Great selection of fashionable outdoor wear. I had been looking forward to visiting this store for quite a while. Found some convertible pants I wanted to try on so I went to the front desk to ask for a fitting room. The bearded man at the register(employee 460 on the receipt) walked me to the room. Before letting me in he looked me up and down and asked to hang on to a shopping bag from another store I had walked in with. As he walked away he checked the contents of the bag probably to make sure I hadn’t stashed anything away. Being a dark skinned Latino and because of the location I assume he doesn’t see too many people who look like me walking into their store. The pants fit so I went to pay at the register. When he returned my bag he made a remark about how I could have stolen a part of the pants. He asked for my ID when paying with a debit card and gave me a hard couple of glances before returning it to me. It was off putting. I figured he was following protocol, but decided to wait around to see if he ID’ed the next couple of customers who paid with a card. He did not.

Good selection of clothes and gear. This is not the place to go if you are looking answers and advice on the technical aspects of their gear. The staff looks more«outdoorsy,» but sadly their technical knowledge of their wares is substantially lacking. If you are looking for winter coats that look outdoorsy, but will never be worn in the backcountry, then this is your store. If you need answers as to how your gear will perform, I recommend REI or Clearwater. Both of these stores have similar selections, but their staff is immediately knowledgeable about the products, or they have other staff members to turn to for assistance. Erewhon’s staff might as well be working at Banana Republic or J Crew(no offense Banana Republic and J. Crew), as their expertise trends more towards fashion and not the wilderness.

What was meant to be a casual stop turned into $ 300 on the credit later! That is the downside of being high-end REI type of store but its quality products! Bought a really nice pair of hiking boots, gloves on clearance(still pricey but worth it!) and a few Columbia tops I couldn’t live without. Helpful staff and nice layout(smaller than REI) which makes it more intimate. It’s right on the corner of this outdoor mall area and it’s near impossible to ever find«free» parking!

This place is great competition to places like REI. I find that things are best bought here between seasons when they’re clearancing their wares. If you don’t want to go to REI, go here instead. I was able to buy a Dale of Norway sweater here on sale for my gal for under $ 150. She found some Keen boots for $ 50 or less. I don’t care for expensive prices, but am willing to buy some really nice items occasionally.

A high-end store employing community concious people who are extremely knowledgeable about the outdoors and outdoor activities. There are pretentious alternatives but you have to be willing to pay up to $ 20.00 more for the same items.

My husband and I stumbled upon Erehwon while wandering around bayshore Shopping Center one night before viewing a movie at the iPic. I found it REI quality but at slightly more affordable prices. Each time we have been there it has been hard to walk away without doing damage to the checkbook. They have a great clothing section. They carry all the name brands(Northface, Columbia, etc…) and can find great name brand items on the sale racks. It did take us a while to figure out what Erehon meant — Nowhere backwards.

I have to admit I had no idea what this store was until I stumbled upon it with my wife a couple weekends ago. It has an affordable REI feel to it. Whole store was 20% off and a one time $ 25 gets you an additional 10% off. With our first purchase we paid for the lifetime membership. Next time your on the lookout for an outdoors store, I would give them a shot.
