Back in 2000 crews were working to straighten the road near the local high school, making it safer for everyone when they came upon a huge pit of fossils! Some new species were found in this pit and the Smithsonian got involved. All that lead to this cool museum in Gray, TN. If you live in the area its great to go and see what use to live in your back yard and learn that you never know what you could find in it. If you are passing though its worth a stop to learn more about the history of nature and if you are there in the summer, you can even help excavate! There are a lot of activities for kids to partake in. A little pit for excavating fake fossils, puzzles to put together to form skeletons, ect. Adults can have fun with all that as well. The cost is reasonable at $ 6 for adults and less for kids. Traveling exhibits cost more, around $ 9 last time I was there(Mar 2013). Definitely worth going to at least once.
