We have a twenty year old son who attends college in the Glendora area. He has Hoshimotos and needed to see an Endocrinologist. He was referred to Dr Swe by another patient of hers. We have a PPO and the Dr required a referral from our sons doctor, any chart work concerning treatment of the Hoshimotos and previous labs concerning the same. As a parent I realized this was a lot to require for an initial appt, but when it comes to your children, you do what you need to do! Dr Swe has been proactive since our sons first appt. Dr Swe looked at his previous records, had a conversation with him, and told him the plan going forward. He was exhausted, having major mood swings, having a hard time focusing, and not eating the way he should. The doctor ordered blood work ASAP and called him personally a few days later.(what doctor calls their patients personally anymore?!) She told him that she had called in a higher dose of Levothyroxine and he was to start that. Dr Swe ordered that he have blood work done again within 90 days so she could check his levels and make sure he was improving. In Dec of this last year, he was doing very well, everything had balanced out and he was feeling good! Dr Swe ordered a scan of his thyroid. She called him the day after the scan and told him there was a small nodule on his thyroid, he needed to go have it biopsied. The nodule was so small it couldn’t be felt. The day after the biopsy, she called and told him he had Thyroid Cancer. She talked with him and told him if he would like to come in to the office and talk, she would sit with him.(Again! What doctor does this anymore?!) She told him she has an excellent surgeon(Dr S. Battaglia) that she would refer him to and she thought it best to take the entire thyroid out. Within one months time, he was scanned, biopsied, diagnosed, and had a Thyroidectomy. Dr Swe was there for evry phone call he made, every question he asked, and as an encouraging support thru the entire process. I have thanked The Lord many times for her, her knowledge and wisdom, her compassion, and her strength. Our son is now cancer free! He continues to see Dr Swe as they continue in trying to find the fine balance needed when one’s thyroid has been removed! I understand it can be quite a frustrating journey, but there’s no doubt in my mind that Dr Swe is up for the challenge!

I called to make an appointment and the lady who answered said the office does NOT accept patients who don’t have a Dr. referral. I explained that I have a PPO and I don’t need a referral, she said it doesn’t matter. Their office policy is that they don’t accept self referred patients. Oh and she kept reminding me that the next appointment available is in March, 2016. She REALLY doesn’t want any new patients. She wouldn’t even let me schedule the appointment for March unless I faxed my medical records and my referral. I told her«hmm maybe I don’t want to see this doctor» she said«okay! have a good day!» lol wow… customer service fail. Don’t even bother with this office.

My husband has had Type 2 Diabetes for 10 – 12 years. He kept it controlled quite well until his diagnosis with a severe form of prostate cancer. His treatment for it included about 45 rounds of radiation and Androgen Deprivation therapy(ADT), consisting of Lupron(shots) for three years, and oral Casodex(for a 6 months or so). These are powerful hormonal agents that knock the cancer back, though do not kill it. One unfortunate effect of these prostate cancer treatments is that they wreaked havoc on his blood sugar levels, which markedly increased. My husband had been under the care of our family Dr, who had juggled various diabetes pills, trying to figure out what combination would be best. She even considered insulin, but(fortunately) sent him to Dr. Swe, an Endocrinologist(a specialist in treating metabolic and related disorders). We wish hubby had been under Dr. Swe’s care years ago! She is a wonderfully caring person of great intelligence; and, under her care, my husband’s blood sugar, his A1c readings and other issues have gotten markedly better. He’s even managed to lose some weight and isn’t so sleepy. After managing him for a few months, she put him on insulin, which really made a big difference. He feels so much better, and in so many ways! If you are looking for a knowledgable, qualified endocrinologist who will help you manage your condition, and who is committed to your care, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Swe. FYI, Dr. Swe works for Healthcare Partners, in their new facility which is in the group of buildings at the northwest corner of Grand Ave., and Gladstone. What I do not know, is if she works directly for Healthcare Partners(HCP), or is independent doctor who is contacted with them. If your insurance is is partnered with HCP, you might be able to get an authorization to see her. If she’s independent, you may be able to make an appt. with her directly. Call the number to find out. Good luck!

Just met Dr. Swe, I was extremely impressed with her knowledge and compassion. She explained everything in great detail and really made me feel at easy. She took her time with me and did not try to rush me off. She answered all my questions and was very reassuring. I feel much better having her in my corner.

Straight forward and no nonsense. I always enjoy that type of demeanor. I came to see her about a defieciency in blood levels. She gave me my options and told me everything I needed to make an educated decision. I love this lady. wish all doctors were as simple and straight forward as her.

Dr. Swe is legit! I’ve only been seeing her for a few months now, but I am a complicated patient and she is very attentive. I don;t feel like just some patient to Dr. Swe, she has called me personally to talk to me about results and medication plans/changes which shows me that she cares about her patients. Her office staff is great, friendly, and efficient. The overall office experience is pleasant and that’s not always the case at the Dr.‘s office.
