Sears Optical

It was a year ago when I bought my pairs of glasses, 2 for 1 btw, everyone at Glendale Sears was wonderful, with quick help finding the frames I wanted to receiving them back finished. Well today I must have bent the arm of my main glasses, so I called Sears, and brought my glasses in, still luckily covered, and I will have a new pair without anymore worry. Thank You Glendale Sears Optical, You’re GREAT!

My spouse and I have been going to Sears for at least the last 5 years. It is always very pleasant Claudia and the rest of the team selling glasses are great. Dr. Erin is always very thorough and patient. Prior to Sears we went to Costco for glasses for years, but it was always such a zoo there. So, we finally found Sears Optical and it been very pleased. Yes the prices might be a tad more than a place like Walmart or Costco, but quality of the service and the quality of their product have proven themselves for us for years. So we would highly recommend if you need glasses or contacts to go to Sears Optical in Glendale.

I have used Sears Optical in Glendale for the last six years for eye exams, contact lens fitting, and prescription glasses. I have always been pleased with the service, the staff, the selection, and particularly the sales. I have always gotten thorough exams with all my questions answered, all my issues addressed. The staff are always helpful in getting me the best deal (although currently insured, that was not always the case) and making me look good. And I have never had any problems with the glasses I ordered through them — no wrong prescriptions, scratched lenses, cracked frames. My experience with Sears Optical has always been positive — agreeable and affordable!

been to this place twice to get my eyes checked. just came in today for a follow up after 2 ½ years because my dog chewed up my glasses –_​– and both times I’ve had good service. staff are very friendly and informative. Dr. Erin spends a lot of time making sure you get the right prescription that’s comfortable for you. they always have deals on glasses/​frames as well. just got a new prescription today (if you have a ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision I hate you). I got a year supply contact lenses and ordered a new pair of glasses that are ray bans for about $ 260ish all together including the exam. not sure if that’s pricy but I thought hey, I NEED to see, so it is what it is, and ray bans glasses and contacts are expensive in general.

We decided to give Sears Optical a try since they adverted a 2 for $ 99 deal. It was a complete joke. The representative said the offer only included frames $ 69.99 and under. Huh? You can barely find frames anywhere at that price. There were only four such pairs in the whole store. The advertised offer should have stated that in the first place. Instead you don’t find that out until you go there. Can you say «bait and switch»? I’m thinking of filing a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs.
There was only one employee there. She was tied up with another customer for quite a while leaving us and a few other people completely unserved. I sent a feedback on Sears’ website. A week later I got a totally lame form reply. Overall, it was an entirely unacceptable experience. This was especially below Sears’ usual excellent level of service.
These eyeglass retailers are as bad as used car dealers. Next time I’ll try buying online. One interesting online discount eyeglass provider I found is–

When it comes to buy lenses and frames, experiences differ from person to person.
For a long time, I wanted to change my glasses. One day, since I was already shopping at Sears, I decided to give it a shot.
My experience? Not so good. First off, as I approached the main desk, I was greeted with a smile. Not bad, I thought.
However, after the first few minutes, I figured I did not make the right choice: not only the lady could not answer simple insurance questions, but her attitude towards my request to find out more was like… to find out myself.
Thank goodness, her colleague (?) decided to chime in, suggesting that she should have made a couple of phone calls to find out more about my situation. All I wanted to know was how much my insurance would cover lenses+frame.
Picking the right frame was quick enough for me. I wish that was the same for the person who helped me out, who looked busier trying to sell me contact lenses which I did not want, PLUS new glasses. But… oh wait! I could save more if i buy both right? How foolish of me… but wait a minute. I came here for glasses, that’s it.
Besides the feeling of being scammed, I felt that the level of laziness shown by the Sears Optical associates was beyond my patience. Regardless of their knowledge about their products, I felt like everyone was misinformed, lazy, or just having a bad day.
I would definitely NOT recommend Sears Optical, even if you are desperate and with loads of myopia (like me?). It felt more like 99 Cents Store Optical.
Bottom line: go to a true, professional shop.

dr H performs a very thorough eye exam

Dr. Bruce is totally awesome. He’s a graduate of Berkeley, he’s smart, sweet, and lets you know exactly what he’s testing during every little exam. I’ve never had an optometrist who does that. He’s so thorough that I couldn’t believe how low cost the whole thing was. I got the contacts and glasses exam. $ 120. Great!
