The two stars are for the DFW airport being forward-thinking in providing a space traveling yogis to practice, and for the pleasant nighttime view through floor to ceiling windows of flights coming to and from a nearby gate. Everything else leaves a little to be desired. An instructional video plays on endless loop in the space, and there’s no way to turn it down, off, or mute. Had I found a way to silence 1980’s Dynasty/Knot’s Landing big-haired blonde yoga instructor in the video, I’d gladly share it here. The fluorescent lighting, constant loud flight announcements and general lack of privacy make the whole space more than a little un-zen. There’s a privacy screen that partially blocks the yoga room, but there were multiple carts, airport employees and curious travelers passing through. I was focused on my own practice but it would be nice to feel less«on display.» On the upside, I was the only one in there, and the studio space itself is somewhat off the beaten path between the B & D gates. Had I been joined by other yogis there was certainly ample space to share. It’s also free. This is very nice when everything in the airport is so overpriced. I’d really like to give the yoga studio three stars, but just can’t with the noise, light and lack of privacy.

What a cool idea. I was the only one. Luckily I have yoga routines on my laptop otherwise you can make up your own as there are no DVDs here. The place needs a good vacuuming.

While this is a good attempt, it would be a million times better if it were more private. I don’t know if there were panels missing or something, but there was no privacy from the people driving around in carts. And most of the those people were obviously staring(perhaps surprised to see anyone in the area?) It made my(short) practice very uncomfortable.

While I deeply appreciate an area for us yogis to stretch and meditate between flights or before a super long flight, this space is lacking. Tip: take the tram to the D1 gate, not the B gates, it’s a shorter walk. Plus: there is a space. It’s semi private behind a screen but still open to the hallway. And the passengers in the plane next to the glass windows will be able to judge your sun salutations. You’re in full view on both sides. Minus: it’s filthy. The mats are old and covered in the white skin powder from countless users feet. Ugh. No place to sit and remove your shoes. Open lattice flooring so it’s hard to not use a mat. Weird old yoga video on loop, sound is very loud so you can’t escape it. Florescent lighting. In short, the yogic version of Huis Clos(No Exit) I ran right to the men’s room afterwards to scrub my hands. And tuck my shirt back into my jeans.

The airport in Dallas Fort Worth Is among the first, To attempt to quench A yogi traveler’s yoga thirst. Nestled between Terminal D And Terminal B, Exists a rare space, Not too far from Gate D40. Provided are unsupervised, Questionable mats, Which trigger an urge For disinfectant wipes, and stat. Gaps in the partition invite Transient curious stares, While loudspeakers blare Each flight’s updates into the air. Despite the studio’s petty kinks, Waiting travelers gain A FREE yoga space, For headstands with a view of planes.

So glad I found this little area! Got to relax on a yoga mat in a very quiet spot of DFW– perfect for those long layovers. Stretch it out and relax instead of being crammed on your butt between flights! I’d like it even more if the lights were a tad dim and if there were cleaning materials for the mats. Not bad for free though!
