My husband and I stopped in here for a couple of iced coffees to cool us off on a warm day in golden, CO. It is a very cute space with quite a bit of seating, including some larger tables for groups. The gentlemen who took our order worked quickly to make our iced coffees which had multiple steps. It was his last day, and he was still working hard. We had the gold digger and white chocolate one– we both preferred the white chocolate-but both were good. If I lived in the area I would probably come and work here to support this local business– definitely recommend.

Super cute place with a great relaxed fun atmosphere. Great menu and the best latte I have had in Colorado. The milk is so perfectly frothed! Love this little place. Wish there was something like it in Morrison !!

I think the Windy Saddle has nice atmosphere, especially when there’s live music and good coffee — but I haven’t been wowed by their food. The sandwiches are on the higher side because you don’t get a side with them unless you pay extra. I had the crispy croissant BLT and it was definitely flakey and good but too pricey for just that. My friend got a sandwich and a side of coleslaw. THECOLESLAWWASAWESOME! It’s more of a kale salad and it was so good. Not your typical saucy slaw. I’d probably choose other places to eat along the street over this one.(Like D’deli across the street a bit).

This place had terrible service. We stood in line for 30 minutes. We then had to wait another 30 minutes for our food, which was a scone, muffin, and cinnamon roll from the pastry shelves. Our coffees took forever as well and were messed up. The food was good, but it was not worth the wait. The people working were all very young and did not seem to have any reason to try to hurry to help their customers. We will not be returning.

The Rodeo Rueben was very good, the kraut was just right and the pastrami/corned beef was tender. The ‘swirled” pumpernickel bread was tasty. My wife got the«thunderbird» turkey Panini and loved it. All in all a great place for lunch after an ice cold Coors beer.

Hit or miss coffee joint, I would recommend avoiding peak hours. Personally I’ve had some fantastic drinks here, and the lemon bars/cinnamon rolls are just pure greatness. Then, there have been times where the place was crowded, and my drinks have been very subpar. Honestly, if you go early in the morning, or late in the afternoon, you’re probably going to have a great time, but just be wary that this café can become overcrowded, and when it does, the quality naturally drops. I like everyone who works here though, and if you’re like me,(way too cool for Starbucks), than this worth a visit, especially since it’s in such a beautiful town!

Nice little coffee, beer and wine shop tucked away downtown. Great variety of coffee and tea choices. Settings a bit limited, but if you can grab a table there’s wifi and plenty of board games to grab and hang out and play for a while!

Great little place, possible tourist trap, but with food and coffee so good, who cares. Great atmosphere and comfortable seating. During warmer months, it’s a nice area to sit outside and enjoy the coffee and people walking by. I have had the burritos and sandwiches and found them to be fresh and tasty.

Mad house. The wait wouldn’t be half as long if there were some competence in the kitchen. As I stood there with 2 – 4 other customers watching as the two«cooks» would throw something in a microwave and stand there and chat with each other undoubtedly about last night’s party or this afternoon’s hang sesh. There was no multitasking going on aside from those making the drinks… Who, by the way, were busting their butts. When they got to making my sandwich I was disgusted by what I saw. A burnt croissant taken from a toaster and sat and left on a counter for at least two or three minutes before one guy held out a bowl, the other guy sprayed it with oil and dumped eggs in it and then scrambled them with a fork. After which, the first guy threw the bowl in the microwave, nuked them for a minute, slapped them on my croissant and wrapped it. Something like 20 – 25 minutes for a sandwich I could have easily whipped together in 2 minutes myself. Unfortunately, I’ll say… As big a fan I use to be of Windy Saddle Café, I doubt I’ll return. Most customers waiting for their food were very visually irritated when I walked in and approaching a half hour later and observing of my own, waiting on my poorly made, microwaved $ 6 breakfast sandwich, I understood why. It seemed the«kids» running the joint would be better off with some adult supervision. There are some massive changes that would need to happen in how the place is ran before I’d reconsider my opinion. Looks like Café 13 may have to become the new spot for now.

Awesome décor! Great attitudes! Excellent service! The gyro salad is excellent. The meat was a little dry, but the flavor was superior. The kickin’ chicken sammich was excellent! They sauté three or four different peppers(red, orange, yellow, pepperoncini, chicken, and almonds, stuff it into a twisted French roll, then cover with cheese. Good eats!

Definitely save your money and time. Took 20 minutes to get a bowl of soup and the drip coffee tasted old. The girls behind the counter were unpleasant and uninformative of the the menu and it’s ingredients. And the girls baking in the back were not following health codes. I use to love this place, it’s a shame because the owners worked so hard to getting it where it is now.

If you are looking for food at a reasonable pace, go anywhere else. Everything is delicious but it took about 25 minutes to make a croissant that was squished. The few other times I have been there I was served quicker, but then that service is muddied by a regularly apathetic staff.

Came here for a coffee and wifi around 10am on a tues and i can’t hear myself think! Small children are literally screaming and running around unsupervised, the employees are less than friendly, the female barista is loud and making obnoxious comments about drink orders, and a small latte was nearly $ 5?! The drink wasn’t even good so i drank 1⁄3 of it and left. This place is my worst nightmare!

Windy Saddle Café is a cozy little establishment located in Historic Downtown Golden. I liked the colorful chalkboard menu and lived in book shelves. We came here around 11AM for a shot of caffeine to put a little pep into our step. ICEDCHAICHARGER($ 4): Comes with two shots of espresso. The Chai was mild and thirst quenching. 3⁄5 GOLDDIGGERFRAP($ 4.35): Comes with espresso, chocolate, caramel, and milk. The brother-in-law got this. No complaints. 3⁄5 ROCKYMOUNTAINHIGHFRAP($ 4.35): Comes with espresso, chocolate, mint, and milk. I couldn’t taste the mint flavor and thought the gold digger and rocky mountain tasted quite similar. Husband thought it was okay. 3⁄5 SERVICE: Kind of weird. The cashier was all frowns, no smiles. She didn’t give us a receipt, but she offered a receipt to my brother-in-law. The employees making the drinks seemed to be a little frazzled. 2⁄5 Worth a Return Visit? Hate to say it but I prefer Starbucks drinks to Windy Saddle Café. Unilocal100CHALLENGE2015: #215

Great coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and atmosphere! We incidentally went on Mother’s Day close to 11:00 am(prime Brunch Time) without realizing it and we still found a comfortable spot to sit and our croissant sandwiches came out fast. Very nice atmosphere, a nice play area for those with kids, although the walkway in that area can tend to get congested as that’s also the way to get to the bathrooms and back of the kitchen. Didn’t pose much of a problem as all the patrons here have been polite. The friendly, local sort that would visit the neighborhood café. Attentive, fast and friendly staff, clean, and a warm, inviting country atmosphere that isn’t «too country». We will be regulars here! The only recommendation for improving I would make is to have just some cheap flatware instead of plastic ware only — help the environment out ;)

Staff is friendly, food is good, but DONOT go here to get work done. I’ve been three times, spent $ 15 – 30 each time on food, expecting to work remotely for a few hours and had the wifi go down or never be able to log in. I understand that not all places are meant for people to bring their laptops, which is why I gave Windy Saddle 3⁄5 stars. The atmosphere is «busy», but it’s mostly kids running around(they have a kids playroom) and college students trying to connect(unsuccessfully) to the Internet. As I mentioned before they have good drip coffee, excellent panini sandwiches and an averagely friendly. They also carry Upslope Brewing Co. Cans — which is a plus! However, to my disappointment, I won’t be back for a while, at least not if I plan on getting any work done.

Got into town around 9 looking for a local place to eat. Bingo! This is a very nice place. I got the meat breakfast burrito. $ 5.18 after tax and definitely worth the price. It was filled with eggs, ham, potatoes, green chili, and onions and a cup of salsa on the side. It was delicious! I don’t drink coffee, but it is apparently what most people come here for. A steady flow of people in and out with coffee cups. They have outside seating which I chose even though it was only 50 degrees because there was no wind and it was sunny. Beautiful view of downtown Golden and the surrounding hills. First time here, but I will be back.

This place is ok. I enjoy when they have live music. The employees are sometimes not on their game. I’ve had the hottest beverage of my life here, burning my tongue unable to taste for days. And just the other day I asked if they had any croissants(I didn’t see any), was told yes and given my pastry bag to go. Opened it up to find a scone. Scones are not croissants. I’m not sure the guy knew. Not too many complaints, because that scone was delicious(carrots, coconut, and cranberries? I didn’t believe it until I tasted it). So their service is hit or miss, but its always tastey.
