Please please please do not come here for dinner!!! The worst food I’ve ever had in my life!!! The atmosphere is nice but the food is on the worst level. We ordered steaks, perch, crab cakes. The steaks were fatty and BAD!!! They were so bad that we asked to see the owner. Of course he never came. The perch was Luke warm and the crab cakes were doughy;very disgusting. I’m a foodie, I love great food; however if this place stay in business they have to make some changes and fast. I would not recommend this place! For a good local meal try Andiamo or a place on that level. Not some local restaurant with a bad chef, a lack of caring owner and horrible waitress stAff! Please don’t waste your money!!!

I had bought a groupon for this establishment just so I could try it out. My groupon expired and usually I am able to use the $ 40 I spent to purchase the groupon towards food at the restaurant. It’s pretty much credit. I called the restaurant and asked if I could use the amount I paid for the groupon towards my order and she said not if its expired and I explained to her that the money goes to you so why wouldn’t I be able to use it. I never had an issue with a restaurant honoring an expired groupon before. I lose the promotional value but never what I paid for. It was all just such a headache. I emailed groupon and they contacted the restaurant and they«sorted» it out but I called the restaurant the next day and they did the same thing. So groupon refunded me what I paid for. Such a frustrating scenario.

My husband and I used a Groupon for this place. The first and now only time we will be patronizing this establishment. We paid $ 45 for our groupon. When we presented our groupon before ordering we were shown where and what we could order on the menu. OK. Not my favorite way of doing things but what the heck. So 2 entrees and an appetizer. Anyway, we had steak for dinner. One Ribeye and one NY strip. Bad. The cheapest cuts of those types of steak I had ever seen. We ordered a side of broccoli. Wet, soggy and lukewarm. All of our food was sub par. HUGE baked potatoes that were ridiculous. I guess we got the giant potatoes to fill us up from the measly bites of non gristle or non fat meat from our steaks. The live music going on was nice. Service was ok. Even though the waitress should have been embarrassed to bring that crap to our table. I feel that we got the«Coupon» meal treatment. We won’t be going back. Period. There is a new place now next door. BBQ. Bootleggers, Pig and Whiskey Bar. Owned by the same people. There is a groupon available for that place as well. I won’t be going there either. I feel that I cannot trust the business model. Maybe it is ok to sit at the bar and listen to the musicians, have a beer or something. Funny that some people feel the place is «classy». Not so. It is an ok atmosphere, though somewhat loud in the dining area. Décor Meh. I think you should not show your Groupon or any coupon until AFTER you order and eat. Let me know how it goes for you.

After some fun filled water activities, come to this quintessential speak easy joint nestled in Grosse Pointe. You walk in and you’re greeted with a blast back to the past. It feels as old timer gangsters hung out here. It’s so classy, we felt so under dressed when we walked in. Next time I’ll wear something with a collar. The reason why I wanted to come through is because they had a geeky selection of oysters. We were tagging along an oyster virgin as well. Their oyster rockefeller is a good start for people who are more of a texture eater rather than a flavor eater. So we did half dozen half shells, rockefeller and a calamari to share. All the dishes were on point, specially the rockefeller. The half shells were amazing… they do have an assortment of different oysters coming from different regions as well. I’m not an oyster geek, so I had the chef’s preference. Couldn’t remember what it was, but I always enjoy and freshly shucked oyster. The calamari is pretty good as well, but i focus more into the good stuff. Come here for a brew or two and have some oysters, cooked or raw they are absolutely sensational. The staff is great, our server us a sweetheart and very knowledgeable. She was very attentive and loved to talk and took good care of us. Heck, even the guy at the bar said hello when we walked in. THAT my friend is customer service. I’ll be back, trust me on that. This place is just a pleasant place to be. Life is too short to eat boring food. This place is great!!! We drove 40 min to come here and it was well worth it. The food was really good and so was the service. I would most definitely return and also recommend. They also have live music everyday and it’s nothing crazy just perfect! Perfect for a date night.

I brought my sister to Rockefeller’s for my second visit. We arrived and were greeted by a smiling hostess before parking ourselves at the bar. The bar was about half full as was the restaurant — I thought it would be a lot more busy, and the bartender later mentioned that it was the slowest friday she’d ever worked! We ordered drinks and food — a shrimp/mushroom dish that was cheesy and good, a half dozen oysters on the half shell, the cream of onion soup, and the steamed mussels. Overall, the food was tasty and fresh, and the service was attentive and friendly. I was excited to have the cream of onion soup again, but I was disappointed when it arrived lukewarm. There were two soggy pieces of toasted white bread accompanying the mussels — I could have gone for a bit more pizzaz there. I really loved the oysters! $ 3 a piece and there were a few varieties available. $ 84 before tip for four drinks and the food we shared — they had an awesome pianist/singer who happily played two New York themed tunes for my sister who lives in NYC — she found Rockefeller’s to be quite charming.

Overall, the service and atmosphere were lovely, but unfortunately the food did not match. To begin, the price of the food seems to be at two different price points: burgers and sandwiches seem very reasonable at roughly $ 10/.5 lbs burger. The entrees begin at roughly 15 dollars for a vegetarian meal all the way up to 25 dollars for a meal with seafood. Coors begins at 4 dollars with any other beers increasing in price. Wine begins around 8 dollars/glass. The food appears to be up to snuff but upon further inspection, it would seem as if corners have been cut. The calamari is in a great sauce but itself is rubbery. The salads(spinach and ceasar) were large portions but with low quality lettuce. The burger did not seem to be the half pound(as advertised) and tasted old to the point of inedible. Overall, the whole meal felt overpriced and low quality. With a convenient location and dynamite atmosphere, rockefellers might be a good place to grab a drink but should not be a contender for dinner.

Went in recently with another couple and we didn’t feel the value matched the price. The food is just ok, but to be fair we only tried a few things(perch and oysters). The salads were drenched in dressing, the clam chowder came cold and they brought the food all at once — not salad/soup first and then main course which is quite annoying. The wait staff is extremely nice but stumbled on some basic questions which was odd(eg. what kind of oysters do you have?) The food menu is poorly structured and has you flipping from front to back quite a bit. Overall it was quite underwhelming and didn’t live up to the strong reviews I’d read. The cherry on top was the bill, which solidified we won’t be returning. If you do go and get oysters, don’t waste your time with any of them but the bluepointe.

My dad and I visited Rockefellers on a Saturday night. It was quite busy but we were seated right away by the owner himself! We had the mussels and spinach artichoke dip for hors d’ourves. Both were amazing, however there were not that many mussels. For dinner I had the portabella goat cheese burger which was absolutely life changing. The«burger» is the massive portabella mushroom, not meat, so don’t be confused. My taste buds have never been happier! For drinks, both the mojito and cosmo were delicious and beautifully presented. The only bad thing I can say is that our waitress was extremely slow and inattentive.

I’ve been here a total of three times in the past couple of months & each time has been excellent! The staff is very friendly, the ambiance is inviting & cozy, the menu is expansive enough to please the pickiest eater, AND the food is delectable! Sunday brunch, happy hour specials, sushi, and featured specials are always on point!

Stopped in here on a Thursday afternoon after work for some happy hour goods. Handsome décor, live jazz music for happy hour, laid back vibe – I ordered the fried oyster(not on the happy hr menu, but very willing to pay regular price) and it was just as good as I expected. I also had the lobster & shrimp stuffed portabella mushroom(on the happy hr menu). It was very good, also. After a glass of wine and a couple of martinis before happy hour ended, I was set. I took a peek at their dinner menu and everything sounded delicious. It was really nice and I plan to go back more often!

Enjoyed an excellent experience celebrating a birthday last night. The salmon and the perch was delivered with an excellent presentation and tasted wonderful! The drinks were superb and the music was wonderful as well. This restaurant is wonderful and certainly a 5 star on every aspect. Well done!

I walked in and saw a bass player, immediately(the duo was impeccable). A singer of the Sinatra, Martin, jazz standard etc style. Awesome. Lobster bisque was great. Cosmos were strong and tasty. Cole slaw was a bit too rich for our tastes at my table. The berry cobbler arrived warm, good flavor but oddly textured. The atmosphere of this old-fashioned oyster bar-type place won my heart over big time. Doesn’t hurt that the server gave us the low-down on the place’s history, along with the plans for the block. There are many great food options on the menu– I was almost overwhelmed!

I was so happy to be back inside this place. I live only a short ways away, and used to frequent it when it was Tom’s Oyster Bar, and then when it became Dylan’s. I was very pleased to find that they hadn’t changed the 20’s-saloon-style interior much. The seats are more comfortable, and for some reason it didn’t feel as cramped as it used to, but otherwise everything was very much the same. Looks like they’re going back to the nautical theme Tom’s held. Our server was very energetic, charming, and attentive. We ordered local craft beers, house red, and a couple of martinis. All fantastic, great selection. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, Calamari, and Lobster Mac & Cheese. Absolutely delicious, though it did take a while to get to us. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Linguini. Now comes the only issue we had for the entire night. Our entrees took ridiculously long to get to us. Maybe close to 45 minutes or more. Our waiter stopped by every few minutes to check on us and let us know that it wouldn’t be much longer. The table next to us ended up leaving before their meals could be served. Our waiter was very apologetic, and to be honest, we were having such a nice time that we weren’t upset about it. On top of that, this place just opened. There are bound to be kinks. We get it. Finally, our entrees began to arrive. Only problem, there was a mixup in which half of our meals went to the wrong table. So while half of us were served, the other half would have to wait another 5 minutes. No biggie, really. Again, working out the kinks. We share meals, anyways. Needless to say, the rest of our meals arrived as promised. And boy, were they delicious. Absolutely wonderful. My smoked salmon linguini didnt skimp on the salmon or the flavor. I only wish I had a piece of bread to sop up some of the sauce. And my favorite part of the night was when the head chef made an appearance at our table to personally apologize for the delay, and to buy us a full round of drinks. Yes, the delay was long. Kinks. The atmosphere, service and food were outstanding. We’ll definitely be back.
