Sweated a bit at the thought of getting an implant. But Dr. Ratliff was VERY personable, humorous, thorough and consistently competent (had several sessions with her). Their entire office staff is professional and great at helping patients feel at ease. Went back to my dentist for review when the procedures were completed and he noted that Dr. Ratliff’s work was very well done. A pleasant experience with a periodontist!!! Go figure. HIGHLY recommend her.

I had actually gone to see Dr. Ratliff’s colleague to get a root canal. When he was unable to complete the procedure and save my tooth, he explained that it had to be extracted and referred me to Dr. Ratliff. I was not expecting this outcome and was feeling very down.
Dr. Ratliff came in, looked at my tooth, and explained my options (bridge or dental implant). I immediately had a good feeling/​impression about her. She came across as competent and experienced, but also very friendly and caring. Once she started talking about how she could section my tooth to carefully preserve the bone for a dental implant, I knew I was in safe hands. After I chose the dental implant, she explained the procedure and even offered to extract my tooth the same day. I didn’t have time that day, but booked another appointment for two days later. I was frightened and nervous, but Dr. Ratliff and her assistant put me at ease. While we waited for the tooth to get numb, we chatted — I felt like I was having a conversation with girlfriends– and that helped relax and calm me down. The actual procedure was not nearly as bad as I had imagined in my mind’s eye. I felt no pain and it was over before I knew it! Dr. Ratliff gave detailed follow-​up instructions both verbally and in writing, and answered my many questions. My result was excellent — I had NO swelling or bruising. While there was some discomfort and mild pain that night, she had given me a prescription for pain medication, and I took that before bed and slept fine. She even called me the next day to see how I was doing.

I was very nervous going to see a periodontist for the first time. Dr. Ratliff and staff put me at ease from the moment I arrived. My appointment was met right on schedule. She explained the procedure and laid out the course of treatment of future treatment. She is truly gentle and compassionate. I am very pleased with the service I received and look forward to completing my gum restoration.
