The fact that this place is now closed makes me very sad. It was by far my favorite vegan place around, I ate there at least once a week if not more while living in Northridge. I am happy to find out that they closed because they retired not because of some negative issues. I wish them all the great times in their retirement and I will miss them dearly. I used to make it a mission whenever I came to LA for a visit to stop by there and they always remembered me. This will definitely be hard to ever replace and will always have a special part of my heart for making the transition to vegetarian the easiest ever.

Best Chinese food in Los Angeles– unbelievable that it is vegetarian. I’d guess it’s the best vegetarian restaurant in L.A. as well.

Although it’s pointless to write a review for a restaurant that is closing today, I just wanted to extend my appreciation and love for a wonderful restaurant that has kept me full and happy for fifteen years. Thanks, Veggie D, for all of the wonderful memories. You will be missed tremendously.

This place is truly a gem! Everything is vegetarian, which is a rarity to see in the valley. I am so sad that I found it as they are about to close their doors. Check it out before they do, just to say you went! I had the orange chicken dish, and it tasted just like chicken! The owner is so incredibly sweet, so if you want to see a smiling face, go for that! Try to convince them to stay open while you are at it, maybe they will change their mind! :)

Love this place. Nothing special about the décor, but who cares when the food is sooooo good. Perfect for the vegetarian palate. I really love the tofu lettuce wraps. Could eat them every day. Price is right too. Service is just fine and they always remember me when I come back. Even if it’s been a while.

I love this place. It’s so cozy and the owners are wonderful. A few things you must try… the sesame veggie chicken, cream cheese wontons. They are delicious and my all time fave. Enjoy!

This is by far my favorite restaurant! It’s hard to come by good vegetarian food and this place hit the spot! I’ve been coming here for a while and I am NEVER tired of it! I only wish they had one closer to me, that way I’d eat here everyday! Their lettuce wraps are to die for and the sesame chicken is amazing! Love this place and the owners are super friendly! He always remembers what we get even after not seeing him for a while. amazing amazing amazing!

Vegetable Delight is closing! (But not yet; it should still be open for a few more months) We overheard last night that the couple who runs this restaurant is retiring. I’m not sure exactly when, but they indicated they’d be open through the top of the new year at least, and then the joint would be closing for good. I figured this was worth reporting since the place is essentially a Valley treasure – a true hole in the wall and a cornerstone to the vegan/vegetarian dining scene in the area. When we heard the news, it was hard to swallow the Cream Cheese Wontons, Buddha Feast, Kung Pao Chicken and Wonton Soup we were dining. It was all delicious of course but I’m determined that this won’t be my last meal here. We’ll have to come back in January and order a feast. And then another feast to go! I wish the couple the happiest retirement in the world. They’ve added so much to the local community and deserve nothing less than the best. We will truly miss them, but also feel so grateful for all the delicious meals and happy times they’ve already given us over the years. And it’s not over yet!

Can’t give it a bad review because I was naïve but meat and chicken here is strictly imitation. I thought I ordered real chicken and it was tofu chicken not real chicken. Don’t expect real meat here.

This place is awesome! Makes you feel full and light at the same time. Healthy eating just got better. Everything tastes absolutely yummy and you will find yourself looking for more. Great food combinations, me and my honey will be coming back. My favorite so far is the sesame chicken and the hot and sour soup. Will see you again anytime soon Vegetable Delight!

One of the best vegetarian restaurants that I have been too. The service is by far one of the best. It is a small business which is great. If you’re not vegetarian but you love great food you must try this place. The owners are super honest I have left behind my wallet once and they have taken care of it for me. Also it’s a great price.

Bill and his wife are always so welcoming, I’ve been a happy customer for the past 5 years that I started working near the restaurant. My favourite is the Wonton Soup, and I add shrimp to it, its my feel good soup! It’s a shame they aren’t opened on Mondays since that’s usually when I need my feel good soup! I’ve tried non vegetarian Wonton soups, and they don’t compare at all. I honestly wished that regular dishes tastes the same as the vegan ones here

Never disappointed with what we eat. It’s amazing that food that doesn’t harm our planet or furry friends can be so delicious! The owners are sweet and make sure you fully understand the menu and taste. This place never fails my family!

Om nom nom! Going vegetarian wasn’t easy at first, but places like this made it so much easier. The fake chicken is particularly amazing. I didn’t realize how much I missed kung pao chicken and orange chicken until I dived face-first, guilt-free, into those dishes here. Their hot & sour soup is spot on. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Vegetarian or not, this place just has some bomb ass food. It’s that greasy, flavorful, restaurant Chinese food you just can’t replicate at home that reminds me of going out with my family as a kid. What worries me is that every time I go here, it’s completely dead inside. I often wonder how they stay in business. Everyone should come here and support these guys! They’re friendly, happy, with fast service and good food. P. S. Admittedly, the fake calamari is a little weird, but I don’t think that’s their fault.

Ahhhh… the best. This place is a hole in the wall and the décor is 100% non-ironic 1980s thrift shop. But the food makes up for it. I could eat the veggie bao every single day of my life and be happy. My lawd! Husband raves over the vegan«chicken» drumsticks. Everything I’ve tried is good – noodles, etc. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you must try it. As I said, not fancy, but it sure tastes great and is very cheap to boot!

I can’t believe I’ve lived in the neighborhood for over 12 years without knowing about this place! I’m sure to the amusement of the super-nice couple, who own this restaurant, I brought friends and family to eat here three times in the last four days. What we’ve tried: 1. Orange Chicken(very sweet) 2. Fish Balls with Basil(perfection) 3. Sizzling Tofu Plate(not bad) 4. Tofu with Hot Sauce(spicy for me) 5. Eggplant with Basil(mushy but still good) 6. Sizzling Rice Soup(awesome) 7. House Special Fried Rice(very good) 8. Pork with Hoisin Sauce(not bad) 9. Dry Sauteed String Beans(cooked perfectly) 10. Crispy Spring Rolls(I prefer fresh spring rolls, but then again, this is Chinese food, not Vietnamese) What I would order again: 1. Fish Balls with Basil 2. Sizzling Rice Soup 3. House Special Fried Rice 4. Tofu with Hot Sauce 5. Eggplant with Basil 6. Dry Sauteed String Beans Actually, everything was pretty good, but those were the best things I’ve tried. The menu is huge so I’m sure there are a lot of other things that are awesome, too. They provide jasmine tea before the meal and fortune cookies after. There’s a small private lot in the back of the restaurant and shopping mall parking nearby, so parking is pretty easy. Not open on Mondays! So don’t try to go and get disappointed like we did. They’re open every other day of the week though, so yeah. :) It’s all good.

Now before you judge me or my lunch partner, please take in mind that we ordered this much food so we could sample as many different vegetarian items as possible as well as have plenty of leftovers to take home with us. For our first experience at Vegetable Delight, we ordered the Cream Cheese Wonton, Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Veggie Chicken Drumstick, Steamed Veggie Bun, Corn and Tofu Soup, Wonton Soup, the lunch Lemon Veggie Chicken, the lunch Orange Veggie Chicken, the lunch Sweet and Sour Veggie Chicken and the Sesame Beef. Yes I know, even typing all of that out made me feel slightly ashamed. But we wanted to try this place out for some time and didn’t know when we would be back. So our thought process was to order as many different things as possible, so that we could try a variety of the food from here. To be honest I was slightly disappointed with some of the food. I almost always love vegetarian/vegan restaurants. But of everything we sampled, only some of the items I would order again. By far the best thing we had was the Veggie Chicken Drumsticks. I would definitely order these again. The Corn and Tofu Soup, Steamed Vegetable Dumplings and Sesame Beef were hits with us as well. However the Orange Veggie Chicken, which was really deep fried mushrooms, we weren’t a fan of. Nor the Lemon Veggie Chicken, which instead of having that ‘chicken-like-texture’ had more of a tofu consistency to it. Although I really like eating tofu, when I order something called«veggie chicken» I would like for it to at least pretend to be ‘chicken-like’ . Overall I would eat here again. I just wouldn’t go out of my way to seek this place out.

What an ABSOLUTE delight. I have the best boyfriend in the world. Since I am vegetarian he stays on the lookout for vegan/vegetarian places we can dine at and this was his find! ^_^ isoproud So close to his house which is a major plus. Not a lot of vegan places in the neighborhood so this place is a gem. The menu options here are IMMENSE. I mean line on line on lines of options. They even have vegan shrimp and vegan crab. LIKE I never in my life knew it was possible.(That will be for another visit) The biff and I ordered take-out. Seems like a really chill restaurant wasn’t too busy and the hostess/waitress was prompt in greeting us and taking our orders once we were ready. I ordered the Orange chicken and my biff had the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Similar but not the same. Orange chicken I was told would be spicy and sweet while the sweet and sour chicken would be exactly how it sounds. Food came out within 10 – 15 mins. Not a long wait. Orange chicken was tasty! Ordered brown rice on the side(main courses only come with the«meat» not carb sides) and surprisingly it was some struggle veggies on the side either spinach or bok choy really didn’t eat much of that. But the chicken wasn’t spicy at all. Really mild so if you want them to turn up the heat let em know. I preferred my boyfriends S&S Chicken. It was a bit more flavorful. ^_^ plus the pineapple chunks went well with the fried texture. Overall like the meal Would go back seeing as their sooooo many options to choose from. And it’s a great price! Really worth a try if your in the area looking for vegan/vegetarian food.
