Christmas shopping at The Shops at Riverside…
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature kiosk, a new chocolatier!
Well, hello La Maison du Chocolat and welcome to Bergen County.
Walking through Riverside Square and I discovered this little gem. After speaking with the ultra cool staff who were down to earth and friendly (no attitude at all) I was offered samples of macarons and chocolates. They have been set up at this location (near Bloomingdales) for approximately 10 days and will be opening a store in the next 6 months.
Since this was a small outpost, they were not fully stocked (sadly, no pralines)…but the chocolates that I did sample were expensive and exquisite. And they had many small boxes (eg. 4 piece) samplers.
They even had torrone, an Italian nougatine confection studded with pistachios and almonds drizzled in dark chocolate. Someone is getting a really nice stocking stuffer.
I will definitely update this review as I taste more chocolates…
