Salon Spoiled

I called before I went and I needed to dye my hair and cut too. They said it will only take 2 hours but it took them 3 &½ hours. First of all, they were very polite and patient but one thing is that they were too slow. My hair came out in nice color but a lot shorter than I wanted. I’m debating whether I should change my stylist or the store.

A friend of mine recommended Alan Lee to me 3 years ago and I’ve been going to him ever since. He is very friendly and trendy. Every time I tell him what I want, he will discuss with me and suggest something that suits me the best. And of course, I love the result!!!
I recently gotten a new haircut from Alan and received so many compliments! I absolutely love the cut. Can’t wait to schedule my next appointment with him!

Before you go to this hair salon! I know it is long and lengthy, but wanted to explain in details! Think twice before you go there!
My friend and I went there on a Sunday and had the worst experience ever! We were there from 430 to almost 11pm because the lady couldn’t get my hair right. To start off with my friend, she got a trim and color with highlights and was charged $ 230!!! It was my friends first time getting her hair colored but I have done it numerous times in the past and I knew she was being ripped off. I started asking the lady on my friends behalf how she came up with $ 230 and the lady said that because it’s highlights and color. it’s 80×2=160 plus hair cut was $ 52. I told my friend that she shouldn’t cut her hair then and just get the color for $ 160 but the lady then told us if she doesn’t cut her hair, then she doesn’t get the «discount» and will be charged $ 200 for the color. My friend decided to pay the extra $ 30 and include the hair cut/​trim. Most hair salons wouldn’t have even charged her for the hair cut/​trim and would have included it in the coloring. We were the only ones left at the salon and the owners (husband/​wife) walked in past 9pm. The owner lady (she said she was the manager but iam certain she was the owner) even knew my friend was over charged and gave my friend her cell nm. And told her she would give her free hair products. My issue is, if the owner knew she was overcharged, she shouldn’t have accepted the entire $ 230 up front and why offer to give her free products later when she should have at least given it to her right then and there. What customer is going to go home and then call the owner in the future for free products?! They seemed like nice people but not the way to run a business that way. This is just about my friend! I haven’t even started about my experience!
As for myself! What I wanted was a medium length beachwave curls and color. I had numerous pictures of what I wanted and told the lady upfront, if the perm cannot come out exactly like the pictures, then for her to just cut my hair and I will curl it on my own when i go out. The lady assured me that the perm, would come out like the waves in the picture. I asked her NUMEROUS times before we started… are you sure? Are u sure it will look exactly like this? And she told me again and again, yes. Long story short, it did not look like the picture and she ended up cutting my hair even shorter to cut off the perm she did. On top of that, when I walked out of the salon, my hair was straight. I asked the lady Not to straighten my hair because I wanted to see what it would look like naturally but she said she had to «even» it out and straightned my hair. When it was time to pay, the owner said she would give me $ 75 off but still charged me over $ 200. For 1) a perm that i did not want 2) I ended up walking out with straight hair! After getting a perm! And they still charged me for the perm, minus the $ 75. In my book, the owner should have just charged me $ 75 total for the coloring only. As soon as I went home, I took a shower because I wanted to see my hair after it dries naturally, without blow drying it straight… and it is neither curly nor straight. It’s just short and puffy! What a waste of 6 and a half hours and my money!

Was referred by many of my friends to give Alan a try for a hair cut. Oh boy, were they SO right about how spectactur his technique is with hair styling. He is worth every $$$. He is also very detailed. I used to go to For Hair Studio in San Gabriel, but now I will be visiting Alan.

I came across Alan when I was searching for a new hairstylist online. Knew that he used to work with celebrities in Hong Kong. Was looking forward for a new hair cut. Alan is very professional and gave me ideas what matches my face and I trusted his recommendation. I did a digital perm with haircut, Alan showed me how to easily blow dry my hair to up keep this hair style with just hand & blow dryer. I got a bunch of compliments afterward.
I also went back after two weeks to do a hair coloring. Will definitely go back again!

Today so excited, thanks Joann help me hiarcut, make me so beautiful haha, if you need find her, give you new feeling. thank you Joann, I will find you all time if I need.

This place is neat and clean. I like it the minute I walked in. Had an appointment with a lady named Joann. A friend recommened her. That is a good recommendation. She is very detail, she cut hair like an artist. She wants everything perfect. I like that. I definitely will come back.

Honestly one of the worst haircut experience I’ve ever had. I got my hair cut by one of the older ladies that didn’t know how to speak English so it was very hard to communicate with her! She was also very rough and unprofessional as she took a few personal phone calls while cutting my hair. I’m pretty sure she had forgotten the type of haircut I wanted halfway through! Had a bad experience and I couldn’t wait to leave the salon. Ended up paying 40 $ for a men’s haircut that looked horrible with some bald spots!

Amazing place. With a magical sense of styling, and i couldnt find a better word to describe Alan Lee’s professionalism. Chinese/​madarin/​english are fine.

Alan does good job and provides good customer service to my husband and I every time we go there. Due to his excellent work, please expect that he is very busy. So make sure you call one week ahead to make your reservation.

This place is pretty awesome. This asian establishment tends to the Asian crowd. Even though they speak Chinese, they do speak English. They are great people. My gf and I always use CINDY. She’s a great, polite person that will always listen to what you want and need. Thank you Cindy for the great customer service and the awesome hair cuts.

Omgosh. I just called this place and their English is horrible. I told the lady on the phone that I wanted to make an appointment with Alan today and she said «okay, 1230» okay, great! Then she asks me for my phone number and repeats it 5 times. Then asks for my name and I spell it out for her 3 different times. I wanted to punch her through the phone. I was getting really irritated talking to her and ask her to transfer me to Alan himself, but instead she kept saying «okay» and I’m just thinking «okay what?! I asked you to transfer me». Soooo frustrating. Finally I got transferred to Alan and he tells me he has nothing open until next week. Stupid lady, I had a huge feeling she was not understanding me and not even paying attention to what I was saying when I said «today». I even asked her to confirm 3 different times and she said «okay». I would have been sooo pissed if I drove there and couldn’t get my hair cut by him.
WELL THATS MY EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR HAIR SALON, not with the actual cut or style.
Please hire at least one person to speak English. Thank you.

Alan he is amazing and extremely meticulous when it comes to hair cutting. His work is really details. Being a guy, I usually don’t get compliments on my hair. But ever since Alan started styling my hair, I have gotten so many compliments. I hardly have to spend much time styling my hair since Alan has been cutting my hair. His cut is easy to maintain and still got styles after months.
I had been various reputable places throughout the San Gabriel, Rowland Hts area. Now that I had found Alan, I wouldn’t go to any other salons. He’s definitely worth your money and time. I Highly recommend!!!

Alan Lee is the best stylist you will find in the area for Asian haircut, period. I’ve tried many different stylist around the area and even though they say they know how to cut Asian hair for men, they really don’t. Alan knows exactly what he is doing and goes above and beyond. He has work with many HK superstars, and is definitely worth your money and time. Highly recommend!!!

I keep changing my hair stylist bcos I couldn’t really find one is good fit to my need until last year I 1^st try Alan Lee. I want my hair in purple and he dyed it for me in a very beautiful shiny purple/​violet color and I love it so much, I got so many compliment from others since then!
Btw, I used to have long hair (its around my waist) and so wanna try a short hair style and friends all disagree me with this decision. But I trust Alan so much. So, I just went to his work place and have a very short Bob hair cut. I love it very much and suprisely everyone like my new hair style, even those ppls been saying I won’t look good in short hair but this time, they said I look fresh, younger and cuter! I’ve been referred many different friends to Alan, all of them like his work. So, I highly recommend him to everyone~~ Honestly, if that’s not Alan Lee, I won’t dare to cut my hair in short, he really know what he’s doing~

Alan Lee is my favorite hair stylist. He is so experience and know how to make you look the best. I am a fashion designer and I once hired him to do my hair for my fashion show. He spent a lot of time to do a up do that is so stylish and I got so much complements on it.
