Everything here is awesome. We stayed on the north shore for a week and had their breakfast sandwiches and pastries every morning for breakfast. Their lunch plates are also fantastic. Definitely treat yourself to some of their pie. This place is worth the visit. Every time we stay on Oahu we go to Teds multiple times.

From the highway it doesn’t look like much but… for under 10 bucks each omelette meal we got 2+ meals. Because they cook it fresh and HOT it takes a little wait time but well worth the wait. Plenty of tables, there is a huge shaded seating area on the south side of the parking lot. A place not to miss if you’re spending time on the North Shore.

Garlic Shrimp a MUST! If you are in North Shore area eat the GARLICSHRIMP at TED’s — don’t waste your time at the TRUCKS! You won’t be disappointed — we had our taste and 2 other shrimp trucks along North Shore and it was either bland or over cooked!!!

Ridiculous! A MUST when you come to Sunset Beach! It’s free when you order a garlic shrimp plate or spicy garlic shrimp plate which I equally insane! Huge thumbs up!!! The wait is worth it!

DISCLAIMER: This review is for the location itself. The pies and cakes I have eaten were all 5 stars! Honestly very disappointed when I got there. I was expecting something completely different. The pies they had, you could get at Foodland! There just didnt seem to be a lot going on at this place. It was dingy-looking. My bf got the shrimp plate since you could get a slice of pie with it; the plate was just okay. Pie was great! Cashier was nice. Had some tables outside to sit. But yeah, the place just did not meet my expectations.

A short drive from the second Giovanni’s shrimp truck location. Slices are prepacked in the fridge. Can easily go in and out to pick up the goods and enjoy in the car or at the beaches. Chocolate Haupia pie & pineapple macadamia nut cheesecake. Both so delish! Next time I go, I think I will fly a pie back to my hometown.

Letter to Ted… Dear Ted, You make me happy. You make me sad. Mrs. Ted(I am guessing… we weren’t introduced) gave me 3 free slices of your Chantilly Cake. The buttercream frosting was unlike any frosting I have ever tasted. And your restraint on the sugar was phenomenal. I hope you will forgive me, I refused to share two of those pieces. My tummy says thank you, my brain tells me I am a greedy monster. You had tons of Chocolate Haupia pie, sliced and ready to buy. I knew this had to be good, Unilocalers from many lands have said so. It brought happy tears to my eyes. Your crust, btw, blew me away, it was so flaky, even the bottom. How do you do that? You had a Pineapple Upside Down cake that surpassed any that have ever crossed my lips. You did not know this, but my birthday cakes of my childhood all *had* to be Pineapple Upside Down cakes. If only they had been from Ted’s. Ted, you already know how incredibly moist and even cinnamony your version is. Oh, this was one very happy day! But I clearly did not arrive early enough for the slices of plain Haupia pie. I was not only sad, I was devastated. I thought this might haunt me the rest of my days… until I came up with a back up plan. Lucky me… a little bird told me that I can buy freshly baked slices or whole pies in Foodland, a local grocery chain on the island. So, I did. But for those with similar thoughts, a whole pie is way too much for 2 people to eat in a 2 day span before we had to fly home. Lord knows we tried. Sigh. One last thought. You are making me sad I cannot get them in my own mainlander stores. You know how to make me happy. So just send me your recipes, please?

I do not even like pie but I am loving the pie here! A must go if you are in the North Shore! Chocolate Haupia Pie: The bomb! So bomb, I ordered 2. The chocolate is subtle, not too chocolatey which I love. The haupia complemented the chocolate perfectly. The crust was amazingly buttery. I highly recommend! Coconut Cake: Ugh, so good! Moist cake. Banana Cream Pie: Delicious! Strawberry Guava Pie: A great combo! They also serve breakfast which was so-so. Loco Moco(Served with Macaroni Salad): They overcooked the egg when my boyfriend asked for Sunny Side Up. Too much rice. The beef was bland. Portuguese Sausage & Eggs(Served with bread): Good, but still too much rice that it seems like you do not get enough of everything else. The bread was sweet.

A hyped up hole in the wall restaurant. My friends and I rented a car just to go here. Portions are sizeable and drenched in every imaginable oil and fat. The result is that it tastes wonderful, but makes you feel the need to crawl into a hibernation for the entire afternoon following. This is Hawaii, so beaches are a good place for that. It might destroy whatever semblance of a «bikini body» you have been working on – be forewarned. I got the garlic shrimp. It arrived sitting in a sweet jacuzzi of grease. I pondered letting the little guys dry out a little(I’m that basic bitch who wipes the pizza off before she eats it), but not wanting to compromise the quality of this review, I decided to go in for the full experience. It was a garlicy religious experience. The rice was also great. I wasn’t a huge fan of the macaroni salad, but I pawned it off on my friends. I definitely did not finish the meal. Portions too large. The irony of the name«bakery» is not lost on me, because I don’t think their Chocolate Haupia pies are made here. They’re refrigerated on the side and have more processed ingredients than I knew could exist in a bakery. But man. They were delicious. It’s really good, but don’t eat here every day or you may die from heart disease.

I’ve always loved their Chocolate Haupia pies which my parents bought from the grocery stores, but I never got to go to their original location in Haliewa. I never knew it was near Sunset Beach. Parking is kind a tough situation with a small parking lot and there may be a long wait to find parking. Luckily when I went with my friends today, we were able to find parking. This was my first time at Ted’s Bakery and I was blown away. Not only do they sell their pies, they have plate lunches, sandwiches, baked goods, drinks, and of course cakes. I never knew they had a pineapple pie! I believe 3 of their regular plate lunches come with a free slice of pie(one of them was the garlic shrimp plate, not too sure about what the other two were though). Their plate lunches come in a regular and small. The small plate lunches cost from $ 8 and up while the regular one costs $ 12 and up. They also offer salads I think they were $ 8 and up. The sandwiches and burgers were $ 8 and up too. Their menu is on a monitor so it constantly changes so you might have to wait awhile to see their full menu. My friend treated me to lunch and got me a Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Sandwich combo. It costed around $ 8-$ 9 and came with fries. The BBQ Chicken Sandwich was okay, the lettuce kept coming out and there was some parts of the chicken that contained muscles so it wasn’t that pleasing to taste. About ¾ of the plate was filled with french fries which was way too much, but a good deal neither less. The star of my meal was their signature Chocolate Haupia pie which costed $ 4 per a slice. The crust had a nice texture while the haupia, chocolate, and whipped cream was very light. It was definitely one of the best haupia pies I’ve ever tasted. My friend gave me one of his garlic shrimps from his plate lunch and it was delicious. It had a nice garlic and cheesey crust to it.

I had Ted’s Bakery down on my list of dessert shops to check out in Hawaii after reading many great reviews online. The bakery was quite small with seating outside the place. If they’re all taken, there are additional tables across the parking lot. I ordered the garlic shrimp with a side of macaroni salad and two scoops of rice. The garlic shrimp was so buttery with delicious seasoning and the macaroni salad was the perfect accompaniment. My bf ordered chicken cutlet with bulgogi, fried egg and spam over rice. His meal was also very delicious. His meal also came with a fried chicken which was very crispy on the outside and extremely juicy on the inside! For dessert we got the chocolate cream pie which was incredible! The texture was very smooth and creamy, and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. We both really enjoyed our meals and the delicious pie afterwards. If you’re out at North Shore and looking for a nice lunch or dessert, hit up Ted’s Bakery. You won’t be disappointed!

The stars are for the coconut cake that we purchased to go, which was good. Thd haupia pie slices, chocolate snd strawberry were also pretty darn good. My husband and I ordered 2 shrimp plate lunches. The best part of it was the rice. Thr garlic shrimp were coated in a salty mixture of something granulated(garlic granules?) and on top of that parmesean cheese(I think)… all of which I scraped off to just eat the shrimp which were cooked, but barely warm. Rice with sweet chili sauce — just that. My rice was cold too. The macaroni salad was positively tasteless, just tasted like macaroni covered in mayo. The place was an absolute madhouse when we visited so it seems with that turnover things should be at least hot when served. I’d have complained but it was so crazy busy in there I wasn’t going back in to wait in *that* line. I’ll come back for cake and pie.

I’ve only tried the sweets so far, but it didn’t disappoint. I was disappointed that they didn’t have their peanut butter pie, though. UGH! Both places I wanted to try for their peanut butter items and they didn’t have it.poop. I ended up getting their peanut butter donut and their pumpkin cream pie. The pie was delicious! I wish they had bigger pieces! The donut was small, but it packed a lot of pb flavor. Gotta go back and get that damn PB pie next time.

I’ve been meaning to try their pies for a few years so finally I made it during my recent trip to Oahu. If you’re using a maps software application to get here, you’ll probably be misled like me. I set my destination to «59−024 Kamehameha Hey Haleiwa, HI96712». However, when it told me I had arrived, Ted’s was nowhere in sight. If you’re heading northbound, keep going toward Kahuku until you see the blue building on the right hand side. — Chocolate Haupia Cream Pie($ 3.40/slice) I wasn’t sure if I’d like this but this was a 4 star pie. The Haupia wasn’t overpowering and paired well with the darker chocolate. — Pineapple Macadamia Nut Cheesecake($ 4.40/slice) I thought I’d like this more than the other slice, but I didn’t care for it. The bottom layer of pineapple on top of the crust was chunky with soft pieces of pineapple and the crust had chunks of macadamia nuts in it. I didn’t like the texture of either.

wow not only pies and baked goods you can also pick up a plate lunch here YES! On our way back to town we stopped at Ted’s to pick up a slices of chocolate haupia pies and cookies. I noticed they have outdoor tables and chairs on a nice sunny day to have lunch but start with dessert first cause it’s very good. They have loco moco on the menu I will have to try that next time. small parking lot or street parking

Hype beast disclaimer: This is that place, like Junior’s in NYC, that’s been here for a long ass time and the hype monsters from the mainland(who never had these flavor flavs before) think it’s the shit. No, Mary. NO. The pies come with a platter entrée. First off, they aren’t even made here. It’s a bakery, but the pies aren’t made here? Wait, it has 47 ingredients in it? WTF? When was the last time you went to a bakery and that happened? Never. Moral of the story Felecia, read the packaging. That said, the pies were good, but I was high and drunk everyday I went here(lets not kid ourselves, it was everyday I was on this island). By no means are these great pies or «must have before I leave the island because I can’t get this anywhere else» kind of swag. The platters: We had the chicken, the beef and the shrimp during our stay on the North Shore. If you’re Filipino you know what the chicken is, it’s the BBQ we grew up with. The beef short ribs have Korean a marinade flavor to it. Basically, both have a salty and sweet profiles. Grilled over charcoal, the smokey touch along with the almost burnt sear on it adds another layer of flavor. When they throw in the two scoops of white rice and large scoop of that macaroni salad that is standard with fast food on this island, it will fill you up. Sidetone: I hate this macaroni salad thing. It’s got some kind of Miracle Whip dressing on it and it’s always the standard side that come with at these type of fast food shacks on the island when ordering a platter/entrée. The fried shrimp is dry, like my sense of humor. Stick with the garlic skrimps, if you haven’t gotten sick of it, yet. Tell them to not put that weird cheese on it though, it’s fucking gross, not necessary and ruins it. Just say, NO. Next to the coffee station is a fridge with Spam Musubi to grab and go. Amazing. If you’re round shaped, like me, the portion will suffice. If you’re of normal shape, these plates will feed two or you will take leftovers home if dining Han Solo. The price is pretty cheap considering the amount and because everything on this island is mucho expensive’oh. If you want to eat it here, don’t think the tables out front are the only ones. All the way to the left of the shack past the parking lot is a hut that has the bathrooms and seating area. ***Don’t get scared when the random rogue chickens see you and walk over. They are probably paying their respect to the relative or friend you are eating. Also, don’t be that idiot type of mainlander who feeds them. There is nothing on your plate that they should be eating, Britney. This place is average at best, but a great bang for your buck. It’s open at 7 am and considering the options on this stretch… it’s not bad. They take cards and close at 9. Still, if you ate this on the reg, you’d be on your way to obesity and diabetes, but fuck it, who wants to live long anyway.

Loco moco galore! After my boyfriend found the top ten loco moco places in Hawaii via Facebook, we decided to check Ted’s out specifically for their loco moco. Usually I come here only for picking up pies, which are great! Their chocolate haupia is def my first choice and I don’t really care for pies or haupia. Yum! We ordered a loco moco which was enough for two hungry people to share. It comes with two hamburger patties! My boyfriend said it was probably like two cups of rice used in that order because it was huge. The plate was more like a plastic platter instead of the typical takeout box. In the words of the boyfriend: «the gravy was on point, the rice was made perfect, and the eggs were cooked amazingly». After receiving your food, there’s multiple tables and chairs but by the parking lot there’s more chairs and even a little pavillion. Def would come back again just their pies and loco moco! Maybe next time we’ll be able to finish it.

Haupia — pronounced HOW-PEE-YAH. Like I’ve said before, food in Hawaii can be pricey… especially if you’re staying in a fancy, shmancy resort on the Island. So, to stretch your dollar(or yen) it’s best to eat like a local. Problem is, when food is cheap(and very good) you tend to buy more than you can eat. My mom used to tell me my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I have smiling(Chinky) eyes and was a chubby kid growing up, so I don’t know what the hell she was talking about. Anyway, let me tell you about Ted’s Bakery. Sitting right off Kamehameha Hwy, it’s best to drive at «Island Speed» or you’ll drive right by it, the big crowd of tourists eating outside gives away it’s location. Inside, it feels like someone built a donut shop inside someone’s garage. During the slower hours(after lunch crowds) is the best time to visit. Parking is ample, lines are shorter, but service can be slow(as usual, Island Time). About one or two friendly Pinay Aunties are working the counter at any one time. Take a number, stand next to the friendly locals and tourism employees who frequent the joint. Now, do yourself a favor and buy an entire Chocolate Haupia Pie. Don’t buy any other baked goods, you’ll be wasting your money. After one bite, you’ll be rolling your eyes back into your forehead and curling your toes. A taste experience worth savoring and sharing. The hot plate lunches are filling, large in portion, packed to go and priced for locals(not tourists). I’d recommend the Combo #2 and Mix Plate, I guarantee a two hour nap afterwards, you’ve been warned. No eating and driving, Kamehameha Hwy is only two lanes! :) All in all, I’d highly recommend a stop at Ted’s Bakery. To be honest, I blame Ted’s for my weight gain after my recent visit to Hawaii, I’m sure you’ll get the same. PROTIP: individual slices of the Haupia Pie can be purchased from nearby Foodland Supermarkets. :)

Teds bakery now has a very special place in my heart. Been hearing about this place for sometime now and finally got to stop In while on the north shore. The bakery itself is small and immediately to your left upon walking in are refrigerators full of pre sliced pies or different varieties and whole pies. Grab what you want and pay at the counter or if you don’t see what you want then ask a worker and they’ll bring out stuff from the back. Had the COCONUTHAUPIAPIE and the CARROTCAKEPIE and mmm mmm MMM were they both good. COCONUTHAUPIAPIE. The pie Wasn’t overly sweet, plenty coconut-y, and was more of refreshing on a warm day. The pie crust was flaky and crumbly and just heaven. Staff is very nice and plenty knowledgeable about items they have for sale especially how long they’ll keep and if they can be frozen or take back to the mainland. Parking spaces available in a dirt lot in front but aren’t many especially when a lot of people are craving pies and or cakes. Im craving it right now as I type this. Can’t wait to come back for a visit and try more varieties.
