Gibbet Hill Grill has been a place of curiosity as I drive by it every morning on the way to work. I enjoy the black cows grazing on the fields. What a nice place in the heart of Groton to celebrate an early Valentines Day or any other special occasion. It did not disappoint. Reservations are required as this is a very popular trendy spot. They promote this as a steak house so if that is not your thing check the menu online first. They have 11 other entrees. Dress is casual. Kids are welcomed but with the prices here we will keep this for my wife and I. Dining room is a renovated barn but very sleek and elegant! The kitchen is open and you can see the executive chef help get the orders out. I wasn’t a big fan of the beer selection. They have different CRAFT beers on draught vs. the typical Sam Adams and Bud Light. I order Narragansett while waiting. It was more a light beer.. The wine selection is HUGE! A whole page of it. The bread with butter served with the meal was very good. The butter tasted homemade. I ordered a side of the Gibbett Hill Salad one of the best I ever had with excellent goat cheese! Yum! Yum! I would get goats in my yard if my wife would make goat cheese! Excellent portion too. I ordered the steak tips with caramelized onions. The flavor was very good. Steak sauce is not required but available. They need more diversity in their farm sides. Its basically potatoes, carrots, or brussel sprouts and 2 out of 3 I’m not really fond of. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good but on the luke warm side. My steak tips topped with caramelized onions was good. My wife loved her filet mingon. All good temperatures. The service was EXCELLENT! The waiter was very polite and professional. Overall we will be back.

We’ve had a couple of great dinners here, but unfortunately more bad than good, and today made me not want to come back. It was PACKED with small children, our waiter was unwelcoming. My filet was one of the least tender, least flavorful steaks I’ve had, much less filets that I’ve had! Nothing else was noteworthy. Maybe we’d come back for a late night reservation, just for dessert, to see if kids wouldn’t be there? Usually I’d say no, but there really aren’t many choices if you live out here… lol.

We decided to check out Gibbet Hill based on the article that they have one of the best burgers in the state. We loved the homey barn like building and the roaring fireplace on a chilly New England night. Our waitress Stacy was lovely and very attentive. She brought us cornbread and sourdough while we decided on our meal. We are not big eaters so we split the autumn salad with cider vinegarette with toasted pumpkin seeds, crispy fried onions and sliced cheese. The dressing was a bit salty but we liked the crunch of nuts and onion. We ordered the famous Gibbet Hill burger. We asked for medium but the burger was almost raw. We sent it back but we think they just reheated our original burger. The slaw, homemade pickles and fries rounded out the dish. The manager checked in on us and apologized many times for the error. We ended the meal with Chocolate Pots de Crème which was really good and the drink we had was also well done. We will go back and give them another try. If the manager had not been so gracious we might not even consider it. We give it a 3.5 out of 5 because the service was top notch

You don’t get much better than this. The food is freaking fabulous. Honestly, their burger kills that of any place that calls themselves a burger restaurant. There salads, soups, steaks, and other dishes are dynamite! I will say this, make reservations, and make them days in advance. With that said, DONOT let them sit you at the 2 top around the corner from the bar. Heck, don’t let them sit you at ANY2 top ‘table’ at all. If this is read by anyone with the power to remove those two tiny children’s tables just past the bar on the right, please get rid of them. You guys are too good of a restaurant to simply make seat to fill. Totally ruined dinner for me. Now with my complaining aside, I’ve eaten here at least 2 dozen times, and that was a first time I had been sat at the kiddie table. I just want to make sure you, a potential guest, know not to accept these tables. So, back to the good… Best food by far in Middlesex county. An early dinner at sunset would appeal to any diner who ate there. Beautiful views, great service, and my favorite place to eat! They move back to a 5 star review upon my next visit and a better table.

Best restaurant in Massachusetts, hands down. Ambiance is perfect– quaint, country barn with well dressed waiters and extremely friendly hosts. I went to boarding school in Groton and whenever parents came up to visit I would request to go here. Start out with either the grilled cheeses(made with local cheeses from dairies around New England) or the crab dip. Both are excellent. For your main course I encourage you to try their burgers. Absolutely the best I’ve ever had.

Been there several times and really enjoy the experience. I do not eat beef often, but when I am at Gibbet Hill Grill I always get the grass fed beef burger. I don’t think I have ever had a burger this good. Rest of menu is OK but not extraordinary.

Gone way down hill. Been going here for years. Crab dip is often broken and separated. this last time was especially gross. Ordered 10 ounce steak frites. got two pieces, of trimmings off of several flank steaks. which was probably prefired as it was ice cold. Bone marrow butter had zero flavor and stayed in solid form waiting for waitress to return. Promptly sent back. used to be a stand by. nothing more than a bloated Common Man now. Expensive mistake and probably done as we’ve noticed considerable drop off in quality of food last few trips. Be, warned: absolute shitshow on a Saturday. Picture a black Friday surge of idiots trying to get into Walmart, and there you have it.

Went for birthday dinner and had amazing food at this place. Located in middle of no where but that barn feeling with rustic interior is what makes this place unique. Of course food itself is just amazing and wasn’t disappointed at all. Had jumbo crab cake and that was all crab. My wife is a vegetarian and the pasta dish that she tried, she loved it too. Little bummed that they ran out of chocolate cake but o well… I couldn’t have planned that :) That sourdough bread with fresh whipped butter is something out of this world. locally made and fresh ingredients just makes any dish at this place a worthy of high praise.

No. Typical overpriced, under-quality MetroWest fare. I’m sorry, but I’m going to drive into Boston and go to Morton’s the next time I want a decent steak. A skinny little bone-in sirloin that’s supposedly«dry aged» required salt to give it any taste at all. I can do better picking up a couple of steaks at BJ’s and grilling them at home. Much better, as a matter of fact. BTW — mushrooms are supposed to be crunchy and nutty when they’re sauteed. Not soggy and gross. Again, I could do better with a sauté pan, some sliced garlic and butter. Much better. This place may fool the fools who won’t cross the Rt. 128 threshold, but they will not fool me twice. But, the place was packed on a Monday night, so this commentary is a waste of time.

first time going and really enjoyed the night. Made reservations for 6:30 and they took us within 5 minutes of arriving. We were immediately offered the fresh chips, OUTSTANDING! I Split a Full Cesar Salad with my wife, croutons were deliciously spiced with garlic, dressing was bland otherwise. Cocktails were delicious, 10 Year Punch is a great suggestion! I ordered the Bone-inRib-eye with Mac & Cheese, Summer Squashes and an extra side of creamy red bliss garlic mashed potatoes, ALLAMAZING!!! My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Filet with Mac & Cheese and red bliss mashed. Too stuffed for dessert, Will absolutely come back soon! Service was top notch, we were taken care of very well.

Review via bullet points… Chowder: A–(the minus is only because it’s not the best ever… some bar on the vineyard had the best chowder I ever had) this chowder is perhaps the best within a 75 mile range! Cocktail: had the 10 year punch. Wasn’t really a fan, I probably chose wrong. However they give you a lot of it and you can taste the alcohol C+ Bread: unoriginal mix of cornbread and Italian white bread. I didn’t even taste it so take this grade with a grain of salt. C–(edit…I broke down and tasted it. The butter brings it up a grade. Pretty tasty. But corn bread was dry B) Caesar salad: B/B+ pretty damn tasty Mashed potatoes: Excellent. A I love mashed Jumbo shrimp: B– Porterhouse: tender, delicious… probably could use a bit more spice to it. A– Definitely a great place… and I’m a critical dude. If I find«my» drink, I could see myself becoming a usual here. The service was very good for it being as busy as it was. I sat at the bar to avoid an hour and a half wait for food. The bartender was very professional. You could tell she had a lot of experience. There’s no 4.5, so I give it a 4.

These two stars are for the mussels app. I usually have a pretty good meal here… love the whole farm to table thing. But the broth of the mussels was insanely salty. GROSS. Also, my guy got the steak tips… and it looked very underwhelming. The sides were in separate dishes on the side… and the steak tips were just laying on a white oval plate. Looked very uncreative compared to the presentation of other dishes. I say keep the sides and steak tips on the same plate. Presentation is just as important as taste in my book.

I love going to the bar at Gibbet Hill. The bartenders are professional and the cool cucumber margarita(jalapeño and cukes) is perfect on a summer evening. The food is locally sourced and in some cases grown on the premises. Everything I’ve eaten there has been delicious. The table service is something we have learned to avoid.(Bar tables are the exception.) The servers are quite young and under trained. They spend an awkwardly long time talking to you. It’s too bad because they are clearly doing their jobs with a desire for excellence — they just don’t know quite how to achieve it. A quick fix would be to sit them down and serve them a meal properly. They would quickly pick up the fact that diners are there to pay attention to each other as they share their meal. Plus, it’s always nice when your server has personally experienced the food herself — it shines through in the recommendations.

Amazing food and atmosphere! Mixed drinks could be a bit less expensive but every once in a while it doesn’t hurt to splurge! I highly recommend the grilled cheese appetizer and the macaroni and cheese side dish :) two of my favorites! Service is great and you should definitely make a reservation long in advance especially for weekends. Everything is fresh and delicious!

Best meal I’ve had in quite some time. Really fresh ingredients extremely well prepared. Very competent wait staff, beautiful interior, gorgeous country setting. 3 of us had steaks, each a different cut and very tasty. Medium rare would be considered rare in most other restaurants. One of us had fish(Scottish salmon) and he said it was prepared even better than the excellent seafood restaurant we went to recently. I highly recommend this restaurant but recommend you make a reservation(we had to wait an hour mid-week). If you can, try to get the silo room, which has extraordinary 180 degrees views.

If Gibbett didn’t have such an amazing reputation, the rating might be a little higher but I was disappointed based on what I had been led on to expect. When you pull into the parking lot, you can immediately see the gorgeousness of this place which is something I give them full credit for. We were seated by a window which overlooked a perfect view of the field, the barn and a beautiful sunset. We couldn’t ask for a prettier dinner, that’s for sure! The sourdough rolls and cornbread that they bring out are warm and tasty. Clam chowder; eh. Caesar salad; above average We decided against appetizers since we had entrees and starter soups/salads which were all pretty good. As a table for dinner we tried the steak tips, meatloaf, hangar steak frites, the burger, and the haddock entrée. Steak tips were bland and overcooked a bit and the haddock was very oddly prepared. Hangar steak I would highly suggest but the frites that accompany it are flavorless and completely lacking the strong truffle oil goodness. Overall, we wished we had enjoyed everything a bit more but will come back in hopes of a better experience thanks to the location and ambience.

Although the restaurant was busy for a Sunday night, the wait was a mere 15 – 20 minutes for a table of two. The bar area was extremely packed so we opted to sit outside and take in the nice farm scenery. Unfortunately for us, the cows were not present and they were hiding. Once we were inside, we were sat in the middle of the restaurant where we had a view of the open kitchen. The restaurant has a nice rustic charm with blue and white gingham clothes on the tables and high wood ceilings like as if we were in an actual barn. Our server brought out a warm bread basket with fresh corn bread and sour dough. She took the time to explain the menu and the concept of the restaurant. She was very thorough and knowledgeable. We started off with some drinks followed by a bottle of Pino Grigio. Even the wine was served in a cool rustic cedar ice bucket! For starters, we shared the Seared Tuna with cabbage, peppers and picked ginger vinaigrette. The sushi grade tuna was very good and the coarse black pepper was a nice touch. Our server suggested Cindy’s Crab Dip and basically told us if we like crab, we NEED to try it. The dish came out bubbling and hot and loaded with real chunks of lump crab meat. I could have eaten it by the spoon full but I scooped it with the Pepperridge Farm entertainment crackers that it was served with. For dinner we split the 20 oz Bone-In Rib Eye that came with two farm sides. We went with the Mac & Cheese and Onion Rings. The steak was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. No sauce required. We tried to order the Crispy Potato Crusted Haddock with sweet corn and bacon chowder but the dish wasn’t available until a large party upstairs placed their order. That was a bit of an inconvenience. That was probably should have been a sign and we probably should have stopped there but the server also recommended the Duck Breast. The dish was served with beet risotto and Gibbet Hill Honey. Although I really liked the duck, I wasn’t a fan of the risotto. While we were dining, it seemed like EVERYONE was getting the Milk and Cookies for dessert. We were totally stuffed but we had to try it. Today’s cookies were Chocolate Chip and«Creamsicle.» The cookies were warm and the milk was served in a chilled glass. Gibbet Hill Grill is part of the webber restaurant group. Also check out the newly opened Bancroft Steakhouse in Burlington that is JUSTASAMAZING!
