Sur La Table

This location has a great corner spot which gives it plenty of foot traffic for people either shopping with purpose, or just killing time while waiting for their name to be called at one of the surrounding restaurants. Because of this, this location feels to be continuously more crowded than other Sur La Table locations.
However, they seem to have not only a great selection, but a better sale & clearance selection than other locations. My wife and I usually come here shortly after a holiday has passed for great prices on holiday decorations.
Customer service is also very good here. I just wish the lines would move a little faster.

Sur La Table is my favorite over Williams Sonoma. They tend to have more real cooking tools and less the best and/​or most expensive of each item possible. The staff is always helpful. Parking is a bit of a pain at this location, so it’s hard to buy a lot in one trip.

I don’t visit Sur La Table very often and when I do, it’s usually their Pasadena location for small items. I recently stopped in for a gift for my boyfriend to avoid shipping from Amazon. They also had the item I needed at a lower price than Amazon. I called and asked them to hold the item for me and quickly dropped in the next day. Their holiday ornaments were 50% off so I decided to pick up a small cheese grater for our tree.
I also like being able to check their inventory online ahead of time, so I won’t waste a drive somewhere if the item I’m looking for isn’t there. Although, with a store like Sur La Table there will always be something you’ll want to leave with.

I never actually need anything from here, but it’s so fun to look at all of the fun culinary tools. I always find something on sale too (and then I buy it).
Today while walking by and not needing anything I found the very last Soda Stream Genesis that was marked down by $ 29 and it had an additional 10% off for Labor Day weekend deals. Sold! Wrap it up and I’m taking it home.
The associates are also very helpful. I recently managed a retail store and I can say that these ladies would have made me so happy if they worked with me. They greet the customers, answer questions, point out additional savings and attempt to sell more at the register. Haha! I don’t mind. Most of the time it is a necessary accessory for what I’ve bought. It helps because they know the products, functions and add-​one, I don’t.
I will definitely continue to make this location my go to for items that I don’t need, but just have to have.

This place can be a little pricey but they have the cutest tools to use in the kitchen. So every now and then I treat myself. Staff is always helpful and pleasant, and the demos they have are very helpful.

I wish I could give Sur La Table 5 stars, but their prices are a bit steep which keeps me from exclusively shopping here. I do love this store though. This location at the Americana feels a bit small to me, but the customer service is top notch! I have had awesome experiences with staff answering my questions, making suggestions, and helping me find products that I’m looking for.
This past Christmas, I was extremely romantic and bought my wife a new waffle iron. (Yep, that’s what 9 years of marriage produces!) I looked in most of the stores at the Galleria that offered them. No one offered to help me in any of the stores, and the selection wasn’t what I wanted. I walked over to the Americana and I didn’t even get to the back of the store where they have the waffle irons before staff asked if I needed help. I did! I don’t know much about waffle irons, but I had been to Belgium last year and the waffles were so good, I really wanted to up the ante when our waffle iron and get one that would cook better than the cheap-​o Mervyn’s one I bought before we got married. There were many to choose from and some of them were the price of a used car! I wanted something small that could tuck away in our cupboard so those fancy flip-​while-​you-​make versions weren’t going to do it for me.
I finally settled on one and of course, they didn’t have them in stock anymore but I could have the floor model. Oh, the box was also missing. So, I looked over the floor model, noted that there was some sticky stuff on it, and because they didn’t have the box as well, BOOM. Discounted. A nice discount too. In fact, it was actually discounted below my budget. 3 cheers for Sur La Table! The wife LOVES it even though I’ve used it more frequently than she has.
A few more bits of info: If you haven’t been to the Americana, it’s a bit of a walk from the parking structure to the store which is on the outskirts of the Americana. It’s a nice walk through the shopping complex so if you are planning to buy something heavy, be aware. Parking is free for the first hour or 90 minutes.

Was welcomed and offered assistance as soon as I walked in. Browsed and picked things up. The lady at the counter held everything for me. When I was ready, she carefully wrapped and double bagged for me. Clean store, nice flow, pricing visible. Helpful associate. I had a nice time in your store. Bought several things for my kitchen. I buy more when the store is clean and the associates polite.

Like a Williams Sonoma, but even better. Yes. The employees here are all over the store and they are ready to help. Immediately after coming in, they welcomed us and then asked if we were looking for anything. After saying no, we walked around and then my mom then had an idea to look for a pan. The employee then came over and stayed with us until we got what we wanted. Sur La Table goes above and beyond to help out those who need it. And did I mention they have a coffee machine that gives out free coffee? Amazing! They have a clearance section. What interested me was the convection oven steamer (see below). I had never seen one before but wow. Interesting. Located on the corner of Carusco and Brand, if I remember correctly haha.

I can get lost in here. Such great finds! However, I do feel the layout of the place could be less chaotic. There always seems to be a lot going on in there. Prices are a bit steep, but that’s expected. There always seems to be sales too.

In its own way, Sur Le Table has been at the beginning of my quest in becoming a chef: in 1998, I strolled into the Pasadena store, tired of using hand-​me-​downs, my mom’s old cleaver, and so was determined to leave with a chef’s knife. MY own personal chef’s knife. I recall the patient customer service that Sur Le Table provided, as I tried and tested a variety of knives on poor, unsuspecting potatoes that their knife rep provided. Blades may look «cool» but I can’t tell how it fits my hand until I actually do a test run (I did in fact, leave with a Wusthof santoku, and that knife is still with me).
Fast forward to the completion of my culinary school education: I enroll in Sur Le Table’s culinary professional program to earn a discount with every purchase, and I decide to reward my academic efforts with… you guessed it: a chef’s knife. Again, I handle a variety of knives, test-​driving them on poor, unsuspecting vegetables, and decide upon a Shun 7″ Asian Chef’s knife
– it handles like a dream, and fits my hand and build perfectly.
Unfortunately, a year later, a dishwasher who happened to be admiring my knife, accidentally drops it, tip down, and this causes a slight chip. My blade never feels quite the same, and my mincing is a bit «off». On the off chance, I take my knife back into Sur Le Table, and explain the situation. To my surprise, their customer service is swift: Nicole offers to sharpen the blade, and if, upon that failing to please me, they would do a credit swap (!). It sounded too good to be true, so I go for it, and lo and behold, a week or so later, a brand new Shun replacement arrives to my doorstep. To use this new version feels like reconnecting with a dear old sharp and sturdy friend, and I am very pleased.
This last week, I bought an amazing Bob Kramer 3″ paring knife
with a carbon steel blade. This knife is simply a pleasure to use, and offered the least amount of drag through cutting — I had to get it! During its first use, the blade corrupts and starts rusting, in spite of my careful handling and hand washing. I endure this weirdness for a week (due to a crazy intense work schedule), and promptly return back to Sur Le Table on my next day off. Again, their customer service is impeccable: after trying to remove the rust (which turns out to be a difficult process), they immediately replace my blade with another Bob Cramer 3″ paring knife… this time in stainless steel. It performs just as beautifully, and I am none the happier.
Big ups to Sur Le Table for their amazing customer service. You’ve got my business for life!

I love this place and my usual store is Pasadena. I needed something and went in and the staff couldn’t even be bothered to say hello and kept talking amongst there-​selves.
I live in Glendale and work in Pasadena and I give Pasadena 5 star worthy of service.
Note to Glendale; everyone walking through the doors are potential paying clients, it wouldn’t hurt you to be kind and make customers feel welcomed.
I’m super sensitive to retail service, i will give it another try and hope it was just that evenings staff.

This particular Sur la Table always has what I am looking for. Totally & fully stocked. You get what you pay for & their quality is incomparable. I love how the workers always greet you when you come in & offer to help you look for something. Their suggestions are always helpful for my millions of questions I tend to ask me being so indecisive as I am.

Remember that episode of «Friends» where Chandler tries to quit the gym? Or really, remember that time when ANYONE tries to quit the gym? In some ways, I get a similar sinking feeling whenever I’m about to walk into Sur La Table*.
I say this because I know that deep down I do not need a self-​cooking pizza pan, nor a 12-​way citrus grater-​meets-​reamer-​meets-​peeler-​meets-​juicer, nor least of all, an electronic can opener that has a synced smartphone app as well**. Several Benjamins later, however, and I can imagine people are skipping out the door convinced that if Ina Garten can do it, well so can they. Because now they’re equipped with measuring cups adorable enough to double as home decoration, an ice cream maker that costs more than their mortgage, and a macaron ornament for their mother-​in-​law because they forgot to buy her a Christmas present.
Zero buyer’s remorse. ZERO.
I always love coming into any of the Sur La Table stores because there are always new products to ooh and ahh over but the real tried and true staples are always there, from baking to grilling, to chopping, to slicing and dicing. The store is bursting at the seams with gizmos and gadgets to tighten up your culinary prowess, though it never seems cluttered. This particular store had a small area that allows for classes and demonstrations.
*Can also be substituted with «Whole Foods,» «Lululemon,» «Toyota Prius Retailer,» etc. and/​or all of the above. You know the type.
**Products vary by store location.

Whenever I have a last minute baking order and need specialty supplies really late in the night time, Sur La Table has come through for me. They are open until 9pm at their Glendale location at The Americana at Brand (although I’m hoping that they’d be open until midnight, but that’s wishful thinking).
The products I would usually buy are cupcake wrappers, containers, cookbooks, baking tools, and edible candy garnishes. Aside from the baking equipment, they have other culinary items to fit your hobby from pizza making, grilling, to beer making. They feature unique items to add to any kitchen collection.
They even offer classes for cheese making and workshops on how to make a flaky croissants. Classes fill up fast, so don’t hesitate to register or you’ll end up on the wait list (like I did for their french macaron class, my friend on the other hand, lucked out and was able to take take their class).
There is validated parking for up to three hours and is only about a five minute drive from the freeway.

The fiancée and I have been in the market for a decent espresso machine to answer our painfully obvious coffee addiction. Some people just can’t get off the bean! But admitting you have a problem is the first step to…
… never mind, we bought the machine after spending just 15 minutes in the store.
Now these stores are a double-​edged sword. They offer A LOT of very useful and unique products for the betterment of your home life. They also have a lot of things no one ever really needs because… America. But darn it if their many gadgets aren’t inspiring and fun. You’ll learn a lot just walking through the store.
Staff really makes or breaks a shopping environment. I’m happy to report the staff here are incredibly knowledgeable about the items they sell, and they’re more than willing to assist you with any questions or needs.
We had the pleasure of meeting the store manager, Ben, while he was on the floor. Absolutely wonderful guy with a great personality and excellent customer service. He gave us both a run down of his personal experience with his espresso machine at home, and put all of our worries to rest about warranties and all the other not-​so-​fun parts of buying pricey kitchenware. He really took his time with us and made us feel like a million bucks. This kind of treatment is a true blessing in an increasingly disconnected retail world, and we walked out knowing we got a great deal from a fantastic company.
Yes, Sur La Table can be expensive up front on many things, but the store you purchase your goods from is almost more important than the products themselves. You need to know they’ll back their merchandise if things go sour, and that’s what you get with these guys. Many thanks again to Ben and his lovely crew.

I love Sur La Table. Always so much fun. The store inspires you. Not just to cook more, cook better, but to be cooler. And to part with your money. The store is so visually attractive, you think you better go rearrange and reorganize your kitchen. Spring cleaning.
The gadgets whisper come hither, and make great gifts. There’s a sales rack too which often offers wonderful bargains.
I wish they’d carry more slate cheese boards, a wider variety.

I love to cook, even though I’m not good at it. I like to envision myself like the pros you see on TV. I love the way they can chop a zucchini and nothing falls to the floor, that’s not me but I still love this store. I like to see if they have stuff that I can use on the grill or to make our kitchen lives a little bit better.
They have everything in there except an oven. I definitely have to go back and buy myself a pizza stone that goes in the oven. Need to perfect my pizza skills.

LOVE this store!!! This is one of the best stores for all you cooks and or bakers out there. I have to admit that it is a bit pricey, however they carry awesome items that can be worth the pretty penny.
This location is a bit on the small side, but it is stocked with the majority of your needs and wishes. Stop by and check it out, you will find something that you must have and probably can’t afford… not really, but maybe.
