Guerin Nurseries

2 weeks ago 3′ oleanders were priced at $ 40. The sales lady let me know that they were celebrating their 20^th anniversary on 6 – 26 and plants would be marked down 50%. Today signed were out showing 50% off. The oleander was priced $ 40-​$ 50. The sales lady said the original price was $ 90. VERY DECEPTIVE!

Great selection and reasonable prices. SO much better than Lowes or the Homely Despot.

We have purchased quite a bit from them in the past and was happy with the plants we bought. However, we were not prepared for the way we were treated on our last visit. I’m not even sure the same people own it because we have never been treated so rudely. Needless to say, we won’t be back!

Dad and I stopped in one rainy day (hence no outdoor pictures) a few weeks ago. We weren’t really shopping, just collecting information on trees. We were not prepared for the size of Guerin’s. There were so many trees it really was a forest. The amount of greenhouse space had us strolling up and down every isle ooing and ahing at the variety and beauty of the plants (and we are not really that into plants).
We both agreed that we have paid to get into botanical gardens that had less to offer than Guerin’s (and it’s free to get in, you just have to pay to leave, well if you buy something that is; For us it was a rosemary plant — see photos).
On our recommendation we sent some neighbors to Guerin’s and they came back with a rather large pecan tree. I can hardly wait for those nuts to start dropping.
Even if you don’t need plants, but are into plants, do check out Guerins. The prices seemed reasonable, but the level of knowledge was definately several notches above the big-​box stores.

Buying plants can be an expensive proposition, and while Guerin may not be as cheap as, say, Lowe’s or Home Depot, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, their selection is top notch and the atmosphere upscale.
I can’t say I’d recommend buying your average, everyday potting soil here, but for your specialty gardening needs, or just to browse around in their extensive (and expanding) greenhouses, Guerin in the place to go.
