Love this place! Everything is so delicious! They recently raised their prices but I’m one that’s willing to pay the extra money for their food.

I have frequented this location quite a few times now and this time is the worst experience I’ve had at this location. I went there on a quiet Tuesday night. The place is empty with 4 tables including us. Maybe me and my friends aren’t regulars so i felt the waiter/waitress wasn’t paying any attention to our table. Anyway, we walked into the restaurant and no greeting upon our arrival or nothing. The guy just looked at us with no expression in his face and grabbed some menu and walked to a table so we assumed that we shall walk behind him to that table(still no words came out of his mouth). So i asked him while at the table«are we sitting here?» Still no answer or expression. So i said«hello! Are we sitting here?» Nope nothing. Okay, since there’s no one else so it is our table. Anyways sat there for a while(a long while), the waitress finally came to take our order. Food came out appropriately. It was decent. As i was having dinner and browsing around the restaurant. The waiter & waitress was giving other tables a lot more attention and kept checking on how other tables are doing. Really, do we look like we can’t afford the bill or maybe because of our race? I don’t know. But anyways, after we paid for our bills and tips in cash, the first guy(that handed us the menus) finally open up his mouth and said thank you. I of course ignored him. I truly thinks the service sucks and as a business you should respect all your customers no matter how they look and respect all races. Since i am here to spend my hard earned money for god sakes and I always spend over a hundred at that place everytime I’m there. Will i go again with that type of attitude?

Great food and customer service. Will definitely be back, I’m glad it’s so close to home. But who am I kidding, I would be back even if it wasn’t lol. Try the white sangria!

I want to give this place a 5 star rating… but let’s start with the PRO’s Location unexpected. It’s great to live so close to this location. It still gets really busy here but great service. Attentive staff. If you go right before maybe 6−7pm you’ll score a table easy. You can call in make reservations. No problem. Food is great. Chicken is what you’d expect from a peruvian spot. Delicious. Anticuchos– couldn’t believe I was eating beef heart. The arroz chaufa is great too. My family and I love seafood. Needless to say we order it pretty much anytime we are out to dinner. The jalea was ok, the fish tasted spoiled like fishy spoiled. So we told the waiter and sent it back to the chef. He insisted that it was fine that the chef insisted it was fine(okay stand by your product) they gave us a fresh batch. I would be careful when ordering this. This only happened once and didn’t deter us from ordering it again. We were just a little annoyed they didn’t think the fish was spoiled. My only two CONs that and the prices have skyrocketed.

Had a good time here this time and service was an improvement. Tried everything off the menu. Yes the matador combo can feed 4 people so keep that in mind. If I can share a piece of advice here, skip the Arroz Chaufa. It’s a simple chicken fried rice for $ 18 that you can get at the Chinese restaurant next door for $ 6. Other than that, everything I had here was top notch. Had a great time here

I love Pio Pio in the city, by Hell’s kitchen area, so I decided to try the Pio Pio here in Brooklyn. However, it’s not completely the same. They have the same menu and same combos. But the way they cook their sweet plantains is different. Juanita’s Chicken is a bit salty compared to the one I had in the city. It’s not a big difference but for those who enjoy Pio Pio in the city and knows the flavor can tell it’s a bit dissimilar. Services were okay, not anything exceptional.

Very simple and to the point: Service — 1 star(slow, inaccurate descriptions when hey told us something verbally) Food — appetizers are pretty good(the avocado with lime sauce and the empanadas are great). The main courses are not good at all. We got paella – all the seafood was rubbery(like defrosted seafood), the noodles tasted like kerosene, the Peruvian fried rice tasted like Chinese fried rice(but with less flavor). Drinks– the Rioja sangria is too sweet, tasted like boxed wine. The strawberry pisco was good. Prices are as high as in Manhattan, but the quality of the food is of lower-end South Brooklyn. I would not recommend coming here.

I like this place a lot even though people tell me it’s overpriced and the food is typical, food you can get at another Spanish restaurant for cheaper. I like their chicken combo with the spicy green sauce. My favorite! I love the plantains and the avocado salad that come with it. I think the combo is worth it and it’s good for 4+ people. The seafood with rice was really good. It was $ 30 which is pretty pricey but there were a lot of seafood. The rice is pretty creamy and soft which went well with the seafood. I’ve been there about 4 – 5 times and I would definitely go back. The few times I went there, there was no wait. The music isn’t too loud. Great atmosphere and it’s not too dark.

My girlfriend wanted to go here and i was very iffy but boy I was wrong. Everything about this place from start to finish was exceptional. The atmosphere and décor made you feel in a modern upscale restaurant that had great vibes. The servers were very very nice and accommodating and you could tell they knew the menu inside out and their recommendations were authentic and valid. We got the matador combo for two(which could have fed 3 or 4 to be honest which costed $ 38 which is MORE than reasonable. For a whole chicken, fries and franks, rice and beans, plantains, and avocado salad. EVERYTHINGSERVEDWASFREAKINGDELICIOUS. I was trying to find something I disliked, but there is nothing. I highly highly highly urge you to try this place out. I rarely give 5/5…this place deserves it.

Pio Pio in Brooklyn! No need to travel out to the city/queens for the Peruvian chicken fix anymore! Matador Combo $ 38 — Listed as most popular on the menu. There’s really a 99.9% chance your group will choose this if your party is 4+. This combo includes 1 rotisserie chicken(very juicy. even the breast), yellow rice and beans, tostones(fried plantains — you can choose sweet or salty), salchipapa(sausages & fries — sausages were salty), avocado salad(very good!) Corvina a lo Macho $ 30 — this seafood plate is a bit spicy. There are scallops, shrimp, clams, mussels, squid claims and a pan fried corvina. great for sharing and putting topping off on your yellow rice for extra flavor. Choros a la Chalaca $ 14 — Peruvian style mussels — Didn’t get to try this but the table loved it. presentation looks great! ***Ask for the green sauce! Goes perfectly with the rotisserie chicken.*** A+ for service and décor. Family style meals with plenty of tables.

I got to try Pio Pio’s lunch special which was recommended to me by people who visited this place before. It doesn’t disappoint. The chicken was cooked thoroughly which gave it that juicy aspect when I gave it my first bite. I recommend trying it with the green sauce that they provide you with. The food in general does fill you up quiet nicely. The waiter service was quiet affable which made me feel welcome. The waiter was patient and had no problem suggesting certain dishes. This place is good for any family dinners or birthday parties. The environment of this place is calm and big enough for such occasions. Definitely would give this place a try! :)

Pio Pio never disappoints! I have to say the only odd thing I noticed at this location is that tables aren’t assigned to any particular waiter. Every time we come here we sit for a long time & have to eventually ask for a waiter. They just randomly pick a table to serve. Once you get a waiter the service is nonstop! This time I ordered the camarones cusco. Shrimp with garlic in a white wine, garlic & cilantro sauce served over hellos rice & topped with freshly sliced red onions. The flavor is out of this world! My husband & daughter ordered the matador combo which is a ridiculous amount of food! A whole hockey, platanos, salad, rice, beans & salchipapa. As usual we most of it home! Grateful this restaurant isn’t near my house or I’d be a regular!

An ok place when you are craving chicken. The service is spotty and I felt rushed. Make sure you specify if you want certain dishes as appetizers or else you will get everything you order all at once. The sangria was overly sweet and weak. The matador combo($ 38) is huge and more than enough food for 4 people if you order some starters with it. The paella was also big enough to share($ 30). The aji de gallina($ 18) was dry, don’t get it.

FOODISAMAZING. I’ll leave that at the title because why ruin good food with crappy service. And I want to make sure that Unilocal should have left two options for food quality and for service. Because at this point I wanna take that Effin yuka and throw it back to the kitchen. 35 min wait for one dish!!! Now, I walked in hungry as a mofo. I was open to their daily specials and for their special drinks. And I wanted to feel special. That how I like it. Do you want the beef sphetti thingy? Asks the server. I’m so hungry the bar stool looks medium rare. I said YES in two second flat. And can I order the fried yuka too I replied quickly. I love their very disappointing service yuka(cool key phrasing) I’m drinking their brandy induced fruit like sangria special drink which I highly recommend. I’m getting twisted on empty Stomach facetiming with my sister. For 20 min. At that time we hang up the phones and I’m like god daaaaaaaamn where is the food? It’s been 30 min… WTF. I give my holocaust hungry angry face to the waiter he’s like yes yes yes it’s coming. I’m in the drunk hungry and not very complimented customer mode. Finally!!! The guy brings the dish… I’m so hungry but this service really was sobering my thumbs for this lovely review. This entire time they didn’t bring the YUKA it’s liked Franch fries!!! It takes 3 min in deep fry!!! Wtf? And then I mention him again and another 5 min passes and my YUKA finely Came. my drink was done when I hang up the phone. There was another 10 min wait until he actually came and asked me if I want to have another drink. I said yes. He says too. … 3… 7… 10 min No drink! I’m in an alcoholic nightmare! GETMEOUTOFHERE! Long story short. I had to bitch about the late service and get the drink off my tab. And then he brig me back a check without the card which I thought was weird. And I’m like give me the pan let me sign and bounce. He’s like yeah I wanted to see if it’s ok with you. Duaaaaah I got two items plus drink. If there’s no drink than yeaaaaaaah it’s fine. charge the card and quite eating my time. Let’s not get ironic with wasting time. writing reviews on the train is the best 30 min fly Have a wonderful day. Great food! Slow motion services SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWHASHTAG

Party of 6 on Valentine’s Day for a friends birthday. People who sat down after us got their meals before our appetizers even came out. It took more than 45 minutes for the appetizer to come out. We got the tasting and a side of fried hot dog with fries as appetizers. We finished the tasting and the fries/hot dog didn’t still have not show up. We asked the waitress about 4 times about the food. We looked at the receipt at the end and we noticed that she put the order in 40 minutes after we sat down. she also admitted that she forgot to put the order in. :( Luckily the food tasted good. But it was overshadowed by the poor or lack of service. Half way thru the meal. I asked my friend how was their food. He said it was alright a lil blend and then I realized they didn’t give him any green sauce at all. When taking the plates away, she dropped food on my friend. I wonder if it’s payback for us pestering her about our food. Looking for a good time? I think you’re better off with the Chinese take out across the street.

If you’re looking for the best Peruvian chicken in Brooklyn then look no further, Pio Pio is where it’s at! I’m so glad I don’t need to trek all the way to the city just to have this. I prefer coming here during lunch hours(Mon-Fri, 11−4pm) to take advantage of their $ 9.50 lunch specials and to avoid crowds. Their lunch special includes a salad, quarter chicken, beverage and a choice of a side. We opted for the maduros and the rice & beans this time. The rice is nice and fluffy, while the beans were a great touch. I absolutely LOVE their rotisserie chicken! It’s so succulent and flavorful. I don’t know how they prepare the spice rub on their chicken to make it so well-seasoned. Think golden crispy skin combined with their juicy dark meat dipped into their special green sauce… mega addictive I tell you! I truly enjoyed every single bite of my food!

My excitement grew when I found out Pio Pio opened up not too far from home and that excitement grew even a lot more when my friends decided to try it out with me and my boyfriend. I really liked the décor of the restaurant because it was very simple and chic. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The matador combo was amazing and delicious! It’s one of Pio Pio’s most popular menu item. The combo included: Mama Juanita’s rotisserie chicken, yellow rice and beans, tostones, salchipapa, and an avocado salad. The rotisserie chicken we enormous! It was roasted to a nice shade of golden brown, piping hot, tender, and tasty! The yellow rice and beans were alright. The salchipapa was interesting! I mean who have ever thought sliced frankfurters and french fries can go so well? My personal favorite item was the tostones because the quality was beyond what I had expected. It had a slight crunch on the outside and were really moist, smooth, and delightful. My group and I ordered the crispy sea bass based on a review I read on Unilocal. The Pescadito Chifa(crispy sea bass) was served with oriental mixed vegetables and sauteed with Peruvian spices with white rice. I wasn’t a real fan of this even though the sea bass was cooked just right but the oriental mixed vegetables weren’t too appealing. We also tried the Jalea(fried mixed seafood platter topped with salsa criolla). The fried seafood that I tried was fried calamari, fish, and not sure what else but there was also fried yuca. The salsa criolla tasted like ranch sauce. Although this dish was a nice blend of fried goodness, I actually wasn’t too thrilled with it because the bread crumbs/batter could have used a little seasoning. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria — Roja(Rose).I really liked the Sangria we had. It complemented the food very well and was refreshing. For the most part, our dinner was delightful and satisfying. I would love to come back soon as I did enjoy move of the food and would come back most definitely for their crispy and sweet tostones and roast chicken of course.
