Thanks to the guys, and the lady, here who helped me understand the rather complex world of premium Tequila — the only world in this area that I know less about is that of premium Burbon. I was attempting to determine what to buy, as a Christmas present, for a discerning Tequila drinker, who is also a professional bartender, and a very good one — that’s how we became friends. Until this point, I never even considered that there was such a person as a discerning Tequila drinker — I thought Tequila drinkers pretty much licked salt off their wrist, drank whatever was in the glass, and sucked a lime. I learned there are 2 basic categories of Tequila(100% de Agave & Mixto) — 2 regional areas of tequila — highland and lowland — and for each of those two there are 5 types, generally based on the aging length and process — Blanco(Silver), Joven(Gold)Reposado(Aged), Anejo(Extra Aged), & Extra Anejo(Ultra Aged). They cost pretty much increases as the aging increases, and a fifth of Extra Anejo can run to $ 250. After talking with these nice folks, and a little more research, I settled on 2 bottles — Tezon Blanco($ 58.15) and Herradura Anejo($ 49,95) — both are excellent sipping tequilas — so good that neither salt or a lime are required — and just keep them in the freezer, beside the nice bottle(s) of vodka. I bought the same for our house, as well. It is so cool when buying a friend a Christmas present becomes a learning experience in the worls of food and drink. Thanks guys
