Most run of the mil, l boring chili. I’ll eat just about anything but I couldn’t eat more than two spoons of this stuff – it is so bad.

I just love the chili but couldn’t believe it when the red haired waitress used her bare hand to put the overflowing noodles in my take out bowl. GROSS!!! So mad at myself for not telling her to make me a new bowl. If they do this in front of you what do they do in the kitchen?

It’s not for everyone but my top choice for chili. Eat in or take home. It’s a treat either way

Chili Johns makes my dad’s mouth water just thinking about it! I always try to make it here when I visit Green Bay. It’s a tradition to get a super bowl hot with dad including beans and spaghetti! I’m told Fran Tarkenton used to always visit here when he’d visit the Packers!

I have been to Chili John’s a number of times during my lifetime. They have never disappointed me. This place is a must try if you are in Green Bay. It has been around since 1913. The hotter you ask for the chili, the more meat you are given. I ordered a hot super bowl last time with a soda. My dad ordered a extra hot super bowl with a soda. The chili includes spaghetti and a side bowl of crackers. The taste and consistency of the chili is excellent. The spices and oils used to create the chili create a chili that is unmatched. The waitresses service was also excellent. The place is also clean inside. In the past, my Dad and I would buy chili from Chili John’s Café inside Lambeau Field before a Packer game. While other places may have good/great chili, Chili John’s is the best in Green Bay in my opinion.

I can’t believe I came to try this place for the first time to see them drop noodles off the chili bar to pick up with hands to put back in the pot. Omg! Gross. I paid $ 5 for two sodas and left without eating. Never again.

Came in late and asked for about half the beans, well drained. Was a very good bowl of chili and she served the meat«dry» which cut on the calories greatly. Only disappointment was the price for the Super Bowl, which isn’t all that large, was just short of $ 10. Pricey but I don’t get here often and its a treat.

Chili John’s is a true find. Located in a strip mall… but it’s worth going in! We ordered three different favors, Mild, Medium, and Hot. All three were delicious! We left full, but not stuffed. Service was quick, but nothing fancy. We will be back!

Maybe it’s because I didn’t grow up eating this kind of chili, but I thought it was terrible. I saw another comment that said Wendy’s had better chili and I would agree, hands down.

Being new to the area, this was another one of those«how have you not had *insert name here* before??» I’m not exactly a chili connoisseur but I know a good meal and Chili John’s provided just that. I had the superbowl xtra hot chili with beans and noodles. Lots of big flavor here and excellent texture in the fine chili. Next time I have to try the nachos because they looked stellar. I also love the vibe the place has. Reminds me of home where I can just walk in, get some grub and see everything in front of me. Comfortable.

I used to work in this neighborhood so would sometimes come here on my lunch breaks. Now that I don’t work in Green Bay, I don’t get here as much. It’s a place I like to visit about four to six times a year. The chili is greasy, but honestly I find it delicious. Love the history behind the place, love that it’s a locally owned business, and I love the people that work here too. It’s a bit overpriced which is the main reason why I wouldn’t eat here more often than a few times a year. It’s a Green Bay classic, and I highly recommend you check it out!

Ok, I’ve had chili all over the country and I have to give Chili John’s an «F» only because there is no lower score to give! I went to the counter and ordered a regular bowl of chili… I was asked if I wanted beans or spaghetti I said no, just chili. «that will be $ 9.86 sir». What??? If you order just chili, as in only meat, they charge the crap out of you… now, the only difference between mild and hot is the amount of meat you get… There is absolutely no difference in the spice level… So here’s how they figure it… If you order mild, you get 2 oz. of greasy suet/chili… You want it hotter? They give you more meat… You have to be a cheese head to understand the logic here… As far as the so called chili… It was a styra-foam container filled with half meat half suet oil. I am even shocked that the locals can even like this bowl of grease. I guess the only thing I can appreciate is I am sure i will end up with a complete colon clean out for a mere $ 10.00 Worst chili ever!

Cincinatti-style chili. Spaghetti, beans, chili meat. Oyster crackers. Excellent. A classic. Go here and connect with the Green Bay of curly lambeau. This place is a working time machine. Unilocal wants to know if they have wifi. No Unilocal, they do not have wifi. If they install wifi they may as well add chipotle and hover boards.

Per the recommendation from a Green Bay local, my friends and I decided to hit up Chili John’s after the Lambeau Field stadium tour the day before game day. It was probably twenty four below outside, so a nice hot bowl of homemade Chili did not sound like a bad idea at all! When the six of us arrived, there was no wait all for seating. I assume that a majority of their business is via take-out or maybe we went at an off-hour? Regardless, let’s get to the good stuff. I wasn’t too hungry so I just went with the regular extra hot Chili bowl opposed to the chili-dogs, subs, tacos, and all that good stuff. Lasting impression, as stated earlier by other reviews, the flavoring was fantastic. There’s a lot going on in the chili, and I’m a sucker for spicy food. I’m pretty sure my stomach lining is so messed up I’m basically immune to everything short of Moruga. Very appetizing.

Best chili hands down! Our friends took us here for the first time and we loved it. Go for the extra hot, meat only. Yum! Always friendly, good service. Only downfalls are the prices and the grease. Sometimes at the end of a bowl, the chili is swimming in grease :(but the taste makes up for it. If you are ever in Green Bay, stop here.

My wife and I were excited to hear of this place to try Green Bay style chili. Let me preface by stating that we are from Cincinnati and therefore are partial to Cincinnati-style chili which is based upon traditional Macedonian(some generalize to Greek) stew. In contrast to what another reviewer asserted, this is NOT Cincinnati-style chili and the only resemblance is being served over spaghetti. We found Chili John’s to be overly greasy and over-priced. This may be your cup of chili, but not for us.

Came here on the advice of a fellow passenger on my flight in. Was not disappointed. This is what we’d call Cincinnati-style chili in Ohio. I’m not sure what the connection is; this place has been in Green Bay for almost 100 years, the founder was Lithuanian, I think most of the Cinci places were started by Greeks, so who knows? Finely ground meat, tomato sauce, spices, grease… Add to that some spaghetti if you’d like, maybe beans, maybe onions and cheese on top…(Oddly, you’ll pay extra for those last two.) Health food it’s not, but it’s tasty, and probably really good on a cold Wisconsin day… The hot is not very hot, just nicely seasoned. The«hotter» you get it, the more meat you get. They have plenty of sandwiches, etc., on the menu, but why come here and get anything but chili? I had a regular bowl of hot, plus a chili dog. Both were very good. Prices are a bit higher than I’m used to in Ohio; maybe it’s just that competition drives them down? Supposedly oyster crackers were invented here; yet another reason to stop in and savor the history and flavor.

The only knock about this chili is there is sometimes too much oil in the meat. However, the flavor is awesome! They have meat sauce to go but we have found that several if the local grocery stores sell the frozen packages for less. Also, the chili dogs are a must try! Best chili in town!

By far the worst chili I have ever tasted. Had a chili dog with my wife and sadly the only appetizing thing we had was the bun(the part not already tainted by what they referred to as chili). Seriously, this is not chili. Minced spam and tomato sauce is more edible. This was a HUGE disappointment for as much hype as this place received.

Imagine a state smack dab in the middle of the midwest, landlocked, except for the large lake up north, which resembles the sea. This gave me, the token Asian in the woods near Big Lake, a sense of relief. Yes yes, my ex was from the midwest. And when we visited Green Bay, he just absolutely had to make a stop here, a local diner called Chili Johns. The place is reminiscent of the Norman Rockwell paintings. Red and white diner, with old vinyl chairs and booths. When I walked in, the chairs at the counter swiveled to look at me. Great. The smell of chili is overpowering, I could feel it absorb through my clothing and once it hit my skin, it was osmosis taking place. We sat down and looked at the menu. Chili Chili with beans Chili with noodles Chili with noodles!!!@$ We ordered and it came out in 5 minutes. The chili is already bubbling in the back pots and I watched as the waitress ladled the stuff out. It glopped out onto my noodles, which was some generic form of spaghetti. It smelled good, just like chili, a little watery(thick soup) with lots of ground hamburger. There was a small layer of shiny iridescence floating on the surface, probably from the lard or grease used in the preparation. I personally like a thicker chili, but this was not that bad. Spicy and a little piquant, like a vinegar twitch right thereafter. I tossed some of the soda crackers on top and ate the whole thing. After that gut bomb, we walked over to a local doughnut shop to get his fave logs: the vanilla icing is specific here, can’t find them in Cali. So when in Green Bay, WI, remember to stop by this historical landmark. My ex was so into it, his mother use to send him frozen tins of it every X-mas!
