my husband said he made an omelette one morning with the leftover sauce from the shrimp once and said it was amazing.

Move over Boiling Crab! I’ve found my new place. It’s everything you love about boiling crab except gloves, plates, metal utensils, easy peel shrimp, and no lines! Also, the crab is to die for. Very fresh, naturally buttery, and easy enough to take apart! We also tried the sweet potato fries, which were addicting. For dessert we had the molten fudge cake and the sweet potato pumpkin tart. The molten fudge was so chocolatey and wonderful. The sweet potato pumpkin tart really tasted like fall on a plate. I have seriously been converted. I will definitely be coming back.

Back again! Our last server, our Last Writer(Filipino waiter) is here and he is great again. I finally got his name. It’s IAN. Today we do the king crab and not the snow crab and the oyster . Brought our parents and having a blast :-)

My favorite is the lunch special Grilled Chicken Sandwich! The Cajun fries are extremely addicting! But for dinner I love getting the tray of Shrimp, King Crab and Lobster with the Cajun mix seasoning. My family and I always come and order trays for the whole table to share. We always end the night with the delicious molten chocolate cake. I’ve had Arielle and Aaron as my servers almost every time I go. They are extremely friendly, they know what they’re doing, and because they’re young, they are very attentive. I even heard some of my favorite songs playing! they place some tropical house music and I love it! I also found their Instagram and their photos are just as good as the food tastes. Go check them out:

I’m between 2 and 3 stars on this one. I’ve done Boiling Crab a bunch, but my favorite shrimp/crab place is Cracking Crab in Montrose. I decided to give this place a try because I’ve heard good things. I did take-out and when I called to make my order, the guy on the phone was a little disoriented. I guess he had someone else he was speaking with in person, but he kept switching back and forth between the two of us and never completing his sentences. I would’ve been fine had he asked me to hold, finished what he had going on, then returning to me. Or vice versa, taken my 1 minute order and returned to his other customer. Then he kept telling me he had to call me back, but never saying why, and pausing for a long while then saying something else. Apparently, he needed to call me back to give me my official total since I ordered the Dungeness crab and he didn’t know how much it weighed yet. He should’ve just said that instead of constantly saying he had to call me back without any explanation. I ordered a pound of the shrimp and Dungeness crab both in the Cajun Mix sauce. The sauce was pretty good. Not the best I’ve had, but still good. The shrimps are a little smaller than I’m used to, but I can live with that. The Dungeness crab was not tasty at all for being cooked in that sauce. The meat tasted bland like boiled water. I felt a little cheated considering I paid about $ 45 for it. It was worth a try, but I’ll probably stick to my original place.

The service is great, they deserve 5 stars. The food? Not so much. I got a pound of crawfish and it was mushy and not as flavorful as Boiling Crab. It was nice to not have to wait in line or anything since everyone goes to Boiling Crab, but it makes sense once you try the food here. Plus, it takes longer for the food to come out and the prices are higher here. They use nice, thick clear bags to serve the food whereas Boiling Crab uses thin ones you could rip apart… maybe they could invest less in that and more into their food or lowering prices lol

Meh. This isn’t Boiling Crab status, that’s for sure. I was duped by the good reviews. Let’s see… what DID I like? — Baseball was on — Service was great — Our beers were cold Am I being mean? No, not really. The oysters were a little too gritty. Chicken wings were tiny. Our Cajun shrimp platter was decent but when my dining companion told me his favorite bite off the plate was the vegetables, I knew it was bad. We nicknamed it Chili’s and that’s pretty much what you get here — chain food quality. But hey… at least there was no wait! Hahah. PASS.

I am baffled that none of the other reviews on this restaurant have mentioned the obscene waste of plastic that is used at this establishment. I took my parents to eat here on Sunday, so there were a total of 3 people at our table. We ordered water(not to go) and were served 3 waters in 3 plastic cups with 3 plastic lids. My father and I ordered the crab and my mother ordered the tilapia. The server brought us 6 lemon wedges divided into 3 plastic bags. Both crab orders were served in gallon+ sized plastic bags. The server brought us a chuck bucket for shells which also came lined with a gallon+ sized plastic bag. A serving of garlic salt was given to each of us in a disposable, plastic ramekin. I asked the server if she realized how much plastic was being wasted and she told me that it makes it easier for them to clean. WTF? The food was average at best. Nothing to complain about. This location is a restaurant graveyard. Nothing has succeeded in this location for 20+ years. I cannot wait until This restaurant shuts its doors. It will be good for the environment and for humanity in general. It petrifies me that this kind of waste can occur without anyone speaking up.

We had a craving for Boiling Crab but didn’t want to drive and wait over an hour, so we headed to Crab Boil Ave instead. Although the parking lot was almost full, there was no wait inside thanks to the spacious interior(including an upstairs!) of the restaurant. We tried both the regular shrimp and the easy peel. The regular shrimp had a better texture(more firm), but the easy peel were, as promised, easy to peel, which is a big plus for me. I didn’t really care for the mussels, but I might try the clams next time. Their«Crab Boil Ave Mix» sauce(which I’m taking is their Boiling Crab«Whole Shabang» equivalent) doesn’t taste exactly the same, but it’s tasty in its own way. We added potatoes and corn, both of which were a delicious complement to the seafood. Service was attentive and prices were decent. We’re already planning to go back soon!
