Desserts By Lori

I needed an AMAZING cake for the 5^th anniversary of the video game that I work for, Heroes of Newerth. I looked at tons of places and had a friend suggest Desserts by Lori and her sister, Kelly. I worked with Lori, who was absolutely amazing, helpful, and accommodating. We came up with an idea, but Kelly came up with an even better idea and executed it flawlessly! Her handmade figures were gorgeous and so intricate, and everyone loved it!
(Also, I highly recommend getting the cookies and cream buttercream filling.)

They created some amazing cupcakes for a lingerie shower. The shower was during the holidays but they were able to accommodate our request during an incredibly busy time.
We asked for Mardi Gras themed cupcakes with corsets on-​top and they were absolutely perfect! They looked great and tasted even better! I would highly recommend and hope to use them again for showers or birthdays.

I went for a cake tasting at desserts by Lori looking for a place for my wedding cake. They were so nice & professional. We got in a fender bender on the way there and they adjusted our appointment time and let us stay for as long as need be, and were so nice and accommodating about it. I had plenty of time to look at and sample the cakes. The decorations were absolutely beautiful– if you want a beautiful professional looking cake this is a great place to go. They do mostly fondant or fondant over buttercream. And the cakes were very tasty– the caramel filling in the chocolate cake was amazing. Their prices were also very reasonable, half of what some places charge! In the end I went with someone closer to my wedding venue, but if you are in or near grandrapids, this is the place to go.

Excellent, excellent job by Lori and her team. We ordered 500 mini cupcakes in 5 flavors as well as a small cake for us to cut and they ALL looked and tasted fantastic. She was willing to work with us on cost of the cupcakes and she even researched and made a peanut butter cake for our big day– something new for her but she was totally willing to go with it.
We would reccommend her to ANYONE and I can’t wait til our one year anniversary so we can get our complimentary cake from her. :)
